The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Lisbon again participated in Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa (BTL) 2024 at Feira Internacional de Lisboa from 28 February to 3 March in a bid to increase foreign tourist visits to Indonesia. This event is one of the largest annual tourism exhibitions on the Iberian Peninsula. Visited by at least 63,000 people, the BTL 2024 exhibition was attended by at least 75 countries, including Brazil, Italy, Spain, Venezuela, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, Peru, Guinea Bissau, Uruguay, Vietnam and South Africa.

In this series of promotions, the Indonesian Embassy in Lisbon presented an attractive booth, highlighting the beauty of Bali and five other priority tourism destinations. The Citraloka Dance Group, supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Lisbon, also amazed visitors with a performance of the Gajak Gijik Dance from Jakarta, enriching understanding of the richness of Indonesian art and culture.

Indonesian Ambassador to Portugal, Rudy Alfonso, said that the Indonesian Embassy's participation in the annual BTL 2024 event was a strategic step to promote Indonesia as a top of mind tourism destination to the European community. He also remarked that the enthusiasm of visitors at the Indonesian booth reflects the strong interest of the people of Portugal and its surroundings in Indonesia.

The participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Lisbon in the BTL 2024 event was in collaboration with the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority Implementing Agency, the Jakarta Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association, and the Banyuwangi Tourism Office.

According to data from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics, Portuguese tourist visits to Indonesia in 2023 reached 32,029 people, recording a significant recovery from previous years. It is hoped that this positive trend will continue to increase in the future.
