Indonesia attended G20 Environment Ministers meeting

Indonesian environment and forestry affairs minister Siti Nurbaya attended the G20 environmental ministry virtual meeting, on Wednesday Sept 16. Head of research, development and innovation ministry of environment and forestry affairs Agus Justianto on virtual media briefing explain, that the G20 ministerial meeting to prepare the issues to support the G20 summit leader that will be held in Saudi Arabia in November 2020.

"The main issues in the G20 Environment Ministers Meeting are the land degradation, habitat loss, coral reef conservation and sea waste. These issues have become global problems, and at the G20 Environment Minister Meeting there are three main documents; G20 Environment Ministers Communique, Global Initiative on Reducing Land Degradation and Enhancing Conservation of Terrestrial Habitats and Global Coral Reef Research and Development Accelerator Platform" Agus said. 

Meanwhile, special staff for minister of environment and forestry affairs for industrial and international trade, Laksmi Dhewanthi, said that the implementation of this initiative will be started in 2021, in line with the launching of the United Nations Decade on ecosystem Restoration. TheG20 minister of environment agreed to support Italy to become G20-2021 Presidency to continue and strengthen priority agenda in environment affairs.
