President Joko Widodo Supports Severe Punishment for Corruptors, Drug Agents and Terrorists
Written by Ani HasanahPresident Joko Widodo ensured that the government keeps supporting the Supreme Court's move in realizing a clean, fair and dignified justice. He also pointed out that three perpetrators who had to face severe punishment are corruptors, drug agents and terrorists. This was affirmed by President Joko Widodo at Special Plenary Session of the Annual Report of the Supreme Court of 2017 at the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan in Jakarta on Friday. On the occasion, he also appreciated the performance of the Supreme Court which continued to improve during 2017. The President advised that the Supreme Court continues to present a credible and trusted judiciary for better legal certainty in Indonesia.
“The government continues to support the Supreme Court's steps in realizing a clean, fair, and dignified justice. It makes all parties discipline in the judicial process. It also decides severe punishment and deterrent effect to the perpetrators of corruption, drug agents, terrorists, and anyone who destroys Indonesian unity, and disrupts justice in our country,” President Joko WIdodo said.
Furthermore, President Joko Widodo hopes that prospective judges who will start working at the Supreme Court can maintain their integrity. He views that the judges with high integrity and profession will produce a fair trial verdict and win the trust of the people and the trust seekers from the international world. (VOI/Rini H)

Indonesian Coffee Council Officially Established and Expected to Advance Indonesian Coffee
Written by Ani HasanahFormer Indonesian Agriculture Minister for 2004-2009 period, Anton Apriantono has announced the establishment of Indonesian Coffee Council (Dekopi) at Intermark Serpong, Tangerang, Banten on Thursday (March 1st). The council and the Nusantara Coffee Exhibition will be inaugurated on 11 March 2018. The establishment of the Indonesian Coffee council is expected to popularize coffee as Indonesia's flagship commodity and promote the Indonesian coffee industry and enhance the welfare of the community, especially farmers and related parties.
"We want to further echo the spirit to improve, firs, the glory and the second welfare. So, we want this coffee to be one commodity that can improve the welfare of the businesspeople starting from the farmers or from the upstream and to the cultivators. So, we want this coffee to have a lot of derivatives or products,” Anton Apriantono said.
Anton Apriantono further said that the council will also propose to the government to make March 11th as the National Coffee Day as mark of the rise of Indonesian coffee. The Nusantara coffee exhibition will last for three days from 9 to 11 March 2018 at Intermark Convention Hall Serpong, Tangerang, Banten. (VOI/Egi/RHM)

In addition to Bahasa Indonesia, Several Indonesian Regional Languages are Available in Wikipedia

The Project Ganesha competition is a writing one initiated by Wikimedia Indonesia and Goethe-Institut Indonesien since September 2017, and ended February. Through this project, Wikipedia, Wikimedia Indonesia product has a mission to provide free knowledge to all Indonesian people. Ivonne Kristiani at the Press Talk Project Ganesha at Goethe Haus, Jakarta, Wednesday (28/02) explained that to make it easier for local people to get knowledge, Wikipedia is now available in several regional languages, such as the regional languages of Aceh, Banjar, Banyumasan, Bugis, Java, Malay, Minangkabau, Tetun, Sundanese, and in the future, there will be the launch of Gorontalo language.
“…The mission to make the knowledge free and accesible by everyone is not only in Indonesia Wikipedia. We are also aware that in Indonesia there are a lot more languages spoken. That's why we have several questions of Wikipedia not just in Indonesian but we also have Acehnese, Banjar, Banyumasan, Bugis, Javanese, Melayu, Minangkabau, Tetun, Sundanese and we are also about to launch the Gorontalo Wikipedia soon,” Ivonne said.
Ivonne Kristiani added that after 15 years, there have been more than 400,000 registered articles on Wikipedia Indonesia, and it has already about one million registered users. Based on the number of the articles, Wikipedia Indonesia is currently standing at the 25th position of the world with the most number of articles. (VOI/Egi/Trans by Rhm)

President Joko Widodo Receives Input from Law Experts
Written by Ani HasanahPresident Joko Widodo received inputs from a number of Indonesian law experts related to the pros and cons of the People's Consultative Assembly–MPR, the House of Representatives-DPR, the Regional Representative Council and the Regional People's Representative Council -MD3 Law in the community. Former Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Mahfud MD explained in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/2) that he and other law experts gave a number of views regarding the MD3 Law and the Criminal Code to President Joko Widodo, including an alternative legal consideration for the President with the full authority to decide the steps to be taken related to the pros and cons of the law.
“…The issues of MD3 are three chapters, namely chapter 73, chapter 122 and 245. We present our views and public views. Then, we say the President has a constitutional right, the constitutional authority, to immediately take any decision. And that's the consequence of the President's Office. So, we also have to follow what the President stipulates,” Mahfud MD said.
Prof. Mahfud hopes that the President can immediately take a decision. A number of law experts who attended the meeting with the President were Eddy Omar Syarief Hiariej, Maruarar Siahaan, and Luhut Pangaribuan.(VOI/Andy/RHM)
