Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Rusdi Kirana, stated that it is time for Indonesia to do a temporary moratorium on sending Indonesian Migrant Workers.  He added Moratorium should be done, to give opportunities to restructure employment administration process, so that in the future there will be no adverse incident harming the Indonesian Migrant Workers in Malaysia, especially workers at the informal sector such as household assistants.

“The moratorium is very important, not for good, only temporary, but in the meantime what has to be done for us is restructuring. We have employment administration process there. If the incident like Adelina's happen again, it will harm the good name of Indonesia, as well as the good name of Malaysia, and the relationship of these two countries will not be good. I'm sure Malaysian officials are really angry with this incident,” Rusdi Kirana said to the media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RI, Jakarta, recently.

In connection with the death of Indonesian Migrant Workers from East Nusa Tenggara, Adelina Jemirah, in Penang, Malaysia, Rusdi Kirana stated that he will continue to seek to get all her rights and justice in the legal process. So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia still continues to provide assistance to Adelina. An investigation conducted on two suspects was conducted using article 302 of the Malaysian Penal Code on Planned Murder with capital punishment // (VOI/Rezha/AHM)

The 14th Campus Convention and the 20th Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Rector Forum held at Hasanuddin Makassar Campus on 15th and 16th February, resulted six recommendations. This was stated by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol Unit of Hasanuddin University Ishaq Rahman, in Makassar, Friday (16/2). As quoted by Antara, the six recommendations are encouraging universities to innovate and conduct research that can be utilized optimally to support economic sector and nation's competitiveness, encouraging the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education to de-bureaucratization and deregulation on licensing to answer problem of disruption era and industrial revolution 4.0. In addition, the recommendations also touched on restoring the values ​​of Pancasila in the life of nation and state through various strategies and steps that must be done by all institutions, especially by universities. Farmers in Lingga Regency, Riau Islands bordering Singapore and Malaysia, will harvest organic rice on 600 hectares of rice fields. Lingga Regent, Alias Wello, to Radio Republik Indonesia, Friday (16/2) said that organic rice commodities have been developed in the region since 2016 with community self-help, and continued in 2017 with special operations with the Army. In 2018, there will be an expansion of organic rice paddy fields to 2,000 hectares. The harvest is expected to be able to meet rice in this border area so that it can reduce dependence on imported rice. The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association-PHRI stated that tourism in Karangasem regency, Bali began to rise after being paralyzed due to volcanic activity of Mount Agung. As quoted by Antara news agency, Chairman of Karangasem   Hotel and Restaurant Association Wayan Tama, in Amlapura, Bali, Saturday (17/2) mentioned that the average occupancy rate in the regency currently reaches about 20 percent. One of tourism business actors of Karangasem in Tulamben village, Sita Marlina, admitted that the rise of tourists’ visit dominated by tourists from Europe, China and Australia, as if gives a new breath for the economy of the local community. She hoped the related authority would immediately disseminate information related to the development of Mount Agung volcanic activity to the domestic or foreign community, so as not causing panic among the people and tourists.
