Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the United States (US) is willing to help Indonesia to procure the COVID-19 vaccine.
This was revealed during a meeting between Coordinating Minister Luhut Pandjaitan and US Vice President Mike Pence during his working visit to the United States last week.
"With Vice President Pence, I spoke for almost 15 minutes. We finally talked about the issue of vaccines. And America is willing to help with vaccines," said Coordinating Minister Luhut Pandjaitan during his closing remarks at the virtual CEONetworking 2020 event, Tuesday.
Coordinating Minister Luhut said on Monday (23/11) last night his party had also followed up on the plan through a video conference with Deputy Minister of BUMN Budi Gunawan Sadikin and BPOM. One of the US vaccine companies, Pfizer, is also said to be working together in procuring vaccines with Bio Farma.
"Last night we followed up, we had video calls with the Under Secretary of Health, and with Deputy Minister Budi Gunadi, as well as BPOM. Pfizer too, to collaborate with our Bio Farma," said Coordinating Minister Luhut.
Previously, during his working visit to the US, last week, apart from meeting with President Donald Trump, the Vice President of the United States Mike Pence also received Luhut in his office. Pence offers joint vaccine production cooperation between US and Indonesian companies. (Antaranews)
