The Indonesian Government has conducted quick response to the extraordinary condition of malnutrition and measles in Asmat Regency, Papua Province. Director of Nutrition, Directorate General of Nutrition and Maternal and Children Health, Ministry of Health, Doddy Izwardy explained that the directorate general has sent a flying health care team which consists of 39 health workers from various professions to meet the needs of health services at various districts in Asmat Regency. In a special interview with RRI World Service, Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday (22/1), he said that 1.2 tons of medicines has been distributed. To meet the nutrition needs of toddlers in Asmat Regency, Indonesian Ministry of Health has sent toddlers food supplement, food supplement for pregnant mothers and children food supplement from central food reserves. Previously toddlers food supplements and food supplement for pregnant mother have also been sent from the reserves of Papua Province. Meanwhile, food supplement for infants and food supplements for pregnant mothers have been sent in cooperation with Indonesian Military (TNI).
The Association of Indonesian Travel Agencies (ASITA) of Papua stated, that Baliem Valley Festival in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua still becomes the main attraction for foreign tourists to visit Papua. As quoted by Antara, Chairman of ASITA Papua, Iwanta Parangin-Angin, in Jayapura, on Sunday (21/1) said, the average number of foreign tourist arrivals in 2017 reached 100 people per month. But the number can increase dramatically during the implementation of the Baliem Valley Festival on August 8 to 10. According to him, currently travel agents have started to sell travel packages to watch the Festival, held by Jayawijaya Government as an annual routine agenda. Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita kicked off the trade mission on Monday (22/1) to two South Asia countries, India and Pakistan taking with him 61 businesspeople to explore the cooperation with their counterparts in the two countries. He said the trade mission would start from India and then to Pakistan to follow the schedule of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who was conducting his visits to the two countries. In the visit to India, which started on Monday, Enggartiasto took 37 businesspeople from 30 companies, including members of the Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), according to the Indonesian Trade Ministry in a statement on Monday. Meanwhile, the delegation to Pakistan consists of 24 businesspeople from 23 companies, which produce electronic products, agriculture products, ties, textiles, palm oil and its derivative products as well as services, according to the statement. While in India, the minister said, he would raise the issue of the ASEAN-India Business and Investment Meet and Expo in an effort to complete the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) as a follow-up of an ASEAN economic meeting in Singapore recently////JP
