Deputy III of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Panutan Sulendrakusuma, emphasized the importance of creating a halal ecosystem. This is to realize Indonesia as the center of the halal industry by 2024, as the ideals of President Joko Widodo.

"We can no longer work in a normal way, considering the targets set for the empowerment of the halal industry. Including the target for halal certification," Panutan told reporters, Friday (26/8/2022).

Panutan said, to realize a halal ecosystem, it is necessary to accelerate the halal certification process for micro and small businesses (UMK). As mandated by the Job Creation Law and PP 39/2021 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Assurance Sector.

In addition, he said, halal certification for MSEs is carried out with a halal statement and rolling out a free halal certificate program. By 2022, the government is targeting at least 25,000 MSEs to get halal certificates.

"This target is the first step to meet the big target. That is halal certification for 10 million MSME actors," he said.

To meet the target of 10 million halal certificates, the government has prepared a number of strategies. Among them are improving the quality and quantity of halal companions and supervisors.

In addition, there is also an increase in the reliability of the application of the halal product assurance agency (BPJPH) for the halal registration and certification process. As well as encouraging halal training into the curriculum of Islamic universities.

"The government will also conduct systematic and massive education to business actors about the halal product process. Including more effective approaches such as cultural approaches," he said.

In accordance with Presidential Decree 10/2021 concerning the Task Force for the Acceleration of Socialization of the Job Creation Law, the Presidential Staff Office conducts monitoring. Including an evaluation of the implementation of the Job Creation Law and its derivative regulations, one of which is the halal certification program. (RRI)
