President Joko Widodo appreciates the support of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for Indonesia's G20 Presidency.

President Joko Widodo said that the success of the G20 is a joint responsibility of all G20 countries.

“Nice to meet again after His Majesty's last visit last June in Bogor. I really appreciate Your Excellency's presence at this G20 Summit and Australia's support throughout the Indonesian Presidency," the President said during a bilateral meeting, Monday (14/11), at The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

Regarding the bilateral relations between the two countries, President Joko Widodo appreciated the value of trade in goods between the two countries which reached US$12.64 billion in 2021, an increase of 76.84%.

"We must continue to maximize the implementation of the IA-CEPA in order to accelerate economic recovery," said the President.

During the meeting, the President also mentioned concrete cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, including through the implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.

"Under the chairmanship of Indonesia, next year I will invite Australia to participate in the Indo-Pacific Infrastructure Forum," said President Jokowi.

Also present accompanying President Jokowi at the meeting were the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, Director General for Asia Pacific and Africa Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani. President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyib Erdogan, Monday (14/11), at The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

President Joko Widodo expressed his appreciation to Turkey which continues to contribute so that the G20 can continue to work.

“Thank you for coming to the G20 Summit. For Indonesia, the G20 must be able to produce concrete cooperation," said the President.

As two world leaders who are both concerned about efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the two presidents also exchanged ideas on what can be done together to find a peaceful solution and to prevent negative impacts globally, particularly on food and energy security.

With regard to bilateral relations, President Joko Widodo encouraged the two countries to continue to work on negotiating the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which includes major trade agreements to be finalized as soon as possible.

"We must instruct the negotiators so that existing obstacles are immediately sought for a solution that is acceptable to both parties and an agreement is immediately finalized," said the Head of State.

The two Presidents also noted progress in bilateral relations between the two countries by signing a number of strategic agreements between governments and between business actors.

Several agreements between the government that were signed by the Ministers shortly before the meeting of the two Presidents included agreements in the fields of defence, forestry, environment, research-technology and innovation as well as development cooperation agreements.

While the agreement between business actors includes an agreement on electric bus production cooperation in Indonesia between Karsan and Credo Group as well as an agreement for the construction of the Trans-Sumatera Toll Road.

During the meeting, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Indonesian Ambassador to Ankara Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, and Director General for America Europe Ministry of Foreign Affairs Umar Hadi. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) stated that no Indonesian citizens (WNI) were victims of the explosion in Turkey. It was previously reported that a bomb exploded in the center of Istanbul on Sunday (11/14/2022) at 16:20 local time.

As a result of the explosion, as many as six people were killed and 81 people were injured. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, before leaving for Bali for the G20 summit, called it a 'heinous attack reeks of terrorism'.​

"Until now, there is no information about Indonesian citizens who are victims," ​​said a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday (14/11/2022). It was stated that the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara and the Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul had coordinated with local authorities and the Indonesian community around the location.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are currently around 500 Indonesian citizens living in Istanbul. The location of the bomb explosion on Istiklal Avenue is one of the favorite destinations for foreign tourists, including Indonesian citizens.

For this reason, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks Indonesian citizens in Istanbul and its surroundings to be vigilant. "Avoid crowded places if there is no urgent need," said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, Indonesian citizens there are also asked to contact local authorities and Indonesian representatives if they experience an emergency. The Indonesian government condemns the bomb attack in Istanbul and hopes that the perpetrators are immediately arrested. (RRI)

President Joko Widodo believes that Tesla, the world's electric vehicle company from the United States, will build a factory in Indonesia. This was conveyed in an interview with The Economist, quoted Monday (14/11/2022).

The president acknowledged that the government is still negotiating with Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, regarding the plan. "But I believe they will build a battery factory and car industry in Indonesia," he said.

According to the Head of State, Indonesia is one of the big markets in the electric vehicle sector. "I believe in it and it is an opportunity," he said.

Previously, President Jokowi had met Elon Musk during a visit to the United States last May. After that, the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahdalia stated that Tesla would invest in Indonesia.
