The Indonesian Embassy in Beirut has acknowledged its continued support for trade cooperation improvement between Indonesia and Lebanon. Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon Hajriyanto Y Thohari gave the Primaduta Award to Lebanese businessman and importer, George R Fattouh. The award was given for his service in helping market Indonesian products in Paris from the Middle East. The award was given at a ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, Thursday (11/1)  Fatough, is the owner of George R. Fattouh S.A.L, a business that has been importing Indonesian products since the 1980s. It has a range of products, including: palm oil and its derivatives, oil and fats (including cocoa butter substitute, fat spread, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, and lauric confectionery fats), cardboard, stationary, and school equipment. Some Indonesian products are now even available at famous retail networks, such as Spinney’s and Carrefour. In 2022, the value imported by George R. Fattough S.A.L of Indonesian products, was 981.3 million USD. This was a 149.5 million USD increase when compared to 2021. Fattouh said Indonesian products are known for their quality and are in high demand in Lebanese markets. However, he said, the challenge now is increasing freight costs due to security challenges in the region.

Listeners, a number of delicious dishes were served to the guests of Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta, at the wedding reception of the youngest son of K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, namely B.P.H. Kusumo Kuntonugroho with Laily Annisa Kusumastuti which was held on January 10, 2024.Head of the Customs and Accommodation Division, Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman, KRT Radyo Wisroyo said that the menu served to guests was quite varied. These menus are typical menus prepared by Pakualaman Pura, Indonesian menus and western food menus were also available. All invited guests including VIP and VVIP guests got the same menu. The first menu served to welcome guests, namely two types of welcome drink, namely lime lemongrass and ginger drink with lime. The welcome drink was given when guests sat down and watched the Bedhaya Sidamukti and Bedhaya Kakung Indrawidagda dance performances. Next, they gotsnacks for appetizer such as croquettes and other light snacks. There is a snack that is considered quite special and rare called Garulina. Garulina was the opening snack at the Pahargyan Dhaup Ageng Pakualaman lunch on the first day. Garulina has been around since the era before Indonesian independence. Garulina is actually not a typical Central Javanese food. It looks like the Lapis Legit layered cake, but there is something different, because there is a special layer like vla which is made from fresh milk, eggs and sugar. To get this sweet snack, Pakulaman Temple has to place a special order from the third generation of makers who have been pioneering since the 1950s. In Jogja, Garulina is very difficult to find and is considered rare because it is not sold every day.

The national airline Garuda Indonesia received a number of international recognitions at the "Skytrax World Airline Awards 2021" through the consistency of Garuda Indonesia as the best global airline. In this event, Garuda won awards in seven leading categories, namely Top 15 World's Best Airline, Top 4 World's Best Airline Cabin Crew, Top 5 World's Best Airport Service, Top 20 World's Best First Class Airlines, Top 20 World's Best Business Class Airlines, Top 10 World's Best Economy Class Airlines, and Top 6 Best Airline Staff in Asia.


Garuda Indonesia and its subsidiary, Citilink also received a special award by winning the "2021 Covid-19 Airline Excellence Awards". The predicate which is only given to 41 airlines in the world is based on an assessment of the implementation of the best health protocols carried out in all operational service lines of global airlines. The various achievements were previously officially announced through the "Skytrax World Airline Awards" website https://www.worldairlineawards.com on Tuesday (28/9). On the same occasion, Garuda Indonesia also succeeded in establishing its existence as the best airline in Indonesia by winning the titles "Best Airline in Indonesia", "Best Cabin Crew in Indonesia", and "Best Airline Staff in Indonesia".


Skytrax as an international air transportation rating agency from London, England assessed the 2021 Skytrax World Airline Awards based on the results of a survey conducted on global airline passengers
from September 2019 to July 2021. President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra said that this achievement means alot for Garuda Indonesia to always provide the best flight services in times full of challenges. He also explained that this is a matter of pride amid the Covid-19 pandemic that has a significant impact on the aviation industry and Garuda Indonesia can bring the nation's identity to the world stage through this achievement of global recognition.

Another proud achievement was won by Indonesian airlines, Citilink. It has won the title of 5-Star Covid-19 Airline Safety Rating from Skytrax. This achievement places the airlines as the second LCC in the world after Scoot (Singapore Airline Group). In its official release, Wednesday (22/9), Skytrax, which is an independent global aviation rating agency based in the United Kingdom -UK ranked Citilink as one of 15 airlines in the world that managed to get the title. The 5-Star Covid-19 Airline Safety Rating is the highest rating given to airlines for implementing the best health protocols in flight services amid the pandemic situation.

