Kahatola Waterfall is located right on Kahatola Island, Loloda District, West Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. Kahatola means jutting out into the sea. To get to Kahatola waterfall, you have to rent a speed boat from Jailolo port and it takes about three hours, but if there are big waves it can take for 4 hours.

Even though the journey is quite tiring, the views along western Halmahera are so beautiful and guaranteed to relieve fatigue, because during the trip on the boat, you will be treated to quite beautiful views of the coast.

When you arrive at Kahatola waterfall, you will definitely be amazed by the high and steep rock cliffs that surround the island. The beautiful Kahatola waterfall is on one of the steep cliffs.

Uniquely, the Kahatola waterfall does not come from river flow, but comes from overflowing water collected in a basin. This water comes from groundwater seepage collected from rain, and dew droplets that seep into the soil and humus.

During dry season, this waterfall still flows, even though the water flow is smaller than usual. In contrast, during the rainy season, the water flows more rapidly. Waterfalls that flow from steep rocks will go straight into the sea.

For this reason, visitors are not advised to enter the water directly when they arrive at the waterfall. Visitors can simply enjoy the beauty of the waterfall from the boat. But if you still want to try to enter the water, you must use a life jacket because the sea water depth reaches 4 meters. Visitors who are allowed to enter the waterfall must be able to swim.

If you are in Maluku, also take the time to visit West Halmahera. Here, while enjoying the beautiful views, you can also taste typical food and drinks from this region, such as mulu bebe, namely bananas sliced thinly and then fried dry. Mulu bebe is usually eaten with dipped chili sauce. Apart from that, in the Loloda area, you can also dive. It is guaranteed your holiday will be very memorable.
