Primaduta Award for Lebanese Businessman (0)
The Indonesian Embassy in Beirut has acknowledged its continued support for trade cooperation improvement between Indonesia and Lebanon. Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon Hajriyanto Y Thohari gave the Primaduta Award to Lebanese businessman and importer, George R Fattouh. The award was given for his service in helping market Indonesian products in Paris from the Middle East. The award was given at a ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, Thursday (11/1) Fatough, is the owner of George R. Fattouh S.A.L, a business that has been importing Indonesian products since the 1980s. It has a range of products, including: palm oil and its derivatives, oil and fats (including cocoa butter substitute, fat spread, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, and lauric confectionery fats), cardboard, stationary, and school equipment. Some Indonesian products are now even available at famous retail networks, such as Spinney’s and Carrefour. In 2022, the value imported by George R. Fattough S.A.L of Indonesian products, was 981.3 million USD. This was a 149.5 million USD increase when compared to 2021. Fattouh said Indonesian products are known for their quality and are in high demand in Lebanese markets. However, he said, the challenge now is increasing freight costs due to security challenges in the region.

Listeners, a number of delicious dishes were served to the guests of Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta, at the wedding reception of the youngest son of K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, namely B.P.H. Kusumo Kuntonugroho with Laily Annisa Kusumastuti which was held on January 10, 2024.Head of the Customs and Accommodation Division, Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman, KRT Radyo Wisroyo said that the menu served to guests was quite varied. These menus are typical menus prepared by Pakualaman Pura, Indonesian menus and western food menus were also available. All invited guests including VIP and VVIP guests got the same menu. The first menu served to welcome guests, namely two types of welcome drink, namely lime lemongrass and ginger drink with lime. The welcome drink was given when guests sat down and watched the Bedhaya Sidamukti and Bedhaya Kakung Indrawidagda dance performances. Next, they gotsnacks for appetizer such as croquettes and other light snacks. There is a snack that is considered quite special and rare called Garulina. Garulina was the opening snack at the Pahargyan Dhaup Ageng Pakualaman lunch on the first day. Garulina has been around since the era before Indonesian independence. Garulina is actually not a typical Central Javanese food. It looks like the Lapis Legit layered cake, but there is something different, because there is a special layer like vla which is made from fresh milk, eggs and sugar. To get this sweet snack, Pakulaman Temple has to place a special order from the third generation of makers who have been pioneering since the 1950s. In Jogja, Garulina is very difficult to find and is considered rare because it is not sold every day.

Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Pradeep Kumar Rawat on Saturday (14/3) visited Banjar regency related to cooperation plan between the governments of India and Banjar regency. The cooperation plans with Banjar regency cover diamond processing, skill development and human resources. Regent of Banjar, Khalilurrahman hopes that in the meeting, they also discussed cooperation to exchange information by being able to improve the welfare of the people of Banjar Regency. Ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat explained that his arrival aimed to know more on Banjar regency and also to see any existing potential in Martapura which can be developed. He also offered the cooperation plan, especially in the field of culture and the results of natural resources in Banjar Regency.
Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki held a bilateral meeting with delegation of the government of the Dutch Kingdom which was led by Vice Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Dutch Kingdom, Jan-Kees Goet in Jakarta on Thursday (12/3). On the occasion, Minister Teten Masduki offered development cooperation of Indonesian Agricultural Cooperative with agricultural cooperative in the Netherlands. Indonesian embassy in Madrid, Spain on Sunday (15/3) called on Indonesian citizens in order to obey the policy of local government which restricts outdoor activities for 15 days beginning on Monday (16/3) in order to reduce the spread of new types of corona viruses -COVID-19). The Indonesian embassy in Madrid requests Indonesian citizens to provide sufficient food and medicines and actively establish communication with the Indonesian representative office in Spain. This was stated by the Executive of the Social and Cultural Education Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid, Ekalyptha Setyo Cahyono through a written statement received in Jakarta. During the period of isolation, the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid also requested Indonesian citizens, who are on holidays in Spain, to immediately return to Indonesia, remembering that all attractions and restaurants are suspended to operate in Spain.

