Russian association of cyber-tech companies has shown interest in sharing knowledge and supporting the Indonesian government’s plan to improve the country's human capital on cyber-technology.  

On the sidelines of an "Exports of Technological Sovereignty" workshop in Jakarta, the head of the Association for Exports of Technological Sovereignty (ASSETS), Andrey Bezrukoz, said here Tuesday that a large number of the workforce in Indonesia has potential when it comes to developing the cyber-technology sectors.
 
On the other hand, Russia has been widely acknowledged as one of the few states in the world with the most advanced cyber-technology sector, he added.
 
"The meeting is just a start as what we would like to do is to create a permanent base of cooperation of technology between leading companies and universities of the two countries. Today's event is a start for technology exchanges, and of course, it also means training people," Bezrukoz explained.

Meanwhile, a non-governmental body Indonesia Cyber Security Forum (ICSF) explained that the number of cyber-technology graduates and experts in the country remained low, although the need for cyber experts was relatively high.
 
"I was greatly concerned about our human capital's capacity when it comes to cyber-technology as it was not determined by the machine or the tools, but the man who creates and develops it. However, now, graduates of cyber-technology appear to be a rarity in the country," Ardi  Sutedja, the chairman of ICSF, said.
 
Therefore, a collaboration to train people remained crucial to develop the cyber-technology sector in Indonesia, according to Sutedja.

Russia was one of few countries with most advanced cyber-technology development in the world beside US and China, Sutedja said.
 
Therefore, the offer from ASSETS was a fine opportunity for Indonesia to enhance its knowledge on cyber-technology, he believed.
 
"Russia had protected its technology for years, but now it is reaching out to other countries. The main purpose of this workshop is, of course, business, but I see the Russian companies are also keen to collaborate with us on developing a new platform," he added. (ANTARA)

Russia's Association for Exports of Technological Sovereignty (ASSETS) is eyeing cooperation with Indonesian firms and universities to develop cybersecurity technology, group's chairman, Andrey Bezrukoz, remarked here at the "Exports of Technological Sovereignty" workshop’s sidelines, Tuesday.

Bezrukoz noted that six Russian tech companies and two university representatives that he presented during today's meeting were drawn to collaborating with governments, colleges, and companies in Indonesia to develop some technologies as a precautionary measure against cyber threats.

"There are two key sectors that Russia can offer for cooperation, the first being cybersecurity due to the cyber threat that has been a cause for concern for everybody, and our country has an advanced technology on cybersecurity," Bezrukoz, who also led Russia's business delegations, stated.

He explained that cybersecurity technology had become one of the top requirements of not only government bodies but also businesses in various sectors, including banking, services, information and communication, manufacture, construction, as well as oil and gas explorations.

Hence, apart from cybersecurity technology, the Russian business group also invited the Indonesian government and businesses to develop smart government, or E-Government technology.

"Russia has a very advanced Smart Government system, and Moscow, for instance, had utilized smart city technology to not only monitor traffic but also other sectors, such as communication," he pointed out.

On a separate occasion, a non-governmental body Indonesia Cyber Security Forum (ICSF) lauded the meeting, as it was believed to offer benefits to not only experts, academicians, practitioners, and companies in Indonesia, the chairman, Ardi Sutedja noted on the sidelines of the event.

He stated that Russia was one of the three countries with the most advanced cyber technology in the world.  

"The other two are the United States and China," he added.

For Sutedja, involved in the issue of cybersecurity for years, the meeting had offered not only business cooperation but also an initiative to collaborate on designing a new technology to avoid cyber threats.

The workshop was attended by six Russian companies and representatives of two universities that include Geoscan LTD, BI.ZONE, Trusted Access Technologies, T8 LLC, Tomsk University, and Irkutsk National Research University (ANTARA)

Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fishery noted the increasing value of Gross Domestic Product of Fishery in the 2^nd Quarter 2019 is worth Rp 62.24 trillion compared the same period in 2018 worth Rp 58.58 trillion. Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fishery, Susi Pudjiastuti stated when giving explanation related to Performance Achievement of the Ministry 2019 in Jakarta on Monday (9/9), that growth rate of Fishery’s GDP of Indonesia in the 2^nd Quarter 2019 reached 6.25 percent. The figure is higher compared the same period in 2018, which was only 4.83 percent.

“The 2^nd quarter contribution of fishery GDP was based on price  2014-2018. The price is revised by ministerial regulation. We hope with the revision of the regulation, its value will increase, because the price is still based on the 2014 price,” said Susi Pudjiastuti.

Minister Susi Pudjiastuti further stated that the potential of Fishery GDP can be increased because this year, there are some more.  On the same occasion, she also pointed out that many Indonesian fishing vessels through Citra satellite are parking in Papua New Guinea region. Minister Susi suspected that there are still illegal fish sales on the sea to foreign party. As a result, this is not recorded at her ministry. (VOI-Gus/Trans-Yati)

The internet can function as a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the internet has many opportunities, but on the other hand, the internet also has many challenges. The problem is how humans can take advantage of opportunities and overcome these challenges. It was stated by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in her remarks at the Regional Conference on Digital Diplomacy, in Jakarta, Tuesday (09/10). She said the internet could be used in diplomacy for various purposes. One of them is to spread peace.

"Allow me to present four ideas in trying to address those questions. First to use digital diplomacy to spread the message of peace. New Internet technology and media tools should be utilized in countering the growing threat of violent extremism and hatred on the net. is the area that the international community should further explore. And this is where diplomacy is needed," said Retno Marsudi.

In addition to spreading peace, Retno Marsudi also said digital diplomacy via the internet could also be used as a tool for economic cooperation, a tool to protect Indonesian citizens abroad and as a development tool. The Regional Conference on Digital Diplomacy (RCDD) was attended by around 100 delegates from 16 countries, including Australia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, India and South Korea.
