PLN Gradually Recovers Electricity Supply (0)
State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has recovered electric power to Balaraja Extra High Voltage substation in Banten Province, and furthermore it will be channeled to Suralaya steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) to gradually recover its operation to reach its capacity of 2800 MW of electricity.
In addition, power supply from Gandul Extra High Voltage substations in Depok, West Java Province, will be channeled to Muara Karang gas and steam power plant (PLTGU) to supply electricity to the Indonesian capital city, Jakarta.
Acting President Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani said here on Sunday that the power supply to Jakarta was expected to recover within three hours.
"We apologize for the inconvenience today, and currently all efforts have been made to recover the Java-Bali power system, especially in the area of West Java, Banten, and Jakarta," Cahyani said.
The company has focused on power supply to PLTGU Muara Karang and PLTGU Priok to recover the system in the capital city.
Previously, PLN has recovered the operation of hydro-generated power plant (PLTA) Saguling and PLTA Cirata which are functioned as power stabilizer, and, at the same time, supply the electricity to PLTU Suralaya through Cibinong, Depok, Gandul, Lengkok, Balaraja and Suralaya extra high voltage substations.
PLTU Suralaya is expected to return to its normal operation within six hours to normalize power system in West Java and Banten.
Blackout that affected thousands of homes and public facilities in West Java, Jakarta, and Banten was caused by several troubles in the extra high voltage 500 kV transmission of Ungaran - Pemalang.
"PLN has taken its best efforts and will have evaluation to prevent recurrence of today's incident," Cahyani said.

Suicide bombing against humanity: Religious Minister

Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas condemned Wednesday’s suicide bombing at Astanaanyar Sectoral Police Station, Bandung city, West Java province, and emphasized that the attack was against humanity.
"We conveyed our deepest condolences for the incident at the Astanaanyar Sectoral Police Station, as it has resulted in many victims, damage, and even fear (among the public). It is clear that the suicide bombing is against humanity," he said here on Wednesday.
He noted that the terror attack killed one policeman and left nine other personnel injured.
In addition, a resident was also injured in the explosion, which occurred during the morning assembly of Astanaanyar Sectoral Police officers.
“The Astanaanyar bombing proves that acts of violence always harm many parties," the minister said.
He lauded the quick response of the National Police chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who went directly to the location of the incident.
The police also identified the perpetrator, who was confirmed to have died at the location.
Based on a fingerprint and facial analysis, the perpetrator was identified as Agus Sujatno, who was said to be affiliated with the terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
"We support the efforts taken by the National Police chief to thoroughly investigate this case and explore the possibility of other perpetrators," Qoumas said.
He further said that he is concerned with the actions of some people and groups who are still using violence to express their different views.
The method is clearly not in line with the teachings of any religion, which always prioritize respect, politeness, and safety of the community, he stressed.
In addition, all religions teach people to promote and carry out dialogue to resolve social problems.
“Hence, we encourage religious leaders to keep building good communication with the community to find the best solution (for issues). Religion must be used as a solution for life (problems), which is not an excuse for committing violence," the minister added. (antaranews)

Indonesia-Vietnam To Increase Target Of Bilateral Trade Value

Indonesia and Vietnam have increased their bilateral trade value target for the next few years to reach US$15 billion or around 234.59 trillion rupiah. Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the value of bilateral trade this year has reached more than 11 billion US dollars.
Ambassador Thong said Indonesia and Vietnam would commemorate 10 years of strategic partnership by holding various interesting activities. Indonesia, New Zealand Explores Cooperation In Guaranteeing Halal Products

The Indonesian government is exploring cooperation in the field of halal product assurance with New Zealand, with the aim of becoming a leader in the global halal industry by 2024. Discussion regarding this collaboration was one of the topics of discussion at the Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi's meeting with New Zealand's Minister of Agriculture Hon Damien O 'Connor in New Zealand.

