The Indonesian Motorcycle Producers Association (AISI) targets an increase in motorcycle sales this year to reach 5.9 to 6.1 million units. AISI spokesperson Sigit Kumala told Tempo recently that they predict that sales will rise 3 to 4 percent. He  explained sales will rise along with the issuance of several policies. Such as  higher charges for vehicle registration certificate and vehicle ownership document,  the policy from Financial Services Authority and no increase in fuel price this year. In 2017, motorcycle sales dropped. From January–November, the sales decreased to slightly lower than the sales of the same period in the previous year which was  5.49 million units.///(tempo)

The Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry has expressed its support to Egy Maulana Vikri, a top player of Indonesia`s under-19s national soccer team to become a professional player in Europe. The Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Imam Nahrawi said that the ministry will support Egy`s ambition to play in Europe and other part of the world. They make room for him to choose which club and country are appropriate. The minister made the statement in a gathering with the players of Timnas U-19 recently. Egy (17) is currently studying in the Sports Vocational Schools (SKO) in Ragunan, Jakarta. The minister explained that Egy of course has consideration to choose a certain football club and country in Europe, such as the aspects of psychology and language. He still has one to two months to decide the club and the country to play with. Nahrawi, however, reminded Egy, despite the support,  to be ready to strengthen the national football team if the country needs him. He noted that playing everywhere is a citizen`s right, but if the national team needs him, including in the 18th Asian Games games, Egy must go home and strengthen the national team. In addition to Egy, the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry will also supports other young players to play abroad in a bid to get additional experience and technical capability. (antara)

Head of Indonesia’s National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) Joko Setiady in Meeting with media at BSSN Building Jakarta Friday afternoon (05/01) said Indonesia’s National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) is a new institution established by the Indonesian government to provide security and protection from cyber crime. This Agency immediately takes concrete steps to complement facilities and infrastructure including the addition of Human Resources as an effort to support execution of duties. It was stated by Head of Indonesia’s National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) Joko Setiady in Meeting with media at BSSN Building Jakarta Friday afternoon (05/01).

"The short term is mainly to maintain security, to protect that is in the cyber region of our country. This institution needs more human resources to work. Of course we will recruit with certain conditions to strengthen cyber body. Furthermore, we will immediately work with the stages that we have prepared. Just  for information, the budget for BSSN will be discussed later,  on January 16 through the commission I of the House," he said.


Joko Setiady also said that besides securing government agencies and the private sector, it is expected that BSSN also protect the public from cyber crime in any form and even protect people from the crime of terrorism through early detection. (AF, transby Alika)

President Joko Widodo appreciated the decreasing number of poor people in Indonesia.
