President Joko Widodo said the International Football Federation (FIFA) would have an office in Indonesia. As previously reported, the Indonesian government is trying to form a Football Transformation Team.

In this case, the President directly cooperates with FIFA to fix national football. The effort followed an incident at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, East Java, on Saturday (1/10/2022) night.

"FIFA together with the government will form the Indonesian Football Transformation Team," said the Head of State in his official statement, Saturday (8/10/2022). "During these processes, FIFA will have an office in Indonesia," he continued.

The president had previously held talks by telephone with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The communication was carried out last Monday (3/10).

The Head of State also explained that the Indonesian government would collaborate with FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). They will jointly carry out five steps to improve Indonesian football with the following details:

1. Establish stadium safety standards for all stadiums in Indonesia;

2. Formulate standard protocols and security procedures carried out by the police based on international security standards;

3. Conducting socialization and discussions with Indonesian football clubs, including supporters' representatives, to get suggestions and input as well as joint commitments;

4. Set a match schedule that takes into account the potential risks that exist;

5. Presenting assistance from experts in their fields. (RRI)