Indonesia ranks 130th on Human Development Index: BKKBN

Indonesia has ranked 130th out of 199 countries on the Human Development Index (HDI), the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) has said.
"Data from the World Bank shows that Indonesia's HDI is still at number 130 out of 199 countries, as well as our EQ ranking, which ranks 6th in ASEAN," BKKBN head Hasto Wardoyo said at the “2022 National Stunting Forum” in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Indonesia's stunting rate, which has been recorded at 24.4 percent, is a reflection of the low quality of its human resources, he observed. Given the low index score, stunting has become one of the main focuses of the government’s development efforts.
Based on the directions of the President and Vice President, in 2024, Indonesia will need to achieve a stunting rate of 14 percent to boost the quality of human resources and realize the advanced Indonesia goal, he said.
"In the past few years, stunting reduction has never exceeded 2 percent per year. In accordance with the direction of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in 2022, it is hoped that stunting reduction can be optimized to reach 3 percent to achieve the target in 2024," he added.
In carrying out the mandate set in Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021, BKKBN is emphasizing the acceleration of stunting reduction by strengthening synergy and collaboration between relevant ministries/agencies through the National Action Plan or RAN PASTI.
Wardoyo said that several efforts have been made to improve human resources through stunting reduction, including providing “by name by address” data on families at risk of stunting and forming Family Assistance Teams (TPK), which have spread to districts/cities.
"We also provide assistance to all prospective brides before they reach childbearing age and conduct surveillance of special cases of stunting. For difficult cases of stunting, audits are carried out in all districts/cities in Indonesia," he disclosed.
The BKKBN has also begun to mobilize religious leaders to educate people about stunting in their sermons, such as in Yogyakarta province and Brebes, Central Java. The program will be expanded across the region in 2023.
BKKBN has also begun to visit the homes of families at risk of stunting to check their latrines and sanitation, in collaboration with the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry.
Together with the Ministry of Home Affairs, BKKBN is also working to converge the regional budget to handle stunting cases. Meanwhile, next year, the government plans to provide complementary food to the target audience.
In addition, the agency is collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Culture to deploy university students to help make the government's stunting eradication program a success.
Wardoyo lauded all parties who have worked hand in hand to reduce stunting. He said he hopes that this cooperation will not stop even after the stunting rate reaches the target requested by President Joko Widodo.
"In August 2022, we have carried out reconciliation for the district provincial task force, especially in the 12 priority provinces. This is in line with the Vice President's direction," he added.
Earlier, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that Indonesia's HDI in 2022 reached 72.91, an increase of 0.62 points (0.86 percent) compared to the previous year (72.29).
HDI status describes the level of human development achievement during a certain period. An HDI status of ≥ 80 is said to be very high, 70 to 80 is considered high, 60–70 moderate, and low if the figure is less than 60. (Antaranews)

Indonesia, Thailand To Develop ASEAN Standard For MICE

Indonesia has been appointed the leading country along with Thailand for developing the “ASEAN Competence Standard for MICE & Event Professionals” as agreed upon under the ASEAN Mutual Recognition of Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP).
ASEAN MRA-TP's function is to support the mobility of professional manpower in the tourism sector in ASEAN, resources and institutional affairs' deputy at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, Diah Martini Mohamad Paham, said.
"We know that we are currently within AEC (ASEAN Economic Community), wherein there is a collective ASEAN MRA-TP agreement between AMS (ASEAN Member States)," she noted during the “ASEAN MICE Toolboxes National Convention” here on Monday.
"The goal is to create ASEAN member countries' mutual recognition in applying professional manpower competence standards in tourism and mobilize manpower exchange among ASM," she informed.
Indonesia is considered to have the privilege of the early development of work standards in ASEAN through the adoption of domestic work standards, she informed.
However, it needs to catch up in terms of tourism human resources so that it does not become a spectator within its own country.
To this end, collaboration between pentahelix stakeholders is important. There must be a regulatory alignment within the education, vocation, and training worlds, she noted.
The curriculum needs to be prepared so that the human resources that Indonesia produces are ready to enter a work environment that is already one level up, she said.
There should also be a harmonization of the industry world, associations, and practitioners so that everyone is connected and Indonesia is ready to compete in ASEAN's labor market, she added.
In line with the 4 AS work ethic (hard work, smart work, complete work, and sincere work) promoted by the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, Paham said she believes that Indonesian tourism human resources can compete and even enter international markets.
This focus aligns with other work ethic principles such as innovation, adaptation, and collaboration, as well as work strategies that emphasize quality and sustainable tourism and optimize digitalization.
The National Convention's outcomes will be presented at the ASEAN Tourism Professional Monitoring Committee Meeting (ATPMC) in Cambodia on December 6–8, 2022, she informed.
"We certainly expect that the collectively agreed upon documents will not just be documents, but can also be implemented and be beneficial for the industry's need in the future," she said. (Antaranews)

Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have agreed to negotiate an Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA).
"EAEU is a region which has a strong economy and large market potential in north Eurasia, and Indonesia sees EAEU as an important trade partner," Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said in a written statement released in Jakarta on Monday.
Hasan and a member of the EAEU Trade Ministry Council, Andrey Slepnev, officially launched the trade agreement negotiation online.
The trade agreement is part of Indonesia's efforts to expand exports to non-traditional markets, especially to Eurasian countries, including Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The trade agreement was launched with the signing of a “Joint Ministerial Statement on the Launching of Negotiations for the I-EAEU Free Trade Agreement.”
Hasan said the launch of the trade agreement negotiations served as a historical momentum for the two sides to take bilateral relations to a higher level.
The effort is a part of strategies to expand proactively to more markets by tapping opportunities in non-traditional trade partner counties, he added.
The trade agreement covers trade in goods and economic cooperation regulations for facilitating trade, he informed.
"The agreement must play a role as the engine of growth and productivity in addition to creating jobs and promoting welfare," he said.
As per a feasibility analysis conducted by both sides in 2021, trade between Indonesia and EAEU is complementary in nature. The agreement is projected to promote welfare, boost economic growth, and increase Indonesia's exports to EAEU.
Meanwhile, Slepnev said Indonesia is EAEU's strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region.
"Given the many changes faced by countries in the world as a result of technological transformation, it is important to build a strong framework of cooperation to help business players for the sake of people's welfare in EAEU and Indonesia," he added.
EAEU has a population of around 183 million and a per capita income of US$11,249.
Trade between the two sides was recorded at US$3.3 billion in 2021, with Indonesia's exports to EAEU reaching US$1.5 billion and its imports from the region touching US$1.8 billion. (antaranews)

Indonesia, Sri Lanka Discuss Blue Economy Investment

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, held bilateral talks with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Tharaka Balasuriya on Monday to discuss cooperation in maritime security and safety and blue economy investment.
"Indonesia and Sri Lanka need to better increase economic cooperation," Pandjaitan said at the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the Archipelagic and Island State Forum (AID) in the Indonesian resort island of Bali.
The two countries need to make optimal use of bilateral cooperation to open up opportunities to promote the development of their economy, including maritime resource-based economy, he added.
"We warmly welcome and are ready to participate in boosting the two countries' economic growth. The framework of this cooperation will chiefly help Sri Lanka accelerate its economic growth," he said.
He further recalled Indonesia's initiatives to boost cooperation among developing countries through the "emerging economies cooperation" as a follow-up to a series of meetings at the G20 Summit in Bali last month.
In addition to economic cooperation, the two ministers agreed to explore the possibility of cooperation in the mining sector, sustainable fish farming, and maritime-based tourism.
Since Sri Lanka is prone to natural disasters, Indonesia considers it necessary to increase its cooperation with the South Asian country, particularly in disaster mitigation and disaster impact management.

Papua urged to develop tourism sector more seriously: BPS

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has called on the Papua administration to pay more serious attention to tourism development as the sector is a promising source of locally generated income (PAD), the agency's official said.
Papua Province has abundant tourist attractions and destinations, Coordinator of the Functions of Statistical Distribution at BPS-Papua Office Akhmad Fauzi said in a statement that ANTARA quoted here Sunday.
Papua has a variety of stunning beaches as well as diverse cultural and historical heritages, he said, adding that these all could attract more domestic and foreign travellers to come.
In Sumberker Village, Samofa Sub-district, Biak Numfor District, for instance, there is a Japanese Cave.
As disclosed by the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, the cave is one of remnants of the World War II where visitors can still find light and heavy weapons, bullets, helmets, planes, tanks, bombs, foodware, swords, and medical equipment, in the front yard of the site.
Several festivals that have annually been held could also contribute significantly to the province's economic growth if they were well managed, he said.
However, the regional administrations have yet to involve intensively in promoting and selling the province's tourist attractions and destinations, he said.
Instead, people still become the driving force of Papua's tourism industry due to their intensive involvement in promoting and selling the tour packages, Fauzi said.
The tourism sector can be developed more rapidly if the regional governments actively involve in developing and promoting the sector, and adopt it as an important factor for economic growth besides mining.
The tourism sector could also become a potential income source of PAD for the new provinces of Papua Pegunungan, Papua Selatan, and Papua Tengah, he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA)-Papua Chapter Iwanta Peranginangin said he would promote tour packages in the three new provinces for local and foreign tourists.

