Indonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla says that Asian Games 2018 is to complete June 2018.

Indonesia Vice President, M.Jusuf Kalla confirms that all preparations for Asian Games 2018 will be completed on June, including the infrastructure, the event organizing, and the achievement. VP Jusuf Kalla after attending a coordinating meeting at the office of Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee in Jakarta on last Monday said that several venues in Palembang, South Sumatera have been ready to be used, adding that all preparations for Asian Games 2018 is getting more ready after the organizing of Asian Games test event on 8-15 February 2018. He hopes that the target set by Indonesian contingent to be on the top 10 Asia will be achieved. The coordinating meeting for preparation of Asian Games 2018 also discussed about traffic engineering that will be applied in August 2018 in order to make all athletes arrive on time from Wisma Athlete Kemayoran to Gelora Bung Karno main stadium within 34 minutes.

Indonesian Wushu Team Seized Three Gold Medals in Russia.

Indonesian Wushu Team succeeded to seize three gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze in Sanda number at Moscow Wushu Star championship in Moscow, Russia on 16-20 February 2018. Manager of Indonesian team, Novita in press conference of the grand committee of Indonesian Wushu in Jakarta on last Tuesday, as quoted by Antara, said that it was a positive result because all the opponents from China and India made this championship as Asian Games test event. Three gold medalists of Sanda number in Russia are Rosalina Simanjuntak at women 48 Kilograms, Selviah Pertiwi at women 52 kilograms, and Yusuf Widianto at men 56 Kilograms. Meanwhile, two silver medals were presented by Mey Yulianengsih at women 60 Kilograms and Yudi Chayadi at men 65 Kilograms. One bronze medal was seized by Haris Sofyan at men 60 Kilograms. Moscow Wushu Star was followed by several countries from Asia and Europe such as Armenia, Belarusia, Belgia, China, India, Indonesia, Italia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgistan, Lithuania, France, Russia, and Uzbekistan.

Indonesia Seizes Gold Medal at Paragliding World Championship.

Indonesia Paragliding Team seized one gold medal presented by Rika Wijayanti at Paragliding World Championship in Paragliding Accuracy World Cup (PGAWC) held in Tatlisu, Turkey on last Sunday (18-2). Wahyu Yudha -Chairman of Indonesian Paragliding Association concurrently Manager of Indonesian Paragliding team for Turkey in his written statement on last Monday said that the well-taken achievement was the result from National Training Center for Indonesian Paragliding team approaching Asian Games 2018. Paragliding Accuracy World Cup (PGAWC) is an  opening event as well as try-out competition for Indonesian Women Paragliding Team approaching Asian Games 2018. The Cup is the first series of Paragliding Accuracy World Cup (PGAWC) for 2018. In this series, there were 88 athletes from 23 countries. Indonesian only sent 8 women athletes because all men athletes were participating at Paragliding World Cup Cross Country in Bright, Victoria, Australia. PGAWC 2018 consists of 6 series in which the first series was held in Tatlisu, Turkey on 16-18 February 2018. The second series will be held in Kazakhstan on 4-6 May 2018, and the third one held in Malang, Indonesia on 13-15 July 2018, the fourth one held in Canada on 507 October 2018. The fifth held in Nepal on 2-4 November 2018. The last one will be held in Albania on 14-16 December 2018. Indonesian Paragliding team became champion for 5 times in 2010, 2014, 2017, and seized 7 of 8 gold medals of Asian Beach Games 2008, seized 10 of 12 gold medals at SEA Game 2011. Indonesia also seized gold medal at World Category I Cup or Highest category in 2015, held in Puncak, West Java, Indonesia.

Indonesia Targets One Title at All England 2018.

The central committee of All-Indonesian Badminton Association targets one title at All England that will be held in England in March 2018. Indonesia will send 24 athletes both men and women. All England which becomes grade 2 level 2 by BWF World Tour Super 1000 label will be held on 14-18 March in Birmingham. This is one of the focuses of the association on this year. Meanwhile, regarding to the games drawing held on last Tuesday, February 20, 2018, coach of men’s double, Herry Iman Pierngadi said that the drawing was not beneficial for Indonesia because all Indonesian athletes should play against each other. Meanwhile, Head of Sport Achievement Development of the Association, Susy Susanti as quoted by Detik, at national training camp, in Cipayung on last Wednesday said that although all Indonesians would play against each other in the first round, she took positive side and believes that there would be chance to seize at least one medal. Susi also stated that just like at Indonesia Master, Indonesia got chance at four numbers namely men’s double, mix double, women’s double, and men single.  At All England, the oldest international badminton tournament, Indonesia always has chance to seize one title in double number.

