Indonesia-Denmark Discuss National Disaster Management Program

The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate met with the Danish Ambassador to Indonesia, Lars Bo Larsen. This meeting is to discuss bilateral cooperation in community protection and disaster management programs.

"The program is for community protection and disaster management. This program has technology from Denmark which is offered to Indonesia," he said at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics official residence in South Jakarta, Friday (16/9/2022).

Johnny said the Danish Government is also actively communicating with ministries and agencies across relevant sectors. So that this Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) can be adopted in Indonesia.

"Currently we are talking with Bappenas how the project will be financed through Danish government funding. The Danish government is also currently communicating with the Ministry of Finance as usual for projects or developments financed through G2G financing," he said.

In the current era, digital technology has been presented, one of which can be used for disaster management. Both from the early warning system, during disaster, and post disaster.

Johnny considered that the PPDR program was suitable for Indonesia given its geographical location in the "Ring of Fire" area. Where the potential for various natural disasters in the country.

"This program is quite large and important for Indonesia. Considering that Indonesia is in the Ring of Fire area, which often occurs in disasters," he said. (RRI)
