Bank Indonesia –BI believes the Islamic economy and finance will be a solution to increase the level of financial inclusion in Indonesia, which is still stagnant, as well as a tool to address the impact of slowing global economic growth. During the opening of the 2019 Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/13), Governor of BI, Perry Warjiyo said that Islamic economic and financial activities which involve a lot of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) would reach all levels of society groups in various regions that do not yet have access to financial products and services. Islamic economic and financial activities that empower the MSMEs will increase productivity, so that the domestic economy will be able to deal with the global economic slowdown. This increase in MSME productivity will trigger a more inclusive income distribution. In addition, financing with sharia principles will be more environmentally friendly and sustainable. (Ant-Sg/Ahm)
