DIY Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono the 10th attending the National PLM -
DIY Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono National PLM is a knowledge sharing and experience sharing activity in the social inclusion-based library transformation program (TPBIS).
This year, the National PLM carries the theme "Strengthening Literacy towards a Prosperous Society through Creative and Innovative Libraries". Through National PLM 2023, the Governor invites the entire community to change their mindset regarding libraries not as mere "nouns", but as "verbs". According to him, libraries are essentially full of dynamics and move progressively to progress.
"Let's continue the collaboration to create a more prosperous Indonesia, where literacy is the light that dispels the darkness of ignorance, where every citizen has unlimited access to knowledge, and libraries are centers of creativity and innovation," he said at the Opening of the 2023 National PLM at the Alanda Hotel , Yogyakarta, on Wednesday (20/9/2023).
Apart from taking part in National PLM activities, the Governor invited all participants to enjoy the natural beauty and cultural richness of Yogyakarta. "Hopefully, the participants will still have time to breathe in the atmosphere of Yogyakarta in all its simplicity, amidst its natural charm, rich tourist treasures and culture," he explained.
Meanwhile, Director of the National Library, Muhammad Syarif Bando, hopes that the National PLM participants can increase their motivation, commitment and self-confidence to carry out the TPBIS program in a sustainable manner.
Over the last five years since 2018, the TPBIS program has succeeded in building the capacity of 2,672 village library managers, 153 master trainers, and 584 regional facilitators. Apart from that, as many as 2,017,379 community members took part in 115,923 activities at the library. PLM activities have also been replicated independently by partners in 2,011 villages/sub-districts.
He added that library managers face complex challenges such as changes in technology or policies. At the National PLM meeting, he hopes that library managers can discuss how to overcome these challenges together, which can produce better solutions.
"It is hoped that all participants can utilize the peer learning meeting as a useful moment to improve the quality of library management, overcome the challenges faced, and expand the knowledge and professional network of library managers," said the Director of National Library.
He added that participants are expected to use National PLM activities to build professional networks in the library sector. Through interaction with colleagues, library managers can expand their circle and potentially collaborate on future projects.
"Let's work together so that all participants feel motivated and inspired to develop new ideas and improve their performance in their work," he continued.
Meanwhile, National Library Library Resource Development Deputy Adin Bondar explained that the 2023 National PLM was attended offline by 1,100 participants from all over Indonesia and 1,000 offline.
