VOINews, Jakarta: Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, has urged the younger generation to play an active role in Indonesia's creative economy as part of the nation's vision for Indonesia Emas 2045.
As reportet by Antara, during a speech to high school students in Jakarta on Friday, Uno underscored the importance of their contributions to the country's advancement, particularly in the creative economy sector. He emphasized how the youth's involvement is essential for driving progress and innovation.
Uno encouraged the students to focus on their education and develop skills in creativity, innovation, and critical thinking. He highlighted that these attributes are crucial for succeeding in a globalized world and making a significant impact on Indonesia's creative economy.
"Let us develop creativity and innovation through critical thinking, and I am sure you all can innovate, hone your creativity, achieve success, and face global challenges," he stated. His words aimed to inspire the students to harness their potential and confront global challenges with confidence.
Moreover, Uno stressed the importance of gaining international experience and praised the partnership between UNSW College and PT Unisadhuguna Education, which enables Indonesian students to study abroad. This collaboration is seen as vital for broadening students' horizons and enhancing their skills.
He also highlighted the essential role of education in developing human capital and called on parents and teachers to support students in reaching their full potential. "I want to remind us all of the very crucial role of education, and this Jakarta Creative Day will open up the potential and talents of students," he remarked. "Let us support and guide our children on their journey towards a bright future."
Uno pointed out that Indonesia's creative economy is a major contributor to the national economy, ranking third globally in terms of revenue, with a value exceeding Rp1,400 trillion. This sector provides 24 million jobs and generates nearly US$24 billion in exports annually, showcasing its vital role in the nation's economic landscape.
To maintain this momentum, Uno emphasized the need for a skilled and educated workforce. He stressed that investing in education and skill development is key to sustaining and growing the creative economy's contributions to Indonesia's prosperity.
UNSW College CEO, Sarah Lightfoot, expressed her appreciation for the partnership and the ministry's efforts in strengthening Indonesia's human capital. She is optimistic that this collaboration will help cultivate a talented generation capable of leading Indonesia towards its 2045 goals.
