VOInews, Jakarta : The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, the Indonesia Cyber Security Forum (ICSF), the Communication and Information System Security Research Centre (CISSReC), and Cyber Law International successfully organized the Cyber Law Expert Panel: Strategic Approaches to Cyber Governance—International Law Applicable in Cyberspace on June 26–27, 2024, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta.

The event brought together 50 key stakeholders, including government regulators, policymakers, ministry representatives, state-owned enterprises, military and defence personnel, and members of educational institutions. The theme for this year’s event was "Bridging Regulatory, Strategic, and Operational Perspectives in Cybersecurity."

The workshop began with welcome remarks from Ardi Sutedja, Chairman of the Indonesia Cyber Security Forum. His Excellency, Adriaan Palm, delivered an opening address, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the realm of cyber law. The official event launch was conducted by Hinsa Siburian, Kepala Badan Siber, and Sandi Negara Republik Indonesia (BSSN).

"We believe the key to such resilience lies in close cooperation between governments, businesses, and knowledge institutions (or 'multistakeholderism’), as well as close international cooperation. Indonesia and the Netherlands are among the most digitalized countries in Asia and Europe. And with that, cyber security is an absolute precondition for keeping our countries safe and up-and-running," said Adriaan.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday (26/06/24), Cyber Law International introduced participants to its comprehensive educational programme, featuring sessions led by renowned experts like Liis Vihul, CEO and Founder of Cyber Law International, and Professor Michael Schmitt, Director of Legal Affairs at Cyber Law International. The day concluded with a networking dinner, fostering deeper discussions among attendees.

The second day commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Pratama Persadha, Chairman of CISSReC, followed by a panel discussion on "Emerging Trends in Indonesia Cyber Law" featuring Pudja Unggul Kartiman, Deputy Chairman and Co-Founder of ICSF, Liis Vihul, and Dr. Pratama Persadha. This insightful session delved into the current and future trends shaping Indonesia's cyber law landscape.

The success of this workshop would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of all participating organizations. We extend our special thanks to the speakers, panellists, and attendees whose active participation and engagement made this event a resounding success//VOI

The winners of best librarian 2024 (Photo : Perpusnas) -

VOInews, Jakarta : National Library librarian Edi Wiyono was selected as the first best in the 2024 National Best Achievement Librarian Selection event. Second best was a librarian from the Parepare City Library Service, Hery. And the third best went to librarian Rahmawati from MAN 4 Aceh Besar.

Deputy for National Library Resource Development, Adin Bondar, on the eve of the election peak, said that the achievements achieved were not easy. A librarian is someone who has competence, both skills, expertise and attitude. A librarian's duties are very heavy, apart from being a library manager and service provider.

"Librarians must ensure that people's rights to information and knowledge are fulfilled for their life skills and the realization of inclusive development goals which are centered on improving the quality of human resources," said Adin.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Thursday (27/0624), the progress of digitalization and artificial intelligence today has an impact on the degradation of library functions, including changes in people's behavior. Like it or not, libraries are also required to improve their service quality.

Libraries need to carry out transformations in the form of creativity and innovation to make them more dynamic, added Adin.

Acting Head of the Center for Librarian Development, Nurcahyono, said that from data on 21 thousand librarians and librarians, only around three thousand have been certified.

"We will continue to improve this because to manage a professional library there are professional people behind it, namely librarians who are equipped with professional competencies," concluded Nurcahyono//VOI