UGM Creates Bio Hand Sanitizer Innovation with Nano Technology

So, the masks and hand sanitizers are becoming rare in the market. In fact, efforts to prevent the spread of the corona virus can be done with a clean and healthy lifestyle. One of them is by washing hands with soap. However, if it is outside and there is no water or soap, the choice is with antiseptic liquid hand sanitizer. Seeing this condition, one of the lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Gadjah Mada University, UGM, Dr. Ronny Martien, M.Sc., makes herbal Nano polymers hand sanitizer spray.

This product was made as an alternative to antiseptics because hand sanitizers are now rare and expensive in the market due to the outbreak of the corona virus in Indonesia. The raw ingredient is green betel leaf which is widely used as traditional medicine.Apparently, the development of a product called " Betel Infusion Nano polymer Spray " has been carried out by Ronny since last year. The green betel leaf was chosen as raw material because it has an antibacterial activity which is generally caused by bacterial infections such as Staphylococcus auerus and Escherichia coli. He also remarked that the use of many synthetic antibiotics cause bacterial resistance. Because it needs formulations from natural ingredients such as green betel leaf.
The hand sanitizer product made by Ronny uses Nano technology. The formulation in the form of nanoparticles is carried out because green betel leaves has relatively low solubility in water. According to him, the betel leaf infusion Nano polymer spray is made alcohol-free by formulating betel leaf infusion with chitosan. Therefore, he hopes that his creation can be an alternative solution in overcoming scarcity and the high cost of hand sanitizers on the market.

Indonesian Embassy in Seoul rotated the Aju Command Post close to Daegu City as the corona virus outbreak centers in South Korea by withdrawing the previous team and sending a second team on Thursday (12/3). The embassy in a press statement stated that Aju Command Post team from Daegu is in good health. After returning to the duty, the team will conduct an independent quarantine and work at home for 14 days. The team will be replaced every two weeks with the aim of changing officers to continuously monitor the situation of around 1,403 Indonesian Citizens (WNI) who live in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do cities as the two areas most affected by the outbreak. The Aju Command Post was established on February 27 in Gyeongbuk, Euiseonggun, Bongyangmyeon Ansilgil 7-11, about 50 kilometres from Daegu City, as an expansion of the efforts to protect Indonesian citizens, particularly after the South Korean government set a high alertness status.
Indonesian Embassy in Singapore announced that there are five Indonesian citizens who are positive for COVID-19 in the local country and one of them is declared to have recovered and returned from the hospital. This was said by Head of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore's Social and Political Affairs Office, Ratna Lestari Harjana on Thursday (12/3). The number of COVID-19 Positive Indonesians continuously grows. Finally, the Singaporean Ministry of Health announced the 170th positive case of COVID-19 in Singapore on Wednesday (11/3), a 56-year-old Indonesian citizen with female sex arrived in Singapore on March 9, 2020 and was delivered to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on the same day. The test results concerned tested positive for COVID-19 on the afternoon of March 10. The Indonesian citizen felt the symptoms of COVID-19 since March 6 while she was in Indonesia. The Indonesian Embassy released that the Indonesian citizen is a family member of the 152th case of Indonesian citizen who has been declared positive for COVID-19. The Indonesian Embassy will continuously and closely monitor and coordinate with relevant authorities regarding with the tackling of these Indonesian citizens.
Indonesian Embassy in Singapore urged Indonesian citizens who want to visit the "Lion Country" to prepare themselves with travel insurance related to local state policy in handling COVID-19. Based on the provisions of the Singaporean Government, from 7 March 2020, all visitors visiting Singapore, with a short-term visit pass (tourist visa / 30-day visit) who undergo COVID-19 treatment in Singapore, are required to pay medical expenses. Head of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore's Social and Political Affairs Office, Ratna Lestari Harjana stated on Thursday (12/3) that it is important for Indonesian citizens to prepare themselves with travel insurance. The Singaporean Ministry of Health will continue to conduct COVID-19 tests free of charge to all parties as a preventive measure for the spread of COVID-19 in Singapore. On the occasion, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore reminded all Indonesian citizens who are in Singapore and Indonesian citizens who plan to visit Singapore that DORSCON Orange status is still applicable.

