Voinews, Jakarta - Colombo Plan activities which focus on the Knowledge Sharing Program on Library Transformation Based on Social Inclusion (TPBIS) officially closed after five full days of exploration and learning.
The event, which will take place from 13 to 17 November 2023, involves eight participants from six Colombo Plan member countries (Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Myanmar) and 10 participants from representatives of provinces/districts/cities in Indonesia. The participants were actively involved in travel, learning and discovery in the field of TPBIS strategies and projects spearheaded by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas).
National Library Main Secretary (Sestama) Ofy Sofiana revealed that during the activity, participants from various countries had explored various TPBIS strategies and programs through visits and exploration.
In this activity, the participants visited the Mutiara Rawa Binong library, East Jakarta, on Thursday (16/11). Here, they not only get practical examples, but also inspiration that TPBIS can be successfully implemented.
"This is also clear evidence of the transformative power of libraries in improving community welfare," he said at the closing of the Knowledge Sharing Program about TPBIS in Jakarta, on Friday (17/11/2023).
After closing the activity, the Secretary of State hopes that participants will not only take home new knowledge, but also a commitment to encouraging social inclusion through the library system in their respective countries. He emphasized that the results of this activity are not the end, but rather the starting point for further collaboration.
"We at the National Library, together with our partners, will ensure that the knowledge and experience shared here will become a source of inspiration for new initiatives in your home country and region," he hoped.
According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Friday, Sestama said that she is optimistic that the results of this activity will be a stimulus for positive change in society. He looks forward to future programs that will continue and expand the activities that have been started, while inviting all parties to jointly optimize libraries as a catalyst for social change.
"Let's together optimize the power of libraries as a catalyst for social change, paving the way for a more inclusive, informed and resilient society," he concluded.
In this activity, National Library collaborated with the Ministry of State Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) under the Directorate of Social Culture and International Organizations for Developing Countries in holding good practice sharing sessions through training.
