The Lumajang District Community Literacy Index (PILM) Improvement activity -

The inauguration of the Deputy Regent of Lumajang Indah Masdar as the Mother of Literacy is a strategic step in creating a competitive role model for human resource development.

“We must realize that the role of mothers is to give birth to a smart generation as well as a challenge to cultivate a love of reading from an early age. Understand them because every child has their own specialties. If there are problems, find the root of the problem why they are reluctant to read," he explained at the Lumajang District Community Literacy Index (PILM) Improvement activity, Monday afternoon, (25/04/2022).

The love of reading is a very positive habit. Reading is an important element in educating the nation. Therefore, the availability and use of libraries everywhere must be maximized. Whether we realize it or not, the ability to read will encourage creativity and innovation in society.

"These two things are important pillars that can guarantee regional success," he added.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Monday (25/04/22), the central government's attention to the library is also not kidding. The Special Allocation Fund (DAK) assistance provided to the regions is proof of its seriousness. It's just a matter of how the local government continues its utilization relay. Not just asking to be built and poor community empowerment activities in it.

"The National Library is grateful for the 2.5 billion DAK given in 2021, now the people of Lumajang can enjoy co-working space facilities that can support the growth of awareness to become a learning community," said Deputy Library Resource Development Deni Kurniadi.

However, the presence of technology is also an important part of creating a literate society if it can be used properly.

"Handphones, for example. Apart from being a means of communication, we can use them as a medium to find information that has an impact on welfare, such as the I-Pusnas application which is full of applied science readings that can be directly put into practice," said member of Commission X DPR-RI Muhamad Nur Purnamasidi.

The key, continued Purnamasidi, is to continue to synergize and collaborate. Thus, the National Library of Indonesia as well as local governments are committed to creating an advanced and competitive society//VOI
