The Indonesian Embassy in Beirut has acknowledged its continued support for trade cooperation improvement between Indonesia and Lebanon. Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon Hajriyanto Y Thohari gave the Primaduta Award to Lebanese businessman and importer, George R Fattouh. The award was given for his service in helping market Indonesian products in Paris from the Middle East. The award was given at a ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, Thursday (11/1) Fatough, is the owner of George R. Fattouh S.A.L, a business that has been importing Indonesian products since the 1980s. It has a range of products, including: palm oil and its derivatives, oil and fats (including cocoa butter substitute, fat spread, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, and lauric confectionery fats), cardboard, stationary, and school equipment. Some Indonesian products are now even available at famous retail networks, such as Spinney’s and Carrefour. In 2022, the value imported by George R. Fattough S.A.L of Indonesian products, was 981.3 million USD. This was a 149.5 million USD increase when compared to 2021. Fattouh said Indonesian products are known for their quality and are in high demand in Lebanese markets. However, he said, the challenge now is increasing freight costs due to security challenges in the region.

These menus are typical menus prepared by Pakualaman Pura, Indonesian menus and western food menus were also available. All invited guests including VIP and VVIP guests got the same menu. The first menu served to welcome guests, namely two types of welcome drink, namely lime lemongrass and ginger drink with lime. The welcome drink was given when guests sat down and watched the Bedhaya Sidamukti and Bedhaya Kakung Indrawidagda dance performances. Next, they gotsnacks for appetizer such as croquettes and other light snacks. There is a snack that is considered quite special and rare called Garulina. Garulina was the opening snack at the Pahargyan Dhaup Ageng Pakualaman lunch on the first day. Garulina has been around since the era before Indonesian independence. Garulina is actually not a typical Central Javanese food. It looks like the Lapis Legit layered cake, but there is something different, because there is a special layer like vla which is made from fresh milk, eggs and sugar. To get this sweet snack, Pakulaman Temple has to place a special order from the third generation of makers who have been pioneering since the 1950s. In Jogja, Garulina is very difficult to find and is considered rare because it is not sold every day.

Indonesian Embassy in Canberra Discusses Increasing Educational Cooperation with Australia

The Indonesian Embassy in Canberra received the visit of Education and Research Attaché of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Han Xiao Zhang to discuss the potential for increased cooperation in the education sector and to introduce a program of Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka which means Independent Learning-Independent Campus.
Deputy Ambassador of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, Tuesday (16/11), Mohammad Syarif Alatas said that the relationship of Indonesia and Australia in the education sector has been well established. He hopes that the continuation of cooperation in the field of education will bring about more exchanges of knowledge and technology for the progress of both countries.
According to Syarif, currently, there are around 13.000 Indonesian students studying in Australia. However, 3.950 of them are still unable to enter the country due to the closure of Australia's borders amid the Covid-19 pandemic. He also expressed his hope that in the future, Australia could establish vocational schools in Indonesia to improve the quality of skilled workers in Indonesia.
On that occasion, Han Xiao Zhang expressed his interest in cooperation in the field of education with Indonesia. He stated that his country would continue to facilitate the education sector for Indonesian students.
At the meeting, the Indonesian Cultural and Educational Attache in Canberra, Mukhamad Najib also promotes the program of Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka to the delegation of Education and Research Attache at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
The universities in Australia selected by the Indonesian Government as the destination for the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards or the international mobility program for Indonesian students in 2022 are Australian National University and Melbourne University.

To Solve Oil and Gas Waste, Indonesian Student Represents Asia Pacific in World Class