The achievement of this title was based on an audit process carried out by Skytrax in August 2021. The scope of the assessment is all aspects of implementing health protocols, especially in providing the best service amid the Covid-19 pandemic which includes pre-, in- to post-flight stages. According to President Director of Citilink, Juliandra, this predicate is a global acknowledgment of the quality of implementing good health protocols on Citilink flights, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that since the beginning, Citilink has been committed to implementing good health protocols and developing various services in all phases of its flights. Citilink wants to create safe and comfortable flights for all customers in line with its mission to become "The Most Hassle-Free Airline".

Meanwhile, CEO of Skytrax, Edward Plaisted expressed his pleasure to award Citilink with the title of 5-Star Covid-19 Airline Safety Rating, considering all the efforts made by Citilink in providing the highest standards of cleanliness for its passengers. Citilink's management and employees have gone above and beyond industry standards to mitigate the risk of the Covid-19 transmission in order to restore passenger confidence and return to travel by plane. The Skytrax Audit was carried out to ensure that Citilink had perfect procedures by incorporating standard health procedures related to the Covid-19. The procedures are applied both in the pre-flight, and post-flight phases (pre-, in, and post-flight). Broadly speaking, the aspects of the Skytrax Audit assessment carried out are pre-flight which includes the website, automatic check-in process, and boarding management. Then, there  is an in-flight which includes customer & cabin staff PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), cabin staff assistance, disembark management and cabin cleanliness. In addition, there is also post-flight which includes arrival and baggage reclaim.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo fully supports Indonesian local games to compete at the global level. One of them is by increasing the profile and business of the Indonesian game industry through the "Tokyo Game Show" 2021. This Tokyo Game Show event must be well utilized to increase the profile and business of the Indonesian game industry. This was stated by Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, Heri Akhmadi in a written statement received by Antara news agencyon Friday (24/9).

The Tokyo Game Show is the leading video game exhibition in Asia. It takes place from September 30 to October 3 this year. There are 19 Indonesian game developers who will participate in this prestigious event. The Indonesian Embassy in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and the Indonesian Game Association provided briefing to the 19 participants. They held the "Market Sounding and Introduction to Japan's Digital Creative Industries" activity. In his remarks at the virtual debriefing event, Ambassador Heri Akhmadi emphasized that the Indonesian Embassy is fully committed to supporting the development of the Indonesian game industry, including in terms of escorting business deals.

Deputy Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Nia Niscaya also emphasized that she will continue to assist Indonesian game industry players so that they can compete at a global level. Meanwhile, Jin Hashimoto from Creek and River, one of the major Japanese agencies engaged in the creative and digital economy sector, also explained the characteristics of the game industry in Japan. He also pointed out the potential for collaboration with Indonesian developers. Jin Hashimoto added that as a partner of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Creek and River is also committed to facilitating the development of Indonesian talents in the digital economy.

All Indonesian delegates under the auspices of the "Archipelageek by Indonesia" program will have the opportunity to represent Indonesia and display locally made game products in the virtual booth of the Indonesian pavilion. This includes conducting business meetings with buyers from Japan.

Indonesia will exhibit its typical jewelry crafts from several provinces at the Singapore International Jewelry Expo 2021 (SiJE 2021) on 2-5 December 2021. Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo mentioned that Indonesia has many unique jewelry crafts made by talented and creative jewelry designers. The Indonesian Embassy in its press statement on Friday (9/24)  noted that Indonesia has valuable gemstone resources. Indonesia will be a partner country for the first international jewelry exhibition in the "endemic new normal" era in Singapore.

Moreover, Ambassador Suryo Pratomo stated that Indonesia has precious gemstone resources. One of the precious stone resources is Martapura, the capital of Banjar Regency where it shares a border with the capital of  Banjarmasin,  South Kalimantan Province. This city is also famous and often visited by tourists because it is the hub of diamond sales transactions and the main diamond polishing place in Kalimantan and it  provides many precious gemstones souvenirs.

Ambassador Suryo further explained that literally, Martapura is a shiny city  because it is known as a producer of lots of  precious gemstones. Martapura is also a diamond processing center as well as a diamond transaction center in Kalimantan. It is known as one of the regions producing the best quality valuable gemstones in the world.

