Labuan Bajo which is a popular tourism destination in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia was featured at a tourism expo called Belgrade International Tourism Fair which was held in Belgrade, Serbia from February 20 to 23,2020. The Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade in collaboration with the Authority Agency of Labuan Bajo, Flores featured Labuan Bajo at the annual exhibition. It was affirmed by Secretary I overseeing Economic Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade Tri Aryadi to Antara London on Sunday (Feb23). The promotion of Labuan Bajo at the expo helped Serbian people get more information about the tourism potentials in Indonesia besides Bali since most Serbian people and travel agencies are only familiar with Bali. The Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade also disseminated other destinations to the visitors which are part of the Indonesian Super Priority destinations namely Lake Toba, Borobudur Temple, Mandalika, and Likupang. The Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade viewed that the tourism expo is a strategic platform to promote Indonesian tourism destinations//(Ant/Trs.AL)

Japan is keen on importing waste from palm oil such as palm oil shells, empty fruit bunches and pellets from processed empty fruit bunches. The Japanese Government expressed the interest in a seminar on ISO standards in Jakarta on February 10, 2020. It was said by Chairperson of the Indonesian Palm Oil Board (DMSI), Derom Bangun in Medan, Sunday (Feb 23). These three types of materials are classified as by-products or waste from oil palm plantations and factories. Derom explained that the Japanese representatives conveyed the importance of biomass fuel in a bid to boost the electricity production in Japan by producing new and renewable energy. He pointed out that in a presentation attended by a number of participants from various ministries, associations and non-governmental organizations, a senior researcher from Japan, Takanobu Aikawa, explained that the energy mix in Japan would increase the portion of new and renewable energy 3.7 to 4, 6 percent of total electricity production or equivalent to 6 to 7.2 Giga Watts//(Antara/Trs.AL)

Governor of South Sulawesi Nurdin Abdullah hoped that the Indonesia-Japan Student Exchange program namely the SUIJI (Six Universities Indonesia Japan Initiative) can bring about mutual benefits for each country and advance the two countries. It was stated by the Governor when discussing with 24 exchange participants in Makassar on Sunday (Feb23). As quoted by Antara, Nurdin Abdullah when haviny discussion with the exchange participants gave them a lot of motivation and encouragement on how millennial generations must contribute for their countries and nations. Nurdin also hoped that Indonesian students joining the exchange program could learn a lot of things from the Japanese people. He emphasized that the Indonesian students must learn about the teamwork of the Japanese people. The Governor also talked about the differences between Japanese and Indonesian cultures. He took for example the way the Japanese people raise and nurture their children particularly on how the Japanese people encourage their children to achieve their goals//(Ant/Trs.AL)

Five stranded foreign nationals placed under observation in Bengkalis

Five foreign nationals stranded on Bengkalis Island are put under observation in an isolated room at the Bengkalis Regional General Hospital on Sunday(ANTARA)

Bengkalis, Riau - Five foreign nationals stranded along with their high-speed luxury yacht on Tanjung Mayat Beach in Bengkalis District, Riau Province, are being kept under observation in an isolated room at the Bengkalis Regional General Hospital.

The hospital has prepared an isolated room for the five foreign citizens from Thailand and Britain to be kept under observation, Vice Director of the Bengkalis Regional General Hospital Rita Puspa stated on Sunday.

"At around 9:55 p.m. local time, the five foreign nationals were taken to the hospital for medical checkups after we had coordinated with the quick reaction team in charge of handling the coronavirus extraordinary occurrence in Bengkalis District. In general, none of them had contracted the coronavirus infection, but they remain under observation and receive necessary treatment in accordance with the existing operational standards," she remarked.

She noted that the medical workers treating the five foreign nationals at the hospital follow requisite service standards, including wearing goggles, masks, and head covers.

"One of the foreign nationals, who earlier reported sick, had suffered from a stroke nearly a year ago," she revealed.

Chief of the Bengkalis Immigration Intelligence and Action Joni Tunggul noted that all five foreign nationals held complete immigration documents. They intended to sail from Singapore to Thailand via Malaysia.

"After encountering engine trouble, their yacht was swept away by sea currents and got stranded on Bengkalis Island," he added. (ANTARA)
