State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has recovered electric power to Balaraja Extra High Voltage substation in Banten Province, and furthermore it will be channeled to Suralaya steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) to gradually recover its operation to reach its capacity of 2800 MW of electricity.
In addition, power supply from Gandul Extra High Voltage substations in Depok, West Java Province, will be channeled to Muara Karang gas and steam power plant (PLTGU) to supply electricity to the Indonesian capital city, Jakarta.
Acting President Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani said here on Sunday that the power supply to Jakarta was expected to recover within three hours.
"We apologize for the inconvenience today, and currently all efforts have been made to recover the Java-Bali power system, especially in the area of West Java, Banten, and Jakarta," Cahyani said.
The company has focused on power supply to PLTGU Muara Karang and PLTGU Priok to recover the system in the capital city.
Previously, PLN has recovered the operation of hydro-generated power plant (PLTA) Saguling and PLTA Cirata which are functioned as power stabilizer, and, at the same time, supply the electricity to PLTU Suralaya through Cibinong, Depok, Gandul, Lengkok, Balaraja and Suralaya extra high voltage substations.
PLTU Suralaya is expected to return to its normal operation within six hours to normalize power system in West Java and Banten.
Blackout that affected thousands of homes and public facilities in West Java, Jakarta, and Banten was caused by several troubles in the extra high voltage 500 kV transmission of Ungaran - Pemalang.
"PLN has taken its best efforts and will have evaluation to prevent recurrence of today's incident," Cahyani said.

The Indonesian Agriculture Ministry, through the second meeting of agriculture deputies (ADM), has invited G20 members to commit and work together to find concrete solutions to the global food disruption.
"I hope this meeting can help solve this urgent global food problem," chairman of the G20 Agriculture Working Group, Kasdi Subagyono, said while opening the second ADM here on Wednesday.
The Agriculture Deputies Meeting is one of the derivatives of the Agriculture Working Group (AWG) of the G20 that focuses on global agricultural development. The meeting is taking place in Yogyakarta from July 27–29, 2022.
Subagyono, who is also serving as the secretary-general of the Agriculture Ministry, urged all members to agree on a draft communiqué regarding the three main priority issues in the agricultural sector, which has been prepared based on inputs from all parties and will be submitted by the Minister of Agriculture at the G20 Agriculture Ministerial Meeting at the end of September 2022 in Bali.
"We will focus on finalizing the communiqué draft of the Agriculture Minister with more detail. The communiqué draft will become an important material to be conveyed by the Minister of Agriculture," he said.
The ADM is themed “Balancing Food Production and Trade to Fulfill Food for All,” to reflect the G20's commitment to ensuring sufficient food supply for all, he added.
The effort will be carried out by ensuring a balance between guaranteed food supply from a sustainable food agriculture system, food commodity trade, and smooth cross-border agriculture.
"In this meeting, we gave one view related to food that there should be no boundaries between countries. It must be open, transparent, and accessible to all parties, especially G20 members," Subagyono informed.
He also lauded the active contribution of G20 member countries, invited countries, regional, and international organizations in various initiatives within the framework of the G20 AWG that have been carried out previously.
The initiatives include the Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) from July 5–7, in Bali, which discussed five priority global agricultural issues proposed by Indonesia, namely food security policies after the COVID-19 pandemic, climate-resilient agriculture, food loss and waste, agriculture, and digital tracing.
"In these extraordinary circumstances, we need to encourage stronger collaboration and cooperation to ensure no country is left behind," Subagyono remarked. (antaranews)

