The Indonesian Embassy in Beirut has acknowledged its continued support for trade cooperation improvement between Indonesia and Lebanon. Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon Hajriyanto Y Thohari gave the Primaduta Award to Lebanese businessman and importer, George R Fattouh. The award was given for his service in helping market Indonesian products in Paris from the Middle East. The award was given at a ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, Thursday (11/1) Fatough, is the owner of George R. Fattouh S.A.L, a business that has been importing Indonesian products since the 1980s. It has a range of products, including: palm oil and its derivatives, oil and fats (including cocoa butter substitute, fat spread, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, and lauric confectionery fats), cardboard, stationary, and school equipment. Some Indonesian products are now even available at famous retail networks, such as Spinney’s and Carrefour. In 2022, the value imported by George R. Fattough S.A.L of Indonesian products, was 981.3 million USD. This was a 149.5 million USD increase when compared to 2021. Fattouh said Indonesian products are known for their quality and are in high demand in Lebanese markets. However, he said, the challenge now is increasing freight costs due to security challenges in the region.

Listeners, a number of delicious dishes were served to the guests of Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta, at the wedding reception of the youngest son of K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, namely B.P.H. Kusumo Kuntonugroho with Laily Annisa Kusumastuti which was held on January 10, 2024.Head of the Customs and Accommodation Division, Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman, KRT Radyo Wisroyo said that the menu served to guests was quite varied. These menus are typical menus prepared by Pakualaman Pura, Indonesian menus and western food menus were also available. All invited guests including VIP and VVIP guests got the same menu. The first menu served to welcome guests, namely two types of welcome drink, namely lime lemongrass and ginger drink with lime. The welcome drink was given when guests sat down and watched the Bedhaya Sidamukti and Bedhaya Kakung Indrawidagda dance performances. Next, they gotsnacks for appetizer such as croquettes and other light snacks. There is a snack that is considered quite special and rare called Garulina. Garulina was the opening snack at the Pahargyan Dhaup Ageng Pakualaman lunch on the first day. Garulina has been around since the era before Indonesian independence. Garulina is actually not a typical Central Javanese food. It looks like the Lapis Legit layered cake, but there is something different, because there is a special layer like vla which is made from fresh milk, eggs and sugar. To get this sweet snack, Pakulaman Temple has to place a special order from the third generation of makers who have been pioneering since the 1950s. In Jogja, Garulina is very difficult to find and is considered rare because it is not sold every day.

Delegation of the Danish Embassy in Indonesia visited campus of Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) on Friday (4/11) to explore cooperation, especially in the maritime sector. Rector of ITS, Mochamad Ashari welcomed Danish Ambassador to Indonesia, Lars Bo Larsen and his staff. Through the initial presentation, Ambassador Lars Bo Larsen expressed his interest in knowing the forms of cooperation opportunities that can be built with ITS later. Rector Ashari introduced the ITS campus and ITS Science Technopark to the Danish Embassy delegation. Therefore, the visit of the Danish delegation was continued to the ITS National Ship Design and Engineering Center Building.
Indonesian Embassy in Oslo welcomes the achievement of educational cooperation involving Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Agder University in Kristiansand City, Norway, and the ASEAN University Network. Through this collaboration, a postgraduate study program 'MBA in Sustainability Management' will be opened and it will start in August 2021. Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Iceland, Todung Mulya Lubis revealed that Gadjah Mada University and Agder University have a long history of cooperating in various projects since 1992. Most of these projects are funded by the Norwegian government. Agder University has officially released information regarding the opening of the MBA in Sustainability Management study program. The education program, which is fully funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will seek 30 candidates for each batch. 20 of them must come from countries in the ASEAN region.

Indonesian Ambassador to Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Uganda as well as Indonesian Permanent Representative for United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN-Habitat, Mohamad Hery Saripudin has handed over letter of credentials to Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi recently.
During the submission, Ambassador Hery extended the warm regards of Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his hope on increasing both countries' bilateral cooperation. Ambassador Hery as quoted in a written statement of Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi on Friday said that President Joko Widodo invited President Uhuru Kenyatta to visit Indonesia and to open Kenyan embassy in Jakarta. Hery also congratulated Kenya as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council 2021-2022.
On the same occasion, Ambassador Hery also conveyed his commitment to enhance Indonesia-Kenya relations and cooperation, especially in economy. Tight cooperation with Kenya in promotion trade, investment, and tourism is done to support Kenya's Big Four Agenda. The four big agenda of Kenyan government are food security, affordable housing, people's health, and manufacturing.
Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta enthusiastically welcomed Indonesia's intention to improve cooperation. He also instructed Kenyan Foreign Affairs Minister, Raychelle Omamo and the team to immediately realize the bilateral relations and cooperation increase initiatives, including the opening of Kenyan embassy in Jakarta.

Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Namibia, Wisnu Edi Pratignyo handed over credential letters to President of the Republic of Namibia, Hage Gottfried Geingob on Friday (27/11). According to the official statement of the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek, a state ceremony was held at the State House of Namibia and it was also witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister / Minister of Foreign Affairs of Namibia, Netumbo-Nandi Ndaitwah. Ambassador Wisnu Edi Pratignyo at the event was accompanied by Protocol and Consular Function Official of the Indonesian Embassy Windhoek, Ahmad Mulia Karnida. During a tête-á-tête meeting with President Geingob, Ambassador Wisnu conveyed warm greetings from President Joko Widodo to President Geingob. He also conveyed Indonesia’s readiness to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries to a higher level in many fields and to follow up on the results of President Geingob's visit to Indonesia in 2018.
On that occasion, President Geingob expressed his gratitude and high appreciation for the friendship, support and role of Indonesia so far as an important Namibian partner. President Geingob also affirmed the importance for Indonesia and Namibia to continuously support each other and strengthen bilateral cooperation in all sectors which provide benefit for both countries. Besides the Indonesian Ambassador, on the same day, there were seven ambassadors from other countries who handed over their letters of credential to President Geingob, namely ambassadors of French, Iran and several non-resident ambassadors such as Palestine, Niger, Sweden, Croatia and Rwanda.
The ceremony was carried out solemnly, orderly and smoothly by implementing the health protocols to prevent transmission of the Covid-19. Ambassador Wisnu Pratignyo is a career diplomat from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs who previously served at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, Prague and Moscow and served as Deputy Head of Representative at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, China and finally as the Consul General at the Indonesian Consulate General in Osaka, Japan.

Various innovations related to the Covid-19 pandemic were carried out by Indonesian students. Hand Sanitizer made from stale rice by students of Airlangga University -Unair is the theme of today’s Miscellany. Rice waste that has become stale can actually be used, which is used as a formula for making hand sanitizers. This was done by five students of the Unair Vocational Faculty. According to Yasmin Auliya Hylmi as the team leader, the bioethanol formula in the stale rice with the addition of basil leaf extract is effective at killing various microbes, such as bacteria and fungi, including the coronavirus.
This hand sanitizer has various advantages over the existing ones. The formula does not contain methanol so that it does not cause toxicity effects. The basic ingredients used are natural so they are easy to obtain and cheap because they are made from waste. In addition, the formula is efficient in use. This content acts not only as an antibacterial, but also as an antiviral and anti-fungal. In fact, the idea of utilizing rice waste arose because a lot of rice was wasted for free from food stalls. In addition, hand washing facilities in the pandemic era are still minimal.
For the extraction of basil leaves, according to Yasmin, it is carried out by using a maceration method. Maceration is the process of immersing a sample using organic solvents at room temperature. This hand sanitizer is called ‘Nasi Wangi Gel’. Even though it is made from stale rice, of course this formula has a fresh smell and has been proven to be effective at eliminating microbes.

On November 25, Indonesian embassy in Pretoria, South Afrika conducted batik diplomacy by organizing a competition pilot project to make women's clothing from batik and South African traditional fabric, Seshweshwe. The competition which invited Vocational High School of North Pretoria (Tshwane North TVET College) took a theme “The Beauty of Batik and Seshewshwe : A collaboration of creativity in South African Bride Fashion Design”.
A series of competition processes have been held since September 2020 in commemoration of South African Heritage Day on September 24, 2020 and Batik Day in Indonesia which falls on October 2, 2020. In a relatively short time, eight students from Tshwane North TVET College successfully completed their designs in the form of a South African wedding dress which is a combination of batik and Seshweshwe cloth, which was exhibited before the jury in two stages. The first stage on November 19th, 2020 was carried out by a South African jury and on November 25th, 2020 by an Indonesian jury chaired by Umi Salman Al Farisi, wife of the Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa. The judging process took place at the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria. Appearing as the first winner was Petronella Makgeta in a batik dress with Rangrang pattern and as the second winner was Minicent Rasekgwalo who wore Betawi batik.
Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa, Salman Al Farisi in his speech said that students in this activity were not just competing. They dare to combine two cultures that have grown up for centuries in Indonesia and South Africa. Ambassador Salman explained that the wedding dress, which is a combination of batik and Seshweshwe, which is a traditional South African cloth, contains a message of harmony between the two nations that support each other and work together.

Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun met Deputy Governor of Hainan, Mao Chaofeng to discuss investment opportunities.
Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun stated in Beijing, Monday (30/11) that during the meeting, Deputy Governor Mao Chaofeng invited Indonesian businessmen to come to Hainan to take advantage of various trade and investment facilities. He also agreed to take advantage of the momentum of the signing the Regional Economic Comprehensive Partnership (RCEP) in a bid to strengthen the economic partnership between ASEAN and China. Moreover, Hainan has opened itself for foreign investment since April 13 2018.
Ambassador Djauhari and the Indonesian Consul General in Guangzhou, Gustanto had visited the Global Trade Hub and the Hainan Resort Software, two companies from Hainan that have started a business in Indonesia. They also visited the cultural tourism destination of Kampung Bali in Xinlong, Wanning City, which was built in 2003. Based on historical records, about 2,000 people of Chinese descent in Indonesia returned to Xinlong as a result of the political situation in Indonesia in the 1960s. Then, they worked in many farms around Haikou, Hainan Province. Although their children and grandchildren in Xinlong do not communicate anymore in Indonesian language, they still conserve Indonesian art, culture and Indonesian typical culinary.

