The Community Literacy Index (PILM) Improvement activity at the Grahadi Building, Surabaya, Saturday afternoon (16/03/2022) -

The industrial revolution 4.0 emphasizes the ability of human resources with high and specific expertise. Thus, literacy skills will be one of the important indicators in the global free market. Online trade will be dominated by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

"It can be said that the backbone of the world economy in 2030 will be MSMEs based on e-commerce," said Khofifah when receiving a number of stimulants and awards from the National Library on the sidelines of the Community Literacy Index (PILM) Improvement activity at the Grahadi Building, Surabaya, Saturday afternoon (16/03/2022).

Therefore, it is important to equip MSME actors with literacy skills, especially digital literacy. Moreover, the majority of business actors in Indonesia are MSMEs. MSME collaboration with libraries is very reliable in the growth and increase of MSMEs and start-ups significantly in East Java.

“I appreciate the extraordinary support given by the National Library through literacy programs for welfare which have a direct impact on the community. Through this program, the people of East Java, especially those in rural areas, become more empowered. In fact, as of July 2021, there are no more underdeveloped villages in East Java," explained Governor Khofifah.

In line with the Governor, member of Commission X DPR RI Zainuddin Maliki emphasized the importance of literacy. All aspects of life intersect with literacy. In fact, there are still many who do not realize that the quality of literacy has an impact on the welfare of people's lives. In fact, Indonesia is blessed with the gift of extraordinary natural wealth.

"Those who are less fertile are progressing. The fertile ones have not yet arrived. Of course, literacy intelligence affects it. The problem of reading and writing is not over yet, just a little more. However, on the other hand there is a tremendous growth of the internet. Indonesia is now ranked number three in the world in terms of internet users," added Zainudin.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Saturday (16/04/22), The Head of the National Library of Indonesia, Muhammad Syarif Bando said that literacy has a positive contribution to create a skilled, creative, and innovative workforce.

Meanwhile, the Head of UPT Library, State University of Malang, Djoko Saryono said that the current literacy program was actually too late. Since the 1990s, the issue of literacy has been echoed internationally. In fact, since the early 2000s, UNESCO has launched a book entitled "Literacy For Life".

On the sidelines of the Community Literacy Index (PILM) Improvement activity, the Head of National Library handed over a certificate to Governor Khofifah for East Java's achievements as the province with the most accredited libraries in Indonesia and the submission of a number of Special Allocation Fund (DAK) assistance to Kab. Sampang and Kab. Nganjuk for the construction of a regional public library service facility building.

For the expansion DAK received by Kab. Madiun, as well as assistance from the Digital Reading Corner (Pocadi) for Kab. Gresik, Kab. Trenggalek, Kab. Jember, Kab. Tuban, Kab. Probolinggo, Kab. Lamongan, Kab. Pamekasan, Kab. Mojokerto, and Batu City, including a stimulant for a unit of Mobile Library Car (MPK) for the Library and Archives Service of East Java Province//VOI
