The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno on E-sport summit - 

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno supports the holding of the “Indonesia Esports Summit 2022: Bali 14th World Esports Championship” which will be held in Bali on December 2-11 2022.

Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno during “The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno” at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (29/8/2022), said that the implementation of the 'Indonesia Esports Summit 2022: Bali 14th World Esports Championship' directly participated in achieving target 1 .1 million jobs in 2022 and 4.4 million new jobs in 2024.

The E-sports Summit is an annual celebration of the Indonesian e-sports ecosystem initiated by the Indonesian E-sports Executive Board and involves all Indonesian e-sports stakeholders ranging from game publishers, game developers, pro-teams, athletes, influencers, brands, communities, media , and local and homeland indie games.

"This is interesting, because Indonesian tourism has started to recover, but if you look at Bali, the metric data that we follow, Bali has not fully recovered. Meanwhile, Yogyakarta, Bandung, are much more recovered. In Bali, the occupancy rate of this hotel is very low, so we appreciate this," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga.

Sandiaga said that this event was also clear evidence of the development of e-sports in Indonesia. Esports provides many opportunities for the younger generation to work and have a career.

"In addition to being an achievement sport, the e-sport community in Indonesia has also developed into a lifestyle and culture for the younger generation," said Sandiaga.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday, the Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Neil El Hilman, said that Indonesia has great potential to develop games made by the nation's children. Kemenparekraf will continue to develop the ecosystem.

"What we need in the future is to build the ecosystem so that our games can finally be used out there and can be competed internationally," said Neil.

Event Director of the Indonesia Esports Summit 2022, Diana Sutrisno, said that the Indonesia Esports Summit: Bali 14th World Esports Championships will be the largest outdoor e-sports event in the world. The participants will take part in e-sport activities while enjoying the beauty of the beach and the beautiful natural charm of Bali.

"We are here for the first time, the biggest e-sport event in the world, we invite 120 countries with 700 athletes to compete offline in Bali. This is the event that we take the challenge in outdoor, for the first time Indonesian e-sports have an outdoor competition, this time we make it on the beach, because unfortunately we have a beach, there is a view to see, "said Diana.

Director of Policy and Advocacy of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), Stephen Wyber, stated that to build an inclusive future in the digital era and prepare human resources to face global competition, the education sector must be addressed as a whole. At this time, he stressed, the most important thing is to provide opportunities for the community to learn what they need with a caring approach.

This was conveyed by Stephen Wyber in the webinar Urban-20 (U20) Side Event with the theme Enabling Cities, Caring Cities which was held in a hybrid manner by the National Library of Indonesia (NLI), Tuesday (30/8/2022). IFLA is an international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users.

Furthermore, Stephen reminded not only to fixate on formal education. According to him, education should be extended to libraries and adult learning institutions. Both are infrastructures that care about the welfare and future of the people in every city in the world.

"What is expected from the end of today's activity is that we get some key messages and good ideas about how we can carry out the role of libraries and adult learning institutions to become a key part of the agenda of the government of the Republic of Indonesia based on the G20 Presidency event," he hoped.

According to a release received by Voice fo Indonesia on Tuesday, the head of the National Library of Indonesia, Muhammad Syarif Bando, stated that based on records from Bappenas and BPS, most Indonesians are involved as heads of families with a general education certificate. Therefore, the community needs to be educated through non-formal education.

He also invites all levels of society to change the paradigm of libraries in the world so that they can be transformed and their presence is felt by the community. He hoped that the library would no longer be a symbol. 

“Our mission is to convince anyone that he can change with a book that is relevant to his economic choice. Because the role of helping marginalized communities with applied science books is very important,” he explained when giving his speech.

Meanwhile, the President of the South Asia Pacific Association of Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE), Nani Zulminarni, said that actually there are six situations in which a person can be excluded from the process of lifelong education and learning.

