Indonesian Ambassador to Kenya highlights achievements of business cooperation between Indonesia and Kenya

The Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya held a diplomatic reception to commemorate the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on Friday (3/10/2024). As quoted by Antara state news agency, in his remarks at the diplomatic reception, the Indonesian Ambassador to Kenya, Mohamad Hery Saripudin highlighted the achievements of cooperation between Indonesia and Kenya. He also said the cooperation achievements were marked by the implementation of various bilateral agreements, including 15 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed during President Joko Widodo's visit to Kenya in August 2023.

Besides, Ambassador Hery Saripudin also highlighted the success of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) held in Bali and the 2nd Indonesia-Nairobi Expo (IndoNEX) event in September 2024.

Ambassador Hery Saripudin also praised Indonesia-Kenya cooperation in multilateral forums in global efforts to preserve the environment and resolution of humanitarian issues. He affirmed Indonesia's commitment to continue to strengthen relations and enhance Indonesia's cooperation with Kenya. On that occasion, Ambassador Hery Saripudin also hoped that Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto could visit Indonesia to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (KAA) in April 2025.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, Kenya's Minister of Mines and Blue Economy, Hassan Ali Joho, called the Asia-Africa Conference (KAA) in 1955 as the forerunner of the Non-Aligned Summit and South-South Cooperation.

Moreover, he also appreciated the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum which encouraged concrete cooperation in the fields of sustainable green energy, blue economy, vaccine development, and climate change management. Then, according to Hassan Ali Joho,  Kenya will continue to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of interest to Kenya and Indonesia. Kenya is ready to host the 3rd RI-Kenya Bilateral Consultation Meeting, to discuss the progress and prospects for future cooperation between the two countries.