Indonesian people in Australia enlivened the Moomba 2020 Parade in Melbourne, Australia by performing various traditional archipelago clothes (09/03/2020). In 2020, the Indonesian people are divided into 2 groups coordinated by the Saman Melbourne Studio and the Indonesian Diaspora Network Victoria (IDN) Victoria). Harryvan Marpaung who as a creative designer of the Indonesian contingent's traditional clothing explained that the cloths used by the Indonesian people at the 2020 Moomba Parade was the result of development, modification of traditional cloths in order to be more merily which is based on the atmosphere of Moomba Parade's festivity. Coordinator of Victoria, Sulistyawan Wibisono stated that to enliven the Indonesian contingent at the Moomba Festival Parade, his side also brought the Garuda Emas and a pair of Ondel-Ondel costumes from Indonesia.
Indonesia keeps on communicating to map the number of Indonesian citizens who are in Italy after the announcement of a "lockdown" to the all territories of the country as a quarantine effort to overcome the corona virus. Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi at the Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java stated on Tuesday that the Foreign Ministry continuously monitors the condition of Indonesian citizens in Italy from time to time. Minister Retno explained that currently all countries are getting busy with developments of the virus which keeps happening. Nevertheless, the country has obligation to pay attention the safety of its citizens.
Indonesian Community in New Zealand, Indonesia-Garuda Blenheim New Zealand (Garuda BNZ) enlivened the Malborough Multicultural Festival (MMF) by performing Indonesian traditional dances (07/03/2020). Garuda BNZ also served Indonesian typical foods such as grilled chicken, rendang rice, risoles, rolled omelette and bakwan. On the main stage, Garuda BNZ performed Maumere and Merak dances interactively, so that the dances were followed by the visitors. Garuda BNZ also wore traditional clothes and showed parade of the regional traditional clothes. The biennial event was organized by the Malborough City Council and was attended by Coordinators and staffs of Social and Cultural Affairs Function of the Indonesian Embassy. The committees of MMF expressed their gratitude over the presence and participation of Indonesia that performed various culture and arts of Indonesia.

A dagger or Kris owned by Prince Diponegoro, which was reportedly unknown, was finally found and returned to Indonesia. This Kris was found in the Volkenkunde Museum, Leiden, the Netherlands, and a few days later, it was immediately handed over to the Indonesian National Museum. This Kris has been received by Indonesian Ambassador I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja at the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague. On Thursday (5/30). He handed it over directly to the Head of the Indonesian National Museum, Siswanto. On 10th of March, the Kris named Kiai Nogo Siluman will be exhibited at the meeting of Dutch King Willem-Alexander with Indonesian President Joko Widodo. The historical dagger will be also exhibited, especially at the National Museum, along with other Prince Diponegoro’s heirloom stuffs. They are stuffs which were returned in 1978, namely spears, horse saddles and honor umbrellas.
To keep promoting Rendang worldwide, the city government of Payakumbuh in West Sumatera signed 2 memoranda of understanding of cooperation related to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of Payakumbuh. The MoU was signed in Payakumbuh, on Saturday (7/3) by Mayor of Payakumbuh, Riza Falepi, Director of Indonesian Representative of Malaysian Small Business Entrepreneurship Board, Teuku Eddy Faisal Rusydi. One of the MoU was signed by representatives of Cooperative of Randang Saiyo Wawako Center, Erwin Yunaz and PT. Imza Risky Jaya Jakarta, Dr. Rizayati. Malaysian Small Business Entrepreneurship Board has more than 50,000 companies which export to 20 countries as their marketing networks. The Board is attracted to facilitate the products to transit in Malaysia and then, the products are continued to other 20 countries.
Bank Indonesia and Bank of Korea signed an extension of bilateral currency swap arrangement cooperation (BCSA) worth KRW 10.7 trillion or Rp115 trillion which is valid effectively on March 6, 2020–March 5, 2023 and it can be extended on the agreement of the two sides. The signing was conducted by Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, and Governor of Bank of Korea, Juyeol Lee in Jakarta, on Thursday (March 5). The cooperation enables swap local currencies among the two central banks. The goals of the agreement are to encourage bilateral trade and to strengthen financial cooperation which is useful for economic development of the two countries.