The six situations consist of gender and age, disability and diffability, social status, location, methodology and approach, as well as topic and focus. According to him, these six situations are in line with the remarks from the Head of the National Library of Indonesia. For this reason, the library paradigm must change so that it is better able to answer the needs of the community.

“Librarians must be able to support the learning process through books, stories, data, information in the library, as well as research results to become a source of educational learning for a more inclusive society. The phrase 'education is not limited to school' must be interpreted as a lifelong learning process," concluded Nani.

Preparation meeting to G20 summit in Bali -

Pandjaitan chairing the Coordination Meeting for the Preparation of the 2022 G20 Presidency for Indonesia on Tuesday, 30 August 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali. The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, (Vice President) K.H. Ma'ruf Amin, who was also present, stated that Indonesia was 100 percent ready to hold the G20 Summit.

"Earlier I was given various information regarding the preparations for the G20 Summit, I saw that Indonesia was 100 percent ready to hold this G20 Summit. I hope that we really have to be good hosts. A host who can provide perfect service and make an impression on the delegates ," said Vice President K.H. Ma'ruf Amin.

In addition, the Vice President also emphasized that the Indonesian G20 national committee should learn from the previous G20 Summit. This is because the delegates who will attend the G20 Summit will be heads of state and heads of international institutions, so they must bring a good image of Indonesia.

“Our agenda is also an agenda that wants to bring the common good, rise together, be strong together, in facing various challenges and recovery, but our implementation is in various aspects, from security services to accommodation. However, the entire series of events that started it also needs to be considered for the smoothness and success of its implementation.

"I remind you again that the G20 is not only about the summit on November 15-16, but also the whole series leading up to the D day. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to all aspects, starting from security, logistics and infrastructure, health, communication and media, and side events which have been held since a few months ago. COP President Alok Sharma - 

COP26 President Alok Sharma will travel to Bali from 30 August-1 September to lead the UK delegation attending the G20. The visit is a critical opportunity to engage with G20 Climate Ministers to maintain momentum and drive action on climate, environment and biodiversity ahead of COP27. He will use the climate sessions to lobby G20 countries to move faster to limit global temperature increase to below 1.5 degrees. The COP26 President will push for climate action through emission reductions this decade, noting that accelerating energy transitions and building net zero green sectors is crucial to long-term economic security and sustainable development. Mr Sharma will continue to reiterate that current global crises relating to Vladimir Putin’s illegal, unprovoked and barbaric invasion of Ukraine and rises in the cost of living should increase G20 countries’ determination to accelerate the shift to renewables and deliver on the Glasgow Climate Pact. 

“The current energy crisis has demonstrated the vulnerability of countries relying on fossil fuels controlled by hostile actors. If Countries don’t want the risk of being held to ransom they should do all they can to achieve domestic energy security as fast as possible.” Alok Shara said.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday the COP President will also meet with Indonesian Ministers to welcome the country’s ongoing work to enhance its climate ambitions, encourage them to submit a 1.5C aligned Nationally Determined Contribution as soon as possible, and to place climate action and energy transition as a central aspect of their G20 Presidency. 

“Some Countries have already come forward with great ambition but the science clearly shows our window to act is closing rapidly. Now is the time for the G20 to step up and deliver on the commitments made in the Glasgow Climate Pact.” Sharma added. 

The Glasgow Climate Pact sets out a clear framework for progress ahead of COP27 including calling on countries to phase-down unabated coal power and phase-out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies. Requesting that countries revisit and strengthen their 2030 emissions reduction targets as necessary to align with the Paris temperature goal by the end of this year. Urging developed countries to scale-up climate finance, including delivery of the collective $100bn joint mobilisation goal as soon as possible and through to 2025, and to double finance for adaptation by 2025 on 2019 levels. Underlining the central importance of adaptation, the dangers of loss and damage, and the need to scale-up action and support for both. Nationally Determined Contributions represent efforts made by each country to reduce emissions towards achieving the Paris temperature goal//VOI