Indonesian Ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Ibnu Hadi received the Medal for Peace and Friendship among Nations from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO). The award was given directly by Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organization, Nguyen Phuong Nga, at the VUFO office in Hanoi, Tuesday afternoon (24/11). In his remarks, Nguyen Phuong Nga said that this award was given for the active and tireless contribution of Ambassador Ibnu Hadi to promote cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia, including in building and fostering friendly relations among the people of the two countries. Nguyen Phuong Nga also remarked that he was impressed by the various activities that were carried out by Ambassador Ibnu Hadi and the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi to promote friendship of both nations. VUFO is a friendly organization which gets the mandate by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam with the mission of developing people-to-people diplomacy and promoting peace, solidarity, friendship and cooperation among communities. The Medal for Peace and Friendship among Nations is the highest award given by VUFO to individuals who actively contribute to strengthening good bilateral cooperation and relations with Vietnam.
IPB University officially collaborates with Polissia National University, Ukraine. This cooperation was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. Rector of IPB University, Arif Satria, in a press release on Thursday (26/11), welcomed this cooperation. According to Rector Arif, the collaboration with various universities in the world is very important. The activities that can be carried out between the two parties through this collaboration are staff and student exchanges, conducting seminars and summer courses, and joint international research. This collaboration between IPB and PNU is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kiev and involves the IPB University International Program Directorate intensively.

Indonesian language becomes the second study program of foreign language at Hefei University
Indonesian language becomes the second study program of foreign language after English at Hefei University of Technology (HUT), Hefei City, Anhui Province, China. Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Yaya Sutarya stated that Indonesian language is selected by the rectorate of the university after conducting several studies. At the first batch of graduation, there are 40 university students from the study program at the university. Moreover, he also said that his side would help Hefei University of Technology (HUT) get partners from several universities in Indonesia.
The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing will also provide curriculum and modules as well as guidance so that it is not left far behind with the 17 other universities in China that previously opened study programs of Indonesian language. Hefei University of Technology (HUT) is one of the best universities in China with a background in scientific disciplines and technology. It is the same as several other universities in China, the Indonesian language study program at Hefei University of Technology is for the undergraduate level.

The lecturer team from the Department of Visual Communication Design (DKV) Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) succeeded in creating a card game with the theme of Covid-19 prevention called ‘Palagan’. The name Palagan in this game means battle in Sanskrit. This name was chosen because it likens the ongoing condition to a battle against something that was never known before, namely the Corona virus. The game was inspired by a similar card game, namely Phil Walker-Harding's "Sushi Go Party" which was released in 2016. Palagan has 79 cards of various types, such as event cards, sports cards, protection cards, protocol cards, balanced nutrition cards, kindness cards, and danger cards. In all of these cards, there is a description in the form of education on the prevention of Covid-19 transmission according to the type of activity.
Palagan involves two to five players and has duration of approximately 30 minutes. The game begins with separating the event card from the other cards and placing it face down in the middle of the area. Afterwards, one of the players can distribute eight cards to each of the other players. Then, one of the players can open one face-up event card. After that all players choose one of the cards they have and place it in front of them. Next, players give all unselected cards to each other in a clockwise direction.
Apart from producing game cards, Palagan can be downloaded for free via the Google Playstore. This application can be useful for clarifying the brief description on the card. It is hoped that in the future, the application will not only be able to issue a description but also be able to play the game digitally. Currently, there are more than 800 first printed Palagan card games ready to be donated to the public. Deputy Governor of East Java Province, Emil Elestianto Dardak, who was also present at the release event, welcomed this game as a learning medium for the community.

The Indonesian Consulate General in Mumbai presents a virtual ballet of Mahabharata
The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Mumbai, India presented a virtual performance of Mahabharata Ballet that was able to be accessed by the people of Indonesia, India and all over the world by the Zoom and Youtube platform on Saturday night 21/11) at 17.30 Indian local time. The ballet entitled "Lembayung Kurusetra" or "Mahabharata Ballet" was presented directly by Bungan Dedari Karawitan Studio artists from the Ardha Chandra Open Theater, Taman Budaya, Denpasar, Bali.
Consul General of Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai, Agus P. Saptono, in a press statement in Jakarta on Saturday stated that the current condition of the Covid-19 pandemic has not enabled the Indonesian Consulate to bring an art team to perform live in Mumbai. However, the virtual performance was performed again in a bid to promote tourism potential and the wealth of Indonesian arts and culture. The performance was held to continue the success of the previous similar performance, "Ramayana Ballet" held virtually on September 5, with artists performing directly from the Prambanan Temple area, Jogjakarta. Consul General Agus P. Saptono affirmed that this Mahabharata Ballet is expected to open up public insights about the closeness of the relationship between Indonesia and India, particularly from the people-to-people contact, which is reflected in the similarities of several parts of cultural arts owned by both countries.