Gadjah Mada University plants thousands of bamboos in Wanagama for nature preservation
Written by MaryatiGadjah Mada University -UGM planted thousands of bamboo seeds for the development of the Bamboo Forest Nature Conservation Program in the Wanagama Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK), Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Wednesday (4/3). This development was carried out by UGM in collaboration with PT Taspen to create sustainable nature. Director of the Wanagama, Dwiko Budi Permadi said that one of the efforts to preserve nature is to plant bamboo. Ecologically, this plant can store water and fertilize many microorganisms that grow underneath.
Dwiko said that aside from being able to store large amounts of water, bamboos also hold good carbon stocks to mitigate climate change. Besides, they have economic benefits because the stems can be a tough building material and bamboo shoots can be a source of community food. The Wanagama Bamboo Forest Conservation activity was originally conceived by the UGM Forestry Faculty as part of the 1,000 units of bamboo village movement which became the strategic plan of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry -KLHK and the Bambu Lestari Foundation, specifically the Yogyakarta cluster. To support the Wanagama Bamboo Forest Conservation activities in the 7, 13 and 16 plot locations, Taspen provided assistance in the form of 2,300 bambu betung or giant bamboo planting seeds which had been planted in stages.
In December 2019, planting phase 1 was carried out according to the target of 1,100 seedlings on an area of 1 hectare where the planting location is not far from the river so that the chances of bamboo plant life would be longer. The next stage of planting 1,100 seeds has been completed and the remaining 100 stems are used for replanting. In addition, bamboo infusion technology is also applied to anticipate water shortages in the dry season. In these regards, UGM also keeps developing technologies that can increase the economic value of the bamboos.

Young generation of representatives of 77 countries will learn arts and cultures of Minang for three months in Padang, West Sumatera in an event ‘Indonesia Channel’ program. The Indonesian Channel is initiated by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry. The representatives of the 77 countries will learn local arts and cultures directly in the region, such as Padang, Solo, Banyuwangi, Makassar, and Kutai for three months. One week before returning to their countries, they will conduct art and cultural performance in Padang and this will be attended by ambassadors from their countries. In addition, West Sumatera is also trusted to host the Indonesian Channel on October 11 and 12, 2020. The province becomes the first region outside Java Island which will be host of the implementation of the program.
To promote Indonesian culture in the Netherlands, including Balinese religious culture, and to coincide with the celebration of Galungan and Kuningan, the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague held a joint prayer and Balinese Religious Culture performance in the Hague, Saturday (29/2). The event was attended by around 200 people. They are not only Hindus who live in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, but also the people of Indonesia, the Diaspora and Friends of Indonesia. Galungan and Kuningan celebrations at the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague were opened with Rejang Renteng Dance. The dancers composed of women and an odd number danced beautifully and enthusiastically. This dance is a symbol that humans in the world must dare to let go of the ego and can live in harmony with nature in a bid to create harmony of life.
Monash University of Australia collaborates in education and research with Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). One of the departments to be developed by Monash University in Jakarta is the Department of Architecture and Planning. Representative from Monash University, Andrew said that he just received the establishment license in Jakarta from Indonesian government. Thereby, the university wants to establish cooperation with universities in Indonesia. In collaboration with ITB, Monash University would like to develop the Architecture and Planning Department, because the department is still relatively new. Monash University has a good and longstanding relationship with Indonesia. In addition, there are many Monash University graduates from Indonesia.

