The coronavirus outbreak has more complex impact on the global economy than 2008 global economic pressure fueled by US investment bank Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy. This was stated by Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. The coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak has put direct pressure on individuals and not through the financial sector as in 2008, the minister noted at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (5/3). The direct pressure on individuals has disrupted economic and other activities of the community, including the closure of schools and factories, thereby resulting in a delay in the realization of public activities, including production, as quoted by Antara. The short-term impact of the 2008 global economic pressure only touched financial service institutes, while the coronavirus outbreak has a real impact on public activities, including the economy. Canadian Embassy in Indonesia and its mission for Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN are organizing Speed Mentoring for Women professional, the future leader of Indonesia.

The event is held in the residence of Canadian ambassador in Indonesia, Cameron MacKay, Thursday, March 5th to celebrated The International Women Day.

Ambassador MacKay said Canada is committed to empowering women to become leader.

"Let me say that Canadian government is committed to a feminist foreign policy, to a feminist international assistance policy. I think Prime Minister Trudeau was very clear when he took off as in 2015 and he appointed 50 percents of ministers in his cabinet were female. He was very clear he wanted feminism to be a key part of his government mandate. And we're following up on that today by helping to generate the next generation of women leaders in Indonesia" Ambassador said. 

Ambassador MacKay said that women participation in any societies is very important for economic and competitiveness. This speed mentoring is opportunity for mentor and participants to share their insights, experiences dan suggestions to overcome any obstacles. In this event the women professional could discuss many ways to support each other.

Canadian Embassy is providing 12 mentors that is leader in many fields such as diplomats, businesses and non government organization. There are Sweden Ambassador Marina Berg, Ireland Ambassador Olivia Leslie, businesswoman Shinta Kamdani from Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alissa Wahid from Wahid Institute and the famous Chef Farah Quinn//NK

Garuda Indonesia is flying on schedule to and from Incheon, Seoul, South Korea despite coronavirus outbreak.

Presiden Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra in the statement on Thursday (5/3) said the airline is flying 14 times a week from Jakarta to Seoul and Denpasar to Seoul.

Before,The Indonesia Foreign Ministry released the new policy about prohibiting the arrival and transit passenger who travelling to Iran, Italy and South Korea in the last 14 days.（ant/antin）

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif stated that Indonesian  government will take strategic steps to increase oil production. After attending the Closed Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Office in  Jakarta on Wednesday (03/04/2020)  , Minister Arifin Tasrif explained that  the several steps taken by the government are such as maintaining existing oil production levels and increasing exploration steps. Besides, Indonesian government also plans to increase the mobilization of qualified empowers so that the oil production can be optimal //

"The government keeps production levels in the fields. Then,  it can also conduct a resource program to be production , so sources detected have the potential to start production immediately. Besides, the programs to  recover are   through steam-flood, chemical enhanced oil recovery.  Then,  exploration in new fields, which have been detected in order to produce quickly. The target can be done within a period of 10 years. We still also  have 13,000 former drilling holes left. If we reactivate, we can still hope that this will produce additional oil production. The number of 13,000 is large and we need to mobilize experts and equipment to be able to optimize the production" Minister said. 

Besides, discussing efforts to increase national oil production, the Closed Cabinet Meeting also discussed the Electricity Program Ecosystem Structuring. Arifin Tasrif also stated  that related to electricity, the government is discussing a new strategy that would be implemented to optimize electricity absorption.
