VOInews, Jakarta : Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut B. Pandjaitan revealed that the Naval Hydro-Oceanography Center (Pushidrosal) is one of the institutions that has an important role in achieving the vision of Indonesia 2025. He conveyed this while attending the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) Hydrography in 2024 in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/06/2024).

"The results of our study show that Pushidrosal from the start has had a very big role in our Republic, one of which is an important role for the vision of Indonesia 2025," said Coordinating Minister Luhut at the location.

Coordinating Minister Luhut explained that Pushidrosal's intended role was to be part of making Indonesia a high-income country and the center of world maritime civilization. Indonesia must be able to optimize the use and management of maritime resources, one of which is through Pushidrosal.

"In this case, hydrography or seabed mapping is a basic requirement for optimizing the use of maritime resources. "Through detailed seabed mapping, activities in various sectors at sea will increase and produce added value and large employment opportunities," he explained.

Considering that Indonesia is the largest maritime country in the world, continued Coordinating Minister Luhut, Indonesia should be a leader in the maritime sector, including in terms of mapping the Indonesian seabed. Mapping the seabed and maritime resource potential must be a national priority for future development. Indonesia must be able to increase seabed mapping coverage significantly in the next 5-10 years.

"For this reason, it is necessary to strengthen Pushidrosal and increase collaboration between Ministries, Institutions, universities and the private sector. "Apart from that, technology must also be used to speed up seabed mapping, one of which is collaborating with international partners in the short term," he said.

Meanwhile, in the medium to long term, Indonesia must build its fleet capacity to carry out seabed mapping surveys. These steps must be carefully designed in the medium to long term road map for exploration and mapping of the Indonesian seabed, with sufficient funding and budget support to accelerate seabed mapping.

"I told the KSAL (Chief of Naval Staff Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali) that Pushidrosal is an institution whose role must be strengthened further, so that it is more than it is now. We need to strengthen Pushidrosal. "Therefore, I hope that this meeting can get a lot of input for this beloved country," explained Coordinating Minister Luhut.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday (25/06/24), Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali revealed that through today's momentum, Pushidrosal initiated the National Coordination Meeting on Hydrogaphy with the theme of the importance of hydrogaphy to support national defense and development, which is none other than to show Pushidrosal's fighting spirit to strengthen its existence as an Institution Military Hydrography and National Hydrography in the framework of national development.

"This National Coordination Meeting is also intended as a form of public accountability for Pushidrosal's performance so far, both in the field of defense, support for navigation safety, national and international hydrographic cooperation, as well as public support in other maritime fields," concluded KSAL Muhammad Ali//VOI
