VOInews, Jakarta: Three months ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the French Embassy in Jakarta hosted the Cita Rasa France (Gout de France) 2024 reception with the theme of Sports and Gastronomy at Residence de France, Menteng, Central Jakarta on Thursday, April 25, 2024. The reception was attended by Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee Raja Sapta Oktohari, Chairman of PB PABSI Rosan Roeslani, Chairwoman of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation Yeni Wahid, KOI administrators and two cycling athletes who qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, namely Rio Akbar and Bernard Benyamin Van Aert. The guests were treated to various French specialties such as Le Carpaccio de Veau, Fricassee d'Escargots, Cannellini Cuits en Cocotte and Le Brie Truffe Maison. All dishes were served by four professional French chefs, Chef Gilles, William, Richard and Chef Nicolas.
French Ambassador to Indonesia Fabien Penone said that the 'Gout de France' event is a culinary celebration organized by the French diplomatic network since 2015 to introduce French culinary flavors to the world. "As you know, 'Gout de France' has been organized by the French diplomatic network around the world since 2015, to celebrate the excellence of French chefs, artisans, and food products," Ambassador Fabien Penone said.
Ambassador Fabien Penone further explained that, in conjunction with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this year's Gout de France is themed 'Sport and Gastronomy'. "This year, ahead of the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, the 2024 edition of Gout de France wants to highlight the relation between sport and gastronomy (…) During the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, France will not only be the biggest playground for athletes around the world, but also the biggest dining table in the World," Fabien Penone added.
In his speech, ambassador Fabien Penone also stated that whether in the kitchen or on the field, collaboration, solidarity, excellence, belonging, and togetherness are essential values that must be upheld.
The peak of Gout de France 2024 will be held from October 1 to 11, 2024 in 151 restaurants in 14 cities spread across 4 islands throughout Indonesia. During the event, people can taste French cuisine, participate in cooking workshops, take part in demonstrations by French chefs, and attend seminars on French gastronomy. (Daniel).
