Habibullah explained that the achievement was driven by the amount of oil and gas exports recorded at US$1.42 billion, an increase of 5.12 percent. Non-oil and gas exports also saw progress, which increased by 14.46 percent with a value of US$20.91 billion.
"An increase in non-oil and gas exports, namely machinery and electronic equipment and parts, are mainly drive the value increase in May exports," said Habibullah as quoted from the BPS press release on Wednesday.
In addition to the increase in the value of exports over the last month, the agency – branded itself in English as "Statistics Indonesia" – also recorded an increase in Indonesia's export value on an annual basis. According to Habibullah, the value of exports in May 2024 increased by 2.86 percent.
The largest non-oil and gas exports in May 2024 go to China, the United States, and India, with the contribution of the three reaching 42.39 percent. Habibullah added that by province of origin, Indonesia's largest exports in January-May 2024 came from West Java, followed by East Kalimantan and East Java. (VOI/Andy Romdoni)
