The Paris Agreement is a United Nations framework for climate change and the countries latest commitment including Indonesia. The Indonesian government signed the Paris Agreement to the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change on April 22, 2016 in New York. The agreement said that Indonesia have to reduce the gas emission to 29 percent by 2030. In a virtual media briefing, Thursday Sep 17, general director of climate change in ministry of environment and forestry affairs Ruandha Agung Sugardiman said that Indonesia will achieve 24 percent gas emission reduction in 2018 from the target of 29 percent in 2030 according to the Paris Agreement.

"In 2018, our position is 24 percent from the target of 29 percent. The changes dynamically every year depends on the condition. For example, in 2019 there were forest fires that were quite high, to make our target of 29 percent go down to 24 percent. In 2020, the forest fire will be quite low, so hopefully the percentage will go up. We will see this dynamic until 2030. If we achieve 29 percent, let us see the next dynamic" Ruanda said.

Ruandha added that the Indonesia government allocated a 300 million USD fund for land rehabilitation and conservation to reduce gas emission in 2030 as written in the Paris Agreement//NK
