According to the president in a press statement before his departure, he would attend the Conference of the Parties 28 (COP28) climate change high-level event. He will convey Indonesia's views and the importance of global collaboration in tackling climate change.
“...Particularly, it’s the commitment of developed countries to funding climate, especially to achieve the net zero target emission. At this COP28 Summit, I will convey the Indonesian experience and emphasize the importance of global collaboration of climate finance and the importance of that inclusive transition to ensure sustainable development and welfare of society in developing countries,” he said.
According to President Joko Widodo, the world expectation for COP28 is very high, so there is real global action for restrictions of rising temperatures in the world. He saw that developed countries should be committed more to reaching net-zero emissions target.
"The world is highly expecting the COP28 to endorse concrete global actions to suppress the rise in temperature on the planet. Developed countries, in particular, should strengthen their commitments to funding efforts aimed at reaching the net-zero emissions target," the president remarked.
During his working visit, the President also is scheduled to attend the Leaders' Event: Transforming Food Systems in the Face of Climate Change, G-77 and China Summit, as well as several bilateral meetings. The president and his entourage are scheduled to return to Indonesia on Sunday (03/12/2023). (Nrl, some from Antara)
