Indonesia managed to record export transactions of 80 tons of swallow's nest worth 150 million US dollars or around Rp. 2.2 trillion from a Chinese company on the sidelines of the Swallow's Nest Industry Annual Conference in Xiamen, Fujian Province on October 27-30, 2020.
The transaction was obtained through the signing of a purchase agreement between the General Manager of Yan Palace Seelong Food Co Ltd Production Huang Danyan and the Trade Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Marina Novira Anggraini on the sidelines of the event.
"The company imports swallow bird nests from Indonesia starting in 2021," said Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun to ANTARA in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, Friday.
The Ambassador fulfilled the invitation of the Chinese Agricultural Product Wholesaler Association (CAWA) to attend the conference with the Indonesian Consul General in Guangzhou Gustanto and the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing.
"Currently, Indonesia is the largest producer of swallow's nest in the world and China is the largest consumer of swallow's nest in the world," he said.
During the January-August 2020 period, China imported swallow's nest worth 275.7 million US dollars. Of that amount, 73.7 percent came from Indonesia with a total import value of US $ 203 million or an increase of 90.3 percent compared to imports of Chinese swallow's nest from Indonesia in the same period in 2019.
"Therefore, I hope that this cooperation can continue to be improved because I believe the Chinese people like swallow's nest from Indonesia," said the Ambassador.
The Ambassador and his entourage had the opportunity to visit importing and processing companies for swallow nests in Xiamen, such as Da Zhou Xin Yan Biotech Co Ltd, which 90 percent of its processed products are from swallow's nest from Indonesia and Yan Palace Seelong Food Co Ltd which 100 percent of its processed products are also from bird nests. swallow from Indonesia.
"Currently, only 23 swallow nest companies from Indonesia have received permission from Chinese Customs to export. We are still discussing intensively with the Chinese government to add the 13 companies they inspected in December last year as well as requests for permits to increase export volume from all companies. registration can be completed soon so that the export value of swallow's nest products can increase, given this very significant demand in China, "said Atdag Marina added.