For lovers of jewelry and accessories, such as necklaces, bracelets, rings and brooches, particularly those made of pure diamonds, gold, silver, and various other gemstones, Martapura is an appropriate place to hunt for these jewelry. Ambassador Suryo in his opening remarks also showcased pearls from Lombok,West Nusa Tenggara. The sea water of Lombok and freshwater shellfish are able to produce large and shiny pearls. Moreover, being combined with gold, silver, and rhodium, the jewelry can boost the price up to tens of millions rupiah.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Shanghai participated in the Shanghai Jiangxin Art Life Carnival and Baoku Third Quarter Exhibition. In the exhibition which takes place from September 22 to October 10, 2021, the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai displays batik. Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia for Shanghai, Denny Wachyudi Kurnia in his remarks at the opening ceremony said that batik has become a symbol of Indonesian people's life from birth to death.

The techniques, symbolism and culture surrounding hand-dyed cotton and silk garments known as Indonesian Batik symbolize the life of Indonesians from beginning to end: when you have a baby, infants using batik slings, even death, will be wrap by batik, surrounding by batik. So from the beginning until the end, batik is in Indonesian life.

Consul General Denny Kurnia also explained that batik also shows the past relationship between Indonesia and China. By participating in this exhibition, the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai hopes that the people of Shanghai will get a glimpse of Indonesian culture. Hopefully, it will encourage them to get to know and visit Indonesia in the future. It’s the first time for the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai to participate in this exhibition through an invitation from the Shanghai Baoku Cultural Center.

The Indonesian Pavilion is ready to present various weekly programs to show Indonesia's best potential at the Expo 2020 Dubai event which will start on October 1, 2021. The Indonesian Pavilion will carry the concept of "Connecting Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." This concept will show the historical journey as well as Indonesia's major role in the international arena. The Indonesian Pavilion is divided into three zones, namely “Yesterday”, “Today”, and “Tomorrow” which describes Indonesia's past, present, and future readiness. The Indonesian Pavilion will present 26 weekly themes and more than 75 business forums.

Batik as the fabric of the pride of the Indonesian people is increasingly recognized abroad. Various batik clothes were exhibited at the Indopop Movement event in the crowd of Times Square New York, United States, in early September 2021. The Indopop Movement is an activity to introduce all things about Indonesia, from culture, music, culinary to fashion. The three batik brands displayed were Coreta Louise, Hengki Kawilarang, and Batik Trusmi.

A designer, concurrently Daily Chairperson of the Indonesian Batik Foundation, Corea Louise said that activity, such as the Indopop Movement is the right platform to showcase batik. Moreover, this event was held in New York's Time Square, which is the center of the world's capital city. Coreta Louise has also introduced Batik from Indonesia to foreign countries, including on the stage of New York Fashion Week: The Shows. In the fashion show, a number of batik models for women's clothing were displayed, ranging from outer to more formal clothing.

The event also featured traditional Javanese and Balinese wedding dresses, as well as the appearance of Dangdut singer, Fitri Carlina. Coreta Louise with the label Cc by Clo released a collection of 8 spring-summer 2022 on the Indopop Movement 9/9 stage. The batik designed by Cc by Clo is inspired by New York City, United States where the style of the New Yorkers who are very stylish and flexible. Actually, Batik has been very popular with the American people. Various batik shows and exhibitions are often held by the Indonesian government, businesspeople and Indonesian Diasporas to promote batik. At the most famous fashion show, New York Fashion Week, Batik is often exhibited almost every year.

Indonesian Ambassador to Sweden, Kamapradipta Isnomo called for Mayor of Gothenburg, Anneli Rhedin to jointly boost the economic relations, particularly between Indonesia and business people in Gothenburg.  He mentioned that  Sweden is an important partner for Indonesia in the Nordic region and both countries still have many opportunities to further increase the value and volume of trade and investment. The Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm in its written statement on Tuesday (21/9) stated that  Ambassador Kamapradipta noted, by applying the  implementation  of the Job Creation Law and an increasingly conducive business environment, Indonesia has opened up opportunities for Swedish companies to establish production and distribution hubs in Indonesia in order to reach domestic, Southeast Asia and Pacific markets.

Ambassador Kamapradipta at the meeting on Monday (20/9), also expressed his congratulation on the 400th anniversary of Gothenburg City. He told the long history of relations between Indonesia and Gothenburg through Swedish East India Company travel, which ever dropped in Batavia since the trading company was formed in 1731. Ambassador Kamapradipta hopes that Indonesia can participate in the city's big celebrations by 2023.

Besides meeting Mayor Anneli Rhedin, the Indonesian Ambassador also met  the CEO of the Gothenburg Business Region, Patrik Andersson to explore opportunities for cooperation in green city development. Recently, Gothenburg  has launched  the green city zone project, including three inter-connecting regions: Lindholmen, downtown of Gothenburg and Forsaker. The project is a trial site for city planning design, infrastructure, and emission-free transportation technology. The Gothenburg Green City Zone is a joint project with the Gothenburg City government with the business and education sectors, including the Research Institutes of Sweden, the Volvo Group and Gothenburg University. To follow up  the results of meeting with business stakeholders in Gothenburg, the Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm will explore sister-city cooperation with cities in Indonesia that have commitments and plans to develop green cities.

Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi called for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes during the virtual meeting of the 65th General Conference of the World Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Monday (20/9).

It is undeniable, according to Minister Retno Marsudi, nuclear weapons can indeed be a terrible weapon. Currently, the world is still not completely free from the threat of nuclear weapons and the nuclear arms race is still going on. But at the same time, nuclear can also be used for purposes that benefit human beings. Thereby, three important aspects must be ensured. They are safety, security, and nuclear safeguards.

Minister Retno Marsudi called for all parties to continue to encourage the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. One of its applications is the use of nuclear technology to develop superior rice varieties. Since 2013, Indonesia, represented by the Food Crop Breeding Research Group (PAIR) in collaboration with the IAEA and the World Food Agency (FAO) has developed 23 new rice varieties. Indonesia's achievements have been appreciated by the international community and won the FAO/IAEA Outstanding Achievement Award twice in 2014 and 2021.

Minister Retno was honored to receive the FAO/IAEA Outstanding Achievement Award. This award is a form of acknowledgment of the socio-economic impact of the collaboration and evidence of nuclear contributions to sustainable development. In addition, nuclear technology can also play a major role in efforts to overcome pandemics, namely to detect new virus variants and prevent future pandemics.

Indonesia is committed to continuing to support the IAEA in increasing the capacity of developing countries' nuclear science and technology, through inclusive technical cooperation, including through South-South Cooperation.

The IAEA's 65th General Conference (GC) takes place from September 20 to 24. The GC is an annual conference at the UN Headquarters in Vienna since 1956, which has been held for IAEA member countries to determine the direction of the IAEA's policy in ensuring the use of nuclear energy and technology solely for peaceful purposes.

There is a different view on Jalan Sudirman, Central Jakarta. On the side of Jalan Sudirman near BNI City Station, a giant shoe monument is installed. Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria said the shoe monument was the result of collaboration with a number of parties; one of which was PT Jakarta Tourisindo (Jaktour). He also said that the monument was built to beautify a corner of Jakarta and introduce local products to the public. He also explained that some big countries in the world have also done the same thing, such as Saudi Arabia, which built a bicycle monument.


The giant shoe monument, which is dominated by white, is placed on an object similar to a blue stage. There were several writings on the giant shoe stage, including "Collaboration for Progress", "a city of collaboration", and "xpresi.sepatucompass.com". There is also a QR code. When scanning,  it contains an open letter to creative industry fighters in Indonesia. The open letter explains that the giant shoe monument in the middle of the capital is a part of the Jakarta Collaboration Festival.


The Acting Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Jakarta Province, Gumilar Ekalaya said that the installation of the shoe monument is displayed at 3 points from 17 to 26 September 2021, namely at BNI City Station, Taman Dukuh Atas, Lapangan Banteng, and Velodrome Square. The construction of this installation is the initiative of creative economy actors. It spent non-budgetary funds of Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government facilitates by providing public spaces that can be utilized by all Jakartans.

Indonesia's excellent products were promoted at one of the largest malls in South Africa, Sandton City for a week on 14 – 20 September 2021. The Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria in its statement received in Jakarta on Saturday (18/9) stated that  the promotion was carried out by the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Johannesburg and supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria.

The ITPC in Johannesburg and the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria exhibited the Indonesian products that have entered the South African market, including instant noodles, biscuits, coconut drinks, medicines, beauty and hair care products, tires and motor vehicle accessories, furniture, and several other excellent products. Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa, Salman Al Farisi mentioned that the aim of holding the promotions in stores was to raise the knowledge of South African people about Indonesian products in South Africa.

The Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria also noted that the promotional activities for Indonesian products received positive response from visitors of the Sandton City mall. Some visitors said that they have actually used Indonesian products for a long time, although they have just realized that these products are made in Indonesia.

In addition to showcasing  products that are already in the South African market, Indonesia also promoted products that have not yet entered the South African market, both from food and beverage products,  handicrafts, coffee, and personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks. Besides, ITPC and the Indonesian Embassy also distributed samples for instant noodle and coffee products.

Meanwhile, Head of ITPC Johannesburg, Anggun Paramita Mahdi explained that ITPC expects to be able to attract potential buyers from the promotion at the store, since there are no physical exhibitions held in South Africa, so that potential buyers can immediately see and try Indonesian products. She hopes that the promotion can increase the trade cooperation between Indonesia and South Africa.
