Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has urged government and regional government institutions, state-owned companies, regional government-owned companies, private companies, and the public to use domestic products.
"The central government’s capital expenditure will potentially increase to Rp607.7 trillion in 2021. The potential can be used optimally to spend on domestic products," he said during a campaign to increase the use of local products at AK-Tektil in Solo, Central Java on Friday.
The Industry Ministry will support the certification of locally-sourced inputs for nine thousand different products, he said.
The certification will be useful for industries to expand their products' access to the market, particularly ministries, institutions, state-owned companies, and even private companies, as they will be able to enter their products in the e-catalog, he added.
The government wants all domestic products to receive a portion of budget funds for the procurement of domestic goods and services, both through the state budget and the budget of state-owned companies and regional governments, the minister said.
"To take optimum advantage of the opportunities for the procurement (of goods and services), manufacturing companies need to obtain certificates for their products so that they can be recognized as domestic products that have value as much as the local content," he added.
Kartasasmita said his ministry is planning to exclude imported products from the e-catalog if such products are made domestically with 40 percent locally-sourced inputs//ANT
