Floating PLTS in Bali that will showcased to the G20 delegates -

The Provincial Government of Bali accelerates its energy self-sufficiency program with new and renewable energy (EBT) starting in 2022 through various policy regulations and the construction of power plants towards the availability of environmentally friendly energy. The Green Bali Plan with Net Zero Emission (NZE) targets to be achieved in 2045, faster than the national target in 2060.

The acceleration is an effort to maintain "Bali Compact" commitment reached by the Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting (ETMM) in Bali last September 2022 as part of the journey of the 2022 G20 Presidency of Indonesia. The commitment contains nine principles that are an essential part to accelerate the energy transition.

"The acceleration of Bali's energy self-sufficiency program with clean energy supports Indonesia as a concrete manifestation of the NRE commitment to accelerate the energy transition of G20 countries," said Ida Bagus Setiawan to the G20 Communications and Media Team, Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022. He is Head of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division of the Bali Province Manpower and Energy and Mineral Resources Office.

Bagus Setiawan said Bali is a pioneer province in preparing various regional regulations and policies in the use of clean energy in line with supporting the primary energy mix towards Bali NZE in 2045.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Sunday (13/11/22), the government is promoting the acceleration until 2022 by underpinning 20 regional and 27 governor regulations. These regulations include regional policies related to energy security and maintaining the balance of Bali's nature.

One of the policies implemented by the Bali Provincial Government is the gradual transition from the use of oil and coal-fired power plants to liquid natural gas (LNG) and new renewable energy (NRE). In addition, it is also gradually revitalizing old power plants that use fossils to be more environmentally friendly.

Based on the latest study from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) research team, in 2022, Bali has potentials for new renewable energy sourced from solar energy. This solar energy source is the highest value, capable of producing 10,000 megawatts (MW). The study mentions that Indonesia can explore other potential sources, including 37 MW of waste-to-energy and 1,000 MW of wind power.

The plan for the development of NRE power plant union will be conducted in stages starting 2021-2030, including 3.5 MW Nusa Penida solar power plant in 2022, 1.3 MW Titab Reservoir in 2023, and 24 MW of West and East Bali in 2023. In addition, power plants spread from Java to Bali will be able to generate 25 MW in 2030. The total target of produced electricity is 154.8 MW.

The acceleration of energy transition is in line with Bali's policy direction through "Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali",  the development pattern maintains the sanctity and harmonization of Bali's nature and its contents//VOI

As many as 41 units of red and white electric buses operate to escort the delegates of the G20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali. The environmentally friendly vehicles consist of medium and large sizes of 12 meters.

"Red and white electric buses operate in the Nusa Dua area, Sawangan area, Samabe and the venue area for the G20 Bali Summit," said Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Transportation to RRI.co.id, Saturday (12/11/2022).

The operational schedule, continued Budi Karya, for the electric bus is 11-17 November 2022, from 06.00 WITA to 22.00 WITA.

In addition to the Red and White buses, he continued, electric buses were also imported from various parties, from educational institutions to a number of APM automotive manufacturers. "The electric buses come from the University of Indonesia and a number of domestic automotive manufacturers.

He emphasized that the total number of electric buses operating to serve the mobility of the G20 Summit was 41 units, consisting of medium and large buses.

"The provision of electric vehicles at the G20 event is proof of Indonesia's commitment to realizing the energy transition from fossil fuels to new, renewable energy that is more environmentally friendly," explained the Minister of Transportation.

"In addition, as a joint effort of countries in the world to overcome the energy crisis and deal with climate change," continued Budi Karya.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, checked the red and white electric bus transportation facilities. This is ahead of the holding of the G20 Presidency Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Budi Karya said the red and white electric buses were used as a shuttle to serve the delegates and participants of the G20 Summit.

He wants to ensure the operation of the domestically made electric bus can run well. "I tried an electric bus made by the nation's children, the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, INKA and a number of universities in Indonesia," he told RRI.co.id, Saturday (12/11/2022). G20 member countries are reminded to apply the principle of equality in funding the Covid-19 pandemic. This was conveyed by the C20 Coordinator for Vaccine Access and Global Health, Agung Prakoso, Sunday (13/11/2022).

According to him, so far civil society groups have never been actively involved in various discussions about pandemic funding.

"On the other hand, private foundations are given wide space," said Agung, in a press statement.

Furthermore, he revealed that the global funding program was formed because of the problem of inequality in financing the pandemic.

"This should be overcome by providing affordable pandemic needs for low-income countries," said Agung.

The pandemic funding was inaugurated by the Minister of Health and Minister of Finance of the G20 countries at a meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali, Sunday (13/11).

The program is expected to raise $10.5 billion to be used as money for the next pandemic preparedness.

Agung said his party would continue to push for pandemic funding to place equal representatives of civil society on the decision-making board.