Hazardous and Toxic waste or B3 is an environmental problem that is the focus of countries in the world, including Indonesia. From 2015 to 2019, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) recorded a significant increase in land contaminated with hazardous and toxic waste or B3. Waste cannot be separated from industrial activities; one of them is upstream oil and gas activities. In a 2015-article in the Journal of Petroleum and Environment Biotechnology, it was stated that at the oil production rate of 860 thousand barrels per day, there is an oil sludge waste of around 51 thousand cubic meters per year.
Athallah Naufal, a student of the Petroleum Engineering Study Program at Pertamina University found an effective way to treat oil sludge waste. His innovation is the manufacture of bio-surfactants from waste cooking oil. His waste treatment innovation attracted the attention of the jury and managed to win 1st place at the prestigious Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Asia Pacific Regional Student Paper Contest. As a result, he will present the Asia-Pacific Region to compete at the SPE International Conference in Houston, October 2022.
The idea for processing oil sludge waste, According to Athallah, was obtained from observations made by several oil and gas companies. Oil sludge waste treatment is mostly done with the help of 3rd parties. The company must accommodate the waste in the drilling area until it reaches a certain volume, then it can be handed over to the waste processor. Having been delayed for four years, the Oldest Art Exhibition in Indonesia, the 2021 Jakarta Biennale is held again. This year, the event is bigger with a hybrid format by cooperating with around 70 individual artists and collaborators. With this theme, the Jakarta Biennale is expected to strengthen solidarity across borders, genders, and across history for mutual progress towards a better future. Artistic Director of the Jakarta Biennale, Dolorosa Sinaga said that this event is held at the first location which was held 47 years ago. Jakarta Biennale 1974 was the first biennale held at the STOVIA Building or the National Awakening Museum. In this building, this event is held again to use the historical value of the STOVIA building as a revival which is very closely related to the Jakarta Biennale.
The contemporary art event, which has been held since 1974 in Indonesia, is open from November 21, 2021 to January 21, 2022. This biennial contemporary art event is held at the National Museum, the National Awakening Museum (STOVIA), and public spaces in the Central Jakarta area. Indonesian embassy Tokyo introduces the first wooden Angklung in the world

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo introduced the first wooden Angklung in the world, created by Dhany Irfansyah. This event was held to commemorate World Angklung Day, November 16, 2021. This wooden Angklung is the latest innovation in the art of Angklung culture. Usually, Angklung is made of bamboo.
Dhany Irfansyah created the wooden Angklung by utilizing wood materials that can be easily found in every country. This is certainly a driving force for the spread of Angklung throughout the world. This was stated by Indonesian Ambassador to Japan and the Federated States of Micronesia, Heri Akhmadi in a press release received by ANTARA in Jakarta, on Tuesday (16/11).
The launch of the wooden Angklung was carried out at the ambassador's residence in Tokyo by Ambassador Heri Akhmadi, who was accompanied by Coordinator of the Social and Cultural Information Function, Meinarti Fauzie. According to Ambassador Heri Akhmadi, wood is an alternative material for making Angklung other than bamboo. The wooden Angklung is also promoted directly on the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo's Instagram account.
On that occasion, Dhany Irfansyah appreciated the support from the Indonesian Embassy for his work. He also said that this wooden Angklung was created solely to make it easier for other countries to make Angklung from wood. Therefore, the Angklung musical instrument can spread throughout the world. Previously, Dhany had tried to make Angklung from Japanese bamboo, but the bamboo was considered unsuitable for making Angklung.
Dhany’s contribution, who is a staff member of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, in the field of music is fairly good. The man who has lived in Japan for 16 years has also created Digital Angklung through a mobile application in 2010. The application was recorded as a record at the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) which was registered by Indosat Ooredoo with Saung Udjo and Masagi Studio on November 20, 2016. MURI at that time noted that there were 3,218 people playing the Angklung Digital application via smartphones based on Android and iOS. The way to play the application is also similar to acoustic Angklung, namely by shaking it.

Indonesian and EgyptianYouths Encouraged To Be A Driving Force For Entrepreneurship

Indonesian and Egyptian youths are encouraged to become entrepreneurial drivers who are needed in efforts to recover the economy post Covid-19 pandemic and strengthen Small Business and Medium Businesses (MSMEs). In the youth business forum with the theme "Entrepreneurship in Civil Society”, Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt, Lutfi Rauf underlined the major role of young entrepreneurs in Indonesia who have gained a lot of success, even when they are still relatively young, that is under 40 years old. In a written statement at the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, Saturday (13/11), Ambassador Lutfi Rauf said that the youths are able to provide space and job opportunities in various sectors by taking advantage of various opportunities, including e-commerce business platforms and other technologies that can adapt, innovate and create with the current situation.
Furthermore, it was explained that the Indonesian diasporas which also consist of students in Egypt play an important role in supporting efforts to promote and penetrate small business products in the Egyptian market. Most of the Indonesian diasporas in Egypt are youths. They not only carry out the mission of completing their studies at various educational institutions in Egypt, but also have the opportunity to expand their business skills, social entrepreneurship and strengthen networks to become successful and helpful entrepreneurs in the future.

