Commemorating Youth Pledge, Indonesian Embassy promotes Indonesian film and Game in North Korea

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Pyongyang, North Korea promoted Indonesian films and traditional games in commemoration of the 92nd Youth Pledge Day. Indonesian Ambassador to North Korea, Berlian Napitupulu invited all staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang along with their families and local Korean staffs to watch an Indonesian film entitled ‘Rudy Habibie’ (Habibie & Ainun 2) directed by Hanung Bramantyo at the Indonesian ambassador’s residence in Pyongyang on October 28, 2020. Ambassador Berlian, as conveyed in a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang received in Jakarta, on Thursday (29/10) stated that this year, the Indonesian Embassy celebrated Youth Pledge Day in a different way, namely by watching a film together, Rudy Habibie Film, and the highlight of the 92nd Youth Pledge Day commemoration through live streaming and introducing Congklak, an Indonesian traditional game, especially to local North Korean staffs.

Ambassador Berlian further stated that the Covid-19 pandemic did not stop Indonesian citizens in North Korea to commemorate the Youth Pledge even without a ceremony. He was happy to watch this Rudy Habibie film. According to Ambassador Berlian, this film is very inspiring and educative for everybody. Habibie's dream of making airplanes from a young age later developed into a big dream to develop advanced Indonesia by building the aviation industry.

According to Ambassador Berlian Napitupulu, this film is in line with the theme of this year's Youth Pledge Day, namely Unity and Awakening. In addition to watching the film, Ambassador Berlian also invited the audience, both North Korean and Indonesian staff, to discuss the lessons or values obtained from the Rudy Habibie film.