"I hope in the second session of the (G20) agriculture deputies meeting, the delegates can discuss and agree on a G20 commitment to supporting global food resilience," he said in a virtual address at the opening of the second Agriculture Deputies Meeting (ADM) here.
In addition, he appealed to all delegates to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), as reflected in the G20 agriculture ministers' communiqué.
Through the G20 forum, he called for solidarity among all G20 members to recover together and recover stronger to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current multidimensional crisis, in accordance with the theme of the Indonesian G20 Presidency — “Recover Together, Recover Stronger.”
He expressed the hope that the G20 ADM delegates will discuss the G20 Agriculture Working Group’s (AWG’s) concrete deliverables to assist least developed countries and developing countries develop food resilience.
He praised all G20 agriculture deputies, invitee countries, and regional and international organizations for their participation in the second ADM and support for the Indonesian G20 Presidency.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto invited Japan to invest in the health and food sectors during his meeting with Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Nobumitsu Hayashi.
"The health sector has developed health services in the Special Economic Zone of Sanur Bali. In the Special Economic Zone, it is allowed to conduct clinical-trial research and allow foreign doctors to practice," Coordinating Minister Airlangga noted in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In line with the global crises, including in the field of food and fertilizer, he also invited JBIC to finance it.
Governor Hayashi responded by strongly supporting investment in food and fertilizers for which the demand increases in line with the population growth.
However, this food and fertilizer requires a good supply chain. JBIC will strongly support new investments in food and fertilizer, Hayashi emphasized.
The minister also said that JBIC played a major role in Indonesia's economic development as a source of funding and advisor for various infrastructure projects.
JBIC annually conducted a survey of Japanese manufacturing companies doing business outside of Japan (Survey on Overseas Business Operations by Japanese Manufacturing Companies). However, in the 2021 survey results, from the "Promising Countries for Overseas Business," Indonesia was still ranked sixth or below Vietnam and Thailand.
Hence, Hartarto said, Indonesia was keen to be higher than Vietnam and Thailand.
This is the main reason why I meet with JBIC in Tokyo, he said.
JBIC has a forte, including financing in the energy sector.
Coordinating Minister Hartarto is keen that the JBIC become involved in several major infrastructure projects, such as the Tanjung Jati-B power plant, Jawa 1, and the Sarulla and Muara Laboh geothermal plants, as well as the Tangguh LNG project.
"These projects provide a much-needed source of energy for Indonesia's economic development," Hartarto affirmed.
In addition, the meeting discussed the Masela Project that would become increasingly strategic, especially after the Ukraine and Russia wars and due to the soaring gas demand of the G7 countries.
Gas is very important, as it can be used as raw material for ammonia, fertilizer.
Gas can also be used to build methanol, which is one of the blends for biofuels. The investment value of this project reaches US$19.85 billion.
However, the project has challenges ahead in the form of acceleration of energy transition, decarbonization requirements, and changes in the upstream oil and gas industry, so it needs to be evaluated and re-identified regarding the scope of the project.
In addition to discussing energy, the meeting discussed development of the automotive sector in Indonesia. In Indonesia, almost 90 percent of the principals are from Japan, and the JBIC has contributed to finance development of the automotive sector.
"We support the investment of Japanese companies in the manufacturing sector, especially in the automotive sector, because with the strong support of the Government of Indonesia so far, Japanese automotive has become much loved in Indonesia. JBIC will further encourage an increase in the value of existing investments," Hayashi affirmed.
On this occasion, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang hoped that there were large manufacturing industrial projects in Indonesia that JBIC could support.
Hayashi also welcomed Minister Agus' expectations and promised to continue to support Japanese companies' investment in the manufacturing industry, especially the automotive sector.
"Indonesia is a very strategic country. Indonesia is JBIC's most important customer, so I am very happy to be able to meet directly with Coordinating Minister Airlangga and Minister Agus. JBIC's support in the energy sector by supporting 11.6 GW of electricity is very helpful for Indonesia's economic development," JBIC Governor Hayashi noted.
"We are very pleased to hear that major projects in Indonesia will be a priority for JBIC. Indonesia, which has the largest population and economic size in the region, is very appropriate to be JBIC's top priority," Coordinating Minister Airlangga remarked. (Antaranews)

The Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources have agreed to renew cooperation in the maritime sector to strengthen the economies of the two countries.
"Hopefully, this cooperation will drive the development of Indonesia's maritime and fisheries sector, where community welfare is improving and ecology is well-maintained,” Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said here on Tuesday.
The cooperation is also aimed at maintaining the sustainability of marine ecosystems based on blue economy principles.
The maritime cooperation is contained in the Implementing Arrangement (IA) document signed circularly on July 26, 2022, by Minister Trenggono in Jakarta and China's Minister of Natural Resources Wang Guanghua in Beijing.
The cooperation covers joint technical cooperation in relevant areas in the maritime sector, integrated coastal management, mitigation, and adaptation in coasts and small islands, blue economy development, as well as human resources capacity.
It also covers sharing information and knowledge on the maritime sector, such as through formal and vocational education, joint symposia, seminars, workshops, training, and exchanges of experts.
The signing of the IA document between the ministries has launched a new chapter of maritime cooperation between the two countries after an earlier agreement expired in 2016.

Forest and land fires (karhutla) were the most common disasters in the week from July 18 to July 24, 2022, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) informed on Monday.
Acting head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center of the BNPB, Abdul Muhari, said that in general, forest and land fires were the most common disasters in the week, with 18 incidents reported overall.
"It means that even though there is a rainy season in some areas, some other parts of Indonesia are starting to experience drought. So, the intensity and frequency of forest fires has started to increase," he informed during an online disaster briefing in Jakarta on Monday.
Concerned over the forest and land fires, the BNPB, and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), under the coordination of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, held a joint coordination meeting on preventing and mitigating forest fires, Muhari said.
According to BNPB data, until this week, there has been a shift in disasters from flooding or wet hydrometeorological disasters that used to dominate to dry hydrometeorological disasters, especially forest fires.
"In the past week, some 53.8 hectares of land have been burned," he informed.
During the period, Indonesia recorded dry hydrometeorological disasters along with wet hydrometeorological disasters, which submerged 118 houses and forced 2,430 people to relocate. In addition, flooding also caused heavy damage to four houses.
In the one week from July 18 to 24, at least 39 disasters were recorded in the country, Muhari said.
In Sumatra and Kalimantan, the number of floods began to decrease this week, but there was an increase in the incidence of forest fires, he informed.
Right now, the BNPB is focusing on handling wet and dry hydrometeorological disasters, he added. (antaranews)

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called for strict law enforcement against perpetrators of violence against children, including sexual abuse and physical and verbal forms of violence.
"I guess strict law enforcement, is the responsibility of all of us to prevent it from recurring," the president stated after chairing an event to commemorate National Children's Day at the Bogor Botanical Garden, West Java Province, on Saturday.
Those committing violence against children must be legally processed in line with the existing regulations to prevent other cases of violence against children in whatever form, he stressed.
"I guess all of them, whomsoever they are, should be processed. There should be no verbal violence, no bullying, no physical violence, no sexual violence. All of those acts are not allowed according to the regulations. And it has punishment (consequences)," he stated.
On the occasion of National Children's Day commemorated every July 23, President Jokowi reminded adults to not have overly high aspirations of children.
Children should be allowed to be active and creative in their world, he stated.
"I like to see children being happy with various (forms of) creativity by showcasing their activities. I think that is actually the world of children. Do not force children to follow the wishes of adults too much, as children are children. Their world is the world of children," he remarked. (Antaranews)