The Indonesian government participates in the Travel News Market 2021 & Jalan Sukarno or Sukarno Caddesi in Ankara is inaugurated

The Indonesian government participated in the country's largest tourism exhibition, namely the Travel News Market 2021 in Stockholm. The Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium in collaboration with the European Parliament launched the Indonesia-European Parliamentary Friendship Group (IEPFG) for 2021-2024 period on Tuesday (9/11). According to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, received by Antara in Jakarta on Wednesday 10/11), the launch was attended by members of the European Parliament, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Union Europe (EU) and the Council of Europe, the Mayor of Edegem, the Indonesian Honorary Consul for the Flemish region, Belgium and Luxembourg, as well as staff from members of the European Parliament.
Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and Luxembourg and the European Union, Andri Hadi in his remarks at the launch of the IEPFG emphasized that Indonesia and the EU are important partners in finding solutions to various regional and multilateral problems. The IEPFG is a forum for dialogue and communication between Indonesia and the EU to enhance understanding and seek joint solutions, particularly in many fields related to inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The launch of the IEPFG signifies the importance of parliamentary diplomacy between Indonesia and the EU in ensuring lots of pro-people strategic policies of the government. IEPFG can also enrich and improve the quality of relations between Indonesia and the EU based on the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) since 2014.
Several important values and principles shared between Indonesia and the EU are pluralism, democracy, development, sovereignty, mutual respect, tolerance, equality and non-discrimination. The launch of the IEPFG for the period 2021-2024 was inaugurated with the adoption of the Joint Press Release.

Lecturer at the Islamic University of Indonesia is in the list of 2 percent of Influential Scientists in the World

Indonesian scientists are increasingly competing internationally. One of the lecturers from the Islamic University of Indonesia (UI) Prof. Is Fatimah is included in the list of 2 percent of influential scientists in the world. The ranking of "Top 2 Percent World Ranking Scientists" was published by Stanford University and Elsevier BV in October 2021. Prof. Is Fatimah becomes one of 58 selected Indonesian scientists from various research institutions and universities.
In addition to teaching at the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA UII, Prof. Is Fatimah has long been known as a person who is diligent in researching the field of science she is involved in. She also diligently publishes various research results in internationally reputed scientific journals and registers patents for her findings. Until 2021, Prof. Is Fatimah has won at least 1,304 citations, 14 Scopus h-indexes, and 17 Google Scholar h-indexes. In addition, she is also active in writing, with 9 book titles, 20 research titles, and more than 115 scientific publications. Her research focus is in the fields of materials, nanotechnology, energy, machinery and transportation. There are four national inventor patents registered in her name.
It is not surprising that Prof. Is Fatimah this year managed to maintain the title of world influential scientist that she got last year. Stanford University counts the number of citations to research publications that do not include citations by oneself. As many as 2 percent of the scientists on the list are the names whose work is most cited in the world's scientific journals. There are totally 159,648 scientists whose work has become a favorite reference from other researchers around the world.

Indonesia & Netherlands strengthens cooperation on the capacity of palm oil farmers

The Government of Indonesia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands are strengthening cooperation in the palm oil sector by adapting and mitigating the effects of climate change. The cooperation is stated in the Memorandum of Understanding on Sustainable Palm Oil Production Cooperation, which was signed in New York, the United States of America on September 26, 2019. The signing of the MoU was followed-up with a technical arrangement and the establishment of the Bilateral Economic Commission as a forum for dialogue between the two countries. This was stated by the Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination, at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Musdhalifah Machmud in an official statement received by Antara, Tuesday(9/11). Musdhalifah Machmud said that the dialogue platform of both countries can prove to the international world that cooperation between consuming countries and palm oil producing countries is well-connected.
She further explained that the cooperation is established to support economic development in rural areas with the target of smallholders and communities around oil palm plantations. The method is to ensure the increase in the sustainability of agricultural commodities, including palm oil and protect the ecosystem of Indonesia's natural resources, such as forest and peat. The cooperation is carried out by establishing the National Initiatives for Sustainable and Climate Smart Oil Palm Smallholders (NI-SCOPS). The NI-SCOPS activities are carried out in four provinces in Indonesia with implementing partners, namely the Indonesia Distribution Hub (IDH) for Aceh and North Sumatra and Solidarity for West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.
