VOInews, Bintan – The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, emphasized the importance of enhancing destination facilities during a visit to the Busung Desert in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands. Known for its stunning blue lakes surrounded by expansive desert landscapes, this former mining site has emerged as a unique and captivating tourist destination.
"This is truly one of the most breathtaking destinations," stated Ni Luh Puspa during her working visit on Wednesday, 1 January 2024. Accompanied by Bintan Regent Roby Kurniawan, the Deputy Minister took the time to explore the lake area and photograph several iconic spots that draw visitors.
During her visit, Ni Luh Puspa emphasized the need for improved infrastructure and supportive facilities to enhance the destination's appeal. She highlighted the necessity of organizing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) spaces to offer a more comfortable experience for tourists. "Providing well-organized and shaded MSME stands will undoubtedly enhance their attractiveness," she remarked.
At the same event, Ni Luh Puspa symbolically inaugurated the Souvenir House, aimed at fostering MSME development in the area. She underscored that such initiatives could contribute to more sustainable and enriching tourist experiences.
According to Ni Luh Puspa, the Riau Islands hold immense tourism potential, featuring distinct natural wonders, rich cultural heritage, and unique culinary traditions. "I am optimistic after witnessing the breathtaking beauty and tourism potential in Kepri. I also see a strong commitment from the governor and regent. I am confident that Kepri’s tourism will continue to flourish," she said.
Joining her on this visit were Guntur Sakti, Head of the Riau Islands Tourism Office, along with officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, including Acting Deputy for Destination Development and Infrastructure, Hariyanto, and Director of Domestic Tourism Marketing, Dwi Marhen Yono. According to kemenpar.go.id, this visit is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen Riau Islands’ tourism sector, positioning the region as a leading destination both nationally and internationally.
