Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Yohana Yembise and Iran's Vice President of Women and Family Affairs, Y.M. Masoumeh Ebtekar Monday, signed the MoU on Women Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Resilience (30/7). The MoU was the result of a previous meeting between Minister Yohana and Vice President Ebtekar at his second meeting in Mashaad, Iran on 27 April2017 and in Jakarta on May 1, 2018.
Child protection from all forms of violence and harassment including the influence of digital media and others, the involvement of women in politics, economic empowerment for the welfare of women and children through empowerment and the provision of adequate information and communication technology and family empowerment through a number of family resilience programs, is one that is contained in the MoU.
On the occasion, Minister Yohana conveyed the signing of the MoU to be a very important moment to better identify the RI-Iran cooperation primarily related to child protection and women's empowerment in both countries. As well as providing opportunities and challenges for women to participate actively in achieving the millennium development goals, making challenges as opportunities. The Minister also emphasizes the importance of protecting children and the fulfillment of their rights is a joint responsibility protected by law. These efforts can reduce the number of violence and trafficking of children and women as much as possible. The minister was also pleased that the three priorities that he said could be contained in the MoU, the three priorities are first, ending violence against women and children; second, ending the crime of human trafficking and third, ending economic barriers against women.
Meanwhile, Vice President Ebtekar said that the protection of girls is of particular concern to Iran, including through the involvement of girls in every activity and policy and given training / knowledge knowledge early on. With regard to gender equality and women's empowerment, Iran implements President Rouhani's policy of Gender Balance Policy, where 30 percent of the Government will be filled by women, providing future leadership training in every Ministry or Institution.
Both parties agreed to immediately implement the program contained in the MoU. The signing was witnessed by the Ambassador of Indonesia, Mr. Octavino Alimudin and related officials of Iran (Embassy of Tehran).
