Government Confirms Not to Increase National Health Insurance Contribution
Written by Ani HasanahIndonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani ensures the government will not raise National Health Insurance (BPJS) contribution to National Health Insurance participants. In a discussion on the Optimization of the Implementation of the National Health Insurance Program, Wednesday, January 31st in Jakarta, Puan said to overcome the deficit in National Health Insurance, the government is making efforts to revise Presidential Regulation No. 12 of 2013 on National Health Insurance. According to him, the revision of the Presidential Regulation will include breakthrough steps to overcome the deficit of the insurance’s Health financing without having to raise the contribution to the beneficiary contribution (PBI) participants. Puan explained the breakthrough step will synergize the steps of various parties including ministries and local governments.
“So, we need to find a breakthrough in addressing the gap input and financial output of the National Health Insurance. These breakthroughs are made so that it will become the substance of the revised Presidential Regulation No. 12 of 2013 on the National Health Insurance (JKN) which is being done. The revision reaches the substance associated with the policy that can strengthen BPJS Health's financial capacity namely to refine the referral system, the regional government’s roles, strategic purchasing, fraud mitigation, operational efficiency and so on. This we have also gained with the Board of Trustees and others. So how is the input? Of course, there must be cooperation and synergy between all parties. Another breakthrough in increasing the financial capacity of National Health Insurance can be done in accordance with the laws and regulations,” Puan Maharani said.
Before a number of ministers and participants of the discussion, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani also stressed the importance of improving the quality of service to the community participants of the National Health Insurance. This, according to her, should be done in mutual assistance among various related ministries including local government to ensure maximum service to the participants of National Health Insurance. Puan also conveyed the importance of data synchronization of beneficiaries of 92.4 million contributors. In addition, Puan also encourages employers to also register their workers for the National Health Insurance so that the health development in mutual assistance can run. In addition, Puan Maharani also conveys the importance of education and socialization aspects to the public regarding the importance of National Health Insurance. Indonesia Supports Full Membership of Timor Leste in ASEAN

The continuation of East Timor's membership in ASEAN itself will soon be discussed by the ASEAN Secretary-General in Jakarta. This was stated by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno L.P. Marsudi on the sidelines of a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Timor Leste, Aurellio Gutteres at Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
“For the membership of East Timor in ASEAN, the Foreign Minister has just returned from Singapore. Now, ASEAN membership is in Singapore and the issue will also e discussed later in the afternoon and will be discussed also with the ASEAN Secretary General. And the position of Indonesia is quite clear that we support the application of Timor Leste to become ASEAN member countries and we have gone through a long process,” Retno L.P. Marsudi said.
Minister Retno L.P Marsudi added that in relation to Timor Leste's membership in ASEAN, Indonesia still sees how the results of the study relate to it. However, in principle, Indonesia continues to support Timor Leste's membership in ASEAN.//// (VOI/Rezha/ahm)

Indonesia Committed to Improving Capacity Building Cooperation with Timor Leste

In addition to increasing capacity building cooperation, the Government of Indonesia will also continue the education cooperation for students from Timor Leste who study in Indonesia. It was stated by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi in his press conference after holding a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor Leste, Aurellio Gutteres, at Pancasila Building, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 31st, 2018.
“We agreed to continue, some of which have been conveyed, including educational cooperation for East Timorese students residing in Indonesia and we are also committed to enhancing capacity building cooperation, both in bilateral and trilateral contexts with the state or with others,” Retno L.P. Marsudi said.
Indonesia's commitment in capacity building cooperation with Timor Leste can be seen from the provision of assistance worth 6 million US dollars in the form of sending experts, training, and scholarship to the students of Timor Leste in Indonesia in the period 2013-2017./// (VOI/Rezha/ahm)

DAMRI Plans to Open Kupang-Dili Intercity Bus Service
Written by Ani HasanahThe state-owned land transport company, Perum DAMRI plans to open inter-city bus service from Indonesia to Timor Leste, from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara to Dili, Timor Leste as an effort to increase land connectivity. According to Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi in a press conference on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 in Jakarta, the plan received positive response from the Minsitry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Republic of Timor Leste, Aurellio Gutteres.
“In addition, we also discussed the issue on land connectivity, because DAMRI has a plan to open land route service between Kupang to Dili which was positively welcomed also by the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” Retno L.P. Marsudi said.
So far, to support land connectivity between Indonesia and neighboring countries, Perum DAMRI itself has opened inter-city bus services connecting Indonesia with Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, from Pontianak in West Kalimantan, to Kuching, Malaysia and Bandar Sri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.//// (VOI/Rezha/AHM)
