Bogor Agricultural University Collaborates with University of New South Wales Featured

The Department of Food Science and Technology at IPB University conducted an educational collaboration with the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of New South Wales, Australia. The cooperation includes several programs such as the development of double degree programs for undergraduates, international mobility for lecturers and students, and joint research.

 

In a meeting at the University of New South Wales campus, the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, Mukhamad Najib, stated that the Indonesian government strongly encourages universities to establish international partnerships. The government facilitates students and lecturers in undertaking international mobility at the world's top campuses. Additionally, the government supports Indonesian universities in inviting world-class professors to teach, mentor, or conduct joint research and publications in Indonesia.

 

Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology at IPB University, Eko Hari Purnomo, explained that IPB University currently offers an international class for undergraduate students. These students are required to gain international experience by studying for at least one semester at a partner campus abroad. Consequently, Eko stated that the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of New South Wales is an ideal destination for students of IPB University’s Department of Food Science and Technology to engage in international mobility.

 

Co-Director of Teaching and Learning at the Department of Food Science and Technology, University of New South Wales, Jayashree Arcot, welcomed the collaboration initiated by IPB University. Arcot noted that he had reviewed the profile of IPB University’s Department of Food Science and Technology, which was impressive. Arcot mentioned that both departments have received international accreditation from the world food technology professional association based in America, the Institute of Food Technologists.