Indonesia moves on positive trend at Fed Cup.

Indonesian women tennis team continued positive result in the knock-out round of group D at Fed Cup of Group II, Asia/Oceania zone, held in Isa city, Bahrain from 6-10 February 2018 after in the second phase of knock-out round, on last Wednesday by defeating Pakistani team with score 3-0.

According to the official website of Fed Cup observed by Antara ews Agency in Jakarta on last Wednesday, the Indonesian team succeeded to grab points from women single players namely, Aldila Sutijadi, Beatrice Gumulya, and Ushna Suhail. Meanwhile, the last point was grabbed by double women pairs, Deria Nur Haliza / Jessy Rompies.

By this winning, Indonesian team will be easier to win in Group D for securing one ticket to the final. For the time being, Indonesian women team sits at the first rank of group D from two wins and it is followed by Sri Lanka with one win and one defeat. At the third rank, it’s placed by Pakistan with one win and one defeat.

Men double pairs, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideon succeeded to score hat-trick at India Open 2018. In 2016 and 2017, Kevin/Marcus also succeeded to be the champion of India Open. They defeated world’s first pairs, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (Denmark) with the score 21-14, 21-16.

The title was the second one for Kevin/Marcus in 2018. Last week, they just became the champion at Daihatsu Indonesia Master 2018. By this winning, they succeeded to grab titles from 5 consecutive tournaments namely China Open Super Series Premier 2017, Hong Kong Open Super Series 2017, BWF World Super Series Finals 2017.

Indonesia grabbed two titles from India Open 2018. At women’s double, Greysia Polli / Apriyani Rahayu succeeded to defeat second-seed, Jongkolphan Kittiharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai from Thailand with the score 21-18, 21-15. Meanwhile, at mix double, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti were defeated by fifth-seed, Mathias Christiansen/Christinna Pedersen from Denmark with the score 21-14, 21-15

The committee of All-Indonesian Badminton Association viewed that the results gained at India Open 2018 could be capital for Indonesian team to face Asian 2018 Group Championship and the qualification for Thomas-Uber Cup.

At India Open 2018 that has been closed on last Sunday, Indonesia grabbed two titles from men’s and women’s doubles, and one runner-up at mix doubles. It was stated by Head of Development and Achievement of the Association, Susy Susanti in Jakarta on last Monday.

The players who grabbed title at this level 4 tournament are Greysia Poli/Apriyani Rahayu at women’s double, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo at men’s double. The runner-up title was grabbed by Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti at mix doubles after being defeated by Mathias Christiansen/Christinna Pedersen of Denmark with the score 14-21, 15-21.

The Association hoped that the two titles and one runner-up could give spirit to men singles and women singles. Asian 2018 Group Championship will take place at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium, Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia on 6-11 February 2018.

Wrestling sets target at Asian Games.

Indonesian wrestling targets one gold medal at Asian Games 2018 Jakarta-Palembang. The Chairman of All-Indonesian Wrestling Association, Trimedya Panjaitan said in Medan, North Sumatra on last Tuesday that wrestling is targeted to grab one gold medal by the government.

 

Trimedya explained that the target is difficult enough. He views that the most-realistic target for wrestling at Asian Games is just only one bronze. He also gives one-week deadline for Gusti Randa, the manager of Indonesian wrestling team to form a team and working program toward Asian Games, including in mapping one gold medal target.

 

Meanwhile, Gusti Randa said that strong competitors of wrestling are from Middle East countries, namely Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and others. He added that Indonesian wrestling team has prepared six athletes consisting of 4 men and 2 women to compete at Asian Games. He further said that his side has scheduled try out program to East Europe such as Bulgaria and Kirgizstan for 25 days.