Labuan Bajo became an attraction at the Southeast European tourism exhibition event of Belgrade International Tourism Fair which was held in Belgrade, Serbia, February 20-23, 2020. Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade collaborated with the Labuan Bajo Flores of Authority's Implementing Agency to promote Labuan Bajo at Belgrade International Tourism fair which is held every year presented around 900 exhibitors from 40 countries and visited by around 65,000 visitors. Secretary of Economic Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, Tri Aryadi to Antara London on Sunday (23/2) explained that the participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade in this exhibition was one of the priority programs in 2020. For visitors and travel agents in Serbia, information about Labuan Bajo is new thing to the people who have only known Bali all this time, which is still a favorite destination for Serbian tourists.
Indonesia collaborated with provincial government of Dakahlia held "Indonesia-Egypt Cultural Day" at the Mansoura City Public Library, Dakahlia, Egypt (20/02/2020). The activity was enlivened by exhibitions of Indonesian and Egyptian products and handicrafts, tourism exhibitions, art and cultural performances, and bilateral meetings between local government officials and the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. Cairo's Educational and Cultural Attachment Usman Syihab, representing the Indonesian Ambassador toEgypt Helmy Fauzy explained that Indonesia and Egypt have very close relations long before Indonesia's independence. He hopes the activity will produce concrete result in strengthening relations between the two countries in the present and the future, in introducing particularly to Egyptian youth about Indonesian culture which is very rich and diversed.

Indonesian embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia conducted "KBRI Goes to School” program to introduce the wealth of Indonesian culture and language at Auditorium of Sisowath High School on Saturday (22/2). First Secretary of Social and Culture Information Function of the Indonesian embassy in Phnom Penh, Made Santi Ratnasari gave a presentation on Indonesia, including information of Indonesian scholarship. The event was continued by learning Indonesian language which was packaged with fun games and attractive entertainment prizes. After learning the Indonesian language, art team of Indonesian Cultural Center in Cambodia also performed at the event. A lively welcome of students welcomed the art team which played Angklung to accompany Indonesian and Cambodian songs, namely Gundul Gundul Pacul and Cambodian popular songs, Om Teuk. The event was closed with Angklung Workshop which was participated enthusiastically. Indonesia always participates in National Multicultural Festival which is the biggest international festival in Canberra, Australia. The festival which was conducted on Saturday (22/2) amazed more than 300 thousand visitors who are Australian residents and foreign residents who live in Canberra. This year, Indonesia presented Barong dance of Bali amidst the performance of 10 Southeast Asian countries on ASEAN Village stage. On the main stage, Indonesia presented two Balinese contemporary ethnic dances and this was followed by Barong dance which was greeted by standing ovation of thousands of audiences. In addition, there was Indonesia stand which displayed an expo covering three Indonesian main products, namely tourism destination products with the theme 10 New Bali, arts and handicrafts exhibition, and Indonesian trademarks which have entered Australian markets, both from small and medium enterprises. Indonesian embassy in Copenhagen cooperated with Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry to participate in tourism exhibition of Danish Travel Show which was held in Herning, Denmark on February 21-23, 2020. Various kinds of Indonesian tourism packages were offered, and also various culinary and traditional dances were promoted. Tourism trip packages of Kalimantan and Papua were in demand at Danish Travel Show 2020. Lars Faursholt, travel specialist of Denmark who joined in Indonesia’s pavilion, offered an exclusive package by inviting visitors to conduct tour to Papua to know more cultures of Dani tribe and enjoyed Baliem Wamena Valley Festival. Meanwhile in Kalimantan, the visitors were invited to know Dayak tribe and to see closer orangutan at its natural habitat. The trip packages were sold out on the first day to visit in August 2020.

Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali welcomed the arrival of young Indonesian lifters who bought up 16 gold medals at the Asian Youth and Youth Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