Gov't asks people in red zone of Mount Semeru eruption to evacuate

Deputy Head of Lumajang District Indah Amperawati appealed to all residents who live in the red zone of the Mount Semeru eruption in Lumajang District, East Java Province, to take refuge to safer sites.
"We ask residents in the red zone, such as Supiturang Village in Pronojiwo Sub-district and Kajar Kuning Hamlet in Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro Sub-district, to evacuate to safer places," she said while visiting the Mount Semeru Monitoring Post, here, on Sunday.
The volcano erupted and emitted a hot cloud avalanche as far as seven kilometers (km) on Sunday at 02.46 a.m. local time. Meanwhile, the height of the eruption column reached 1.5 km above the mountain peak.
“If there are people who do not want and object to (be evacuated), then our officers will force them to evacuate," the district deputy head remarked.
She informed that the Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) of Lumajang District Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) noted that the residents of Supiurang Village had evacuated themselves at several locations.
The locations included Supiturang 4 Elementary School, Pronojiwo 2 Junior High School, Oro-oro Ombo Village Hall, and the Supiturang Mosque.
"Meanwhile, some of community in Kajar Kuning Hamlet in Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro Sub-district had taken refuge to the Mount Semeru Monitoring Post," Amperawati stated.
A Mount Semeru Monitoring Post Officer, Mardian, urged the people to comply with the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency’s (PVMBG’s) recommendations on Mount Semeru eruption.
PVMBG forbid the community to stay near the volcano within a radius of eight km from its peak.
Meanwhile, at the southeast sector of the mountain, including Besuk Kobokan and Kali Lanang, the people are not allowed to carry out any activity within a radius of 19 km from the peak of the volcano.
In addition, the public is asked to stay vigilant against potentials for hot cloud avalanches and cold lava flows along the rivers and valleys, especially in the areas of Besuk Kobokan, Besuk Bang, Besuk Kembar, and Besuk Sat. (Antaranews)

Some 1,979 residents evacuated due to Mount Semeru eruption: BNPB

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) recorded that 1,979 people took refuge in 11 different places after Mount Semeru in Lumajang District, East Java Province, showed signs of increasing volcanic activity on Sunday.
Acting Head of BNPB's Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said in a press release received on Sunday that the places included Supiturang 4 Elementary School (266 people), Oro-oro Ombo Village Hall (217 people), and Sumberurip 3 Elementary School (119 people).
Furthermore, 228 people took shelter at the Sumberurip Village Hall, 131 people at the Penanggal Village Hall, 52 people at the Mount Semeru Monitoring Post, 216 people at the Pasirian Village Hall, 150 people at Candipuro Field, and 600 people at the Candipuro Sub-district Office.
Meanwhile, the rest evacuated to Pronojiwo 2 Junior High School.
The areas affected by mount Semeru's hot cloud avalanches comprised Supiturang and Sumberurip villages in Pronojiwo Sub-district; as well as Sumbersari Village in Rowokangkung Sub-district.
In addition, the other affected areas were Penanggal and Sumberwuluh villages in Candipuro Sub-district; as well as Pasirian Village in Pasirian Sub-district.
The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) had raised the status of Mount Semeru from Level III or Alert to level IV or Caution.
The volcano erupted on Sunday at 02.46 a.m. local time emitting a hot cloud with an eruption column reaching a height of 1,500 meters above the peak.
Until the BNPB’s press release was published, there were no reports of casualties.
The joint team consisting of the Lumajang District Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), National Search and Rescue Agency, military, police, other related agencies, as well as volunteers continued to evacuate the residents.
A total of 10 thousand cloth masks, 10 thousand medical masks, and four thousand child masks were distributed to the community to anticipate any respiratory infection risks due to the volcanic ash.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and the Lumajang District Social Affairs Office are striving to establish a public kitchen. (antaranews)
