Indonesian Medical Support Team Arrives in Pakistan

Indonesia again supports Pakistan's flood emergency management. The Indonesian medical team and the third additional humanitarian logistics have landed in Karachi, Pakistan, Friday (7/10/2022).

The head of the Indonesian delegation, Zahermann Muabezi, said that the Indonesian Medical Team was welcomed by the Indonesian Consul General, Karachi, June Kuncoro Hadiningrat. He is a representative of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) for Islamabad.

"A team of 29 personnel with different competencies. Thursday is ready to help health services for Pakistanis who are in refugee posts," Zahermann said in a written statement from BNPB quoted on Saturday (8/10/2022).

Zaherman said that the humanitarian work carried out by the Indonesian Medical Team had been coordinated with the Ministry of Health. "And Pakistan's National Disaster Management Agency," he said.

The BNPB team was assisted by the Indonesian Embassy and the Indonesian Consulate General, he said, also coordinating with health authorities at the Sindh Province level. In addition, coordination in Malir and Mirpur-khas Districts, Pakistan.

"It is a noble task for us to be able to help Pakistanis who have been affected by the floods, and are still in refugee camps," Zahermann said. These two districts in Sindh, will be a place for medical personnel to provide health services.

They will stay at the refugee post, or move to visit the location of the refugee post. "The sending of a medical team of 29 personnel is a collaborative effort to realize world humanitarian solidarity," said Head of BNPB Lieutenant General Suharyanto when releasing the Indonesian Medical Team to Pakistan, Thursday.

"Especially, the people of Pakistan who have been hit by heavy floods since mid-June 2022," said Suharyanto. The team consists of four personnel from the Ministry of Health, ten TNI personnel, and six Polri.

Then two from Andalas University, and seven from the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC). "These medical personnel have different competencies, such as specialist doctors, nurses, midwives and pharmacists," said Suharyanto. (RRI)
