The Indonesian Embassy in Beirut has acknowledged its continued support for trade cooperation improvement between Indonesia and Lebanon. Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon Hajriyanto Y Thohari gave the Primaduta Award to Lebanese businessman and importer, George R Fattouh. The award was given for his service in helping market Indonesian products in Paris from the Middle East. The award was given at a ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, Thursday (11/1) Fatough, is the owner of George R. Fattouh S.A.L, a business that has been importing Indonesian products since the 1980s. It has a range of products, including: palm oil and its derivatives, oil and fats (including cocoa butter substitute, fat spread, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, and lauric confectionery fats), cardboard, stationary, and school equipment. Some Indonesian products are now even available at famous retail networks, such as Spinney’s and Carrefour. In 2022, the value imported by George R. Fattough S.A.L of Indonesian products, was 981.3 million USD. This was a 149.5 million USD increase when compared to 2021. Fattouh said Indonesian products are known for their quality and are in high demand in Lebanese markets. However, he said, the challenge now is increasing freight costs due to security challenges in the region.

Listeners, a number of delicious dishes were served to the guests of Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta, at the wedding reception of the youngest son of K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, namely B.P.H. Kusumo Kuntonugroho with Laily Annisa Kusumastuti which was held on January 10, 2024.Head of the Customs and Accommodation Division, Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman, KRT Radyo Wisroyo said that the menu served to guests was quite varied. These menus are typical menus prepared by Pakualaman Pura, Indonesian menus and western food menus were also available. All invited guests including VIP and VVIP guests got the same menu. The first menu served to welcome guests, namely two types of welcome drink, namely lime lemongrass and ginger drink with lime. The welcome drink was given when guests sat down and watched the Bedhaya Sidamukti and Bedhaya Kakung Indrawidagda dance performances. Next, they gotsnacks for appetizer such as croquettes and other light snacks. There is a snack that is considered quite special and rare called Garulina. Garulina was the opening snack at the Pahargyan Dhaup Ageng Pakualaman lunch on the first day. Garulina has been around since the era before Indonesian independence. Garulina is actually not a typical Central Javanese food. It looks like the Lapis Legit layered cake, but there is something different, because there is a special layer like vla which is made from fresh milk, eggs and sugar. To get this sweet snack, Pakulaman Temple has to place a special order from the third generation of makers who have been pioneering since the 1950s. In Jogja, Garulina is very difficult to find and is considered rare because it is not sold every day.

February 13 is annually celebrated as World Radio Day. The role of radio is recognized to be important, because radio can reach wide community quickly. Representative of Palangkaraya Diocese, Pastor Subandi, after "Kalimantan Tengah Menyapa" dialog at Palangkaraya RRI on Tuesday (13/2) said, the merits of radio must be used for educating people, especially on environmental issues. He explained, radio nowadays must keep innovating to be accepted by listeners. The increasing number of social media becomes rivals of radio. However, He also said, the social media is relatively limited, because not all people join it. He added that radio also plays a strategic role in educating people to be not easily provoked by invalidated issues spread in social media. Pastor Subandi hopes, radio can be used to spread useful information for people's welfare.
Youths of Central Aceh, initiated by the National Committee of Indonesian Youth and the Indonesian Nationalist Student Movement, held a seminar on the dangers of drugs at Takengon Arts Building on Tuesday (13/2). Chair of the organizing Committee, Mulyadi, amidst the seminar said, the event was held based on the spirit of the youths to prevent drug abuse that currently is getting more and more worrying. The seminar themed "Drug Prevention Through Local Wisdom" according to Mulyadi, received support from Aceh Tengah Regency Government, Aceh Tengah Legislative Council, and many other parties. Aceh Tengah Regent, Shabela Abukabar appreciated the youths' movement that had initiated an important activity to educate the people, especially the youths, to stay away from drugs. According to Shabela, local wisdom can help preventing drug trafficking among the people, by increasing togetherness, reminding each other, and sharing information if people find any drug abuse suspects. Cooperation from all is needed to anticipate the drug abuse and trade, beginning from the lowest level of community which is the family and village until higher governmental structure. In the seminar, there was also the signing of Integrity Pact as joint commitment to prevent and eradicate drug trafficking.
Deputy Regent of Jember, Kyai Muqit Arief called on all people of Jember Regency, East Java Province not to be easily provoked by issues that try to disturb the religious harmony that leads to disintegration of Indonesia. Various attacks against religious figures in several regions were suspected to be effort from certain groups with hidden agenda that is not based on any religious teaching. That was stated by Kyai Muqit to RRI Jember on Tuesday (13/2). According to Kyai Muqit, in every religious teaching, the attacks by the irresponsible individual were anarchism that cannot be justified and must be condemned. Therefore, to prevent similar cases from spreading into other regions, including Jember regency, more proactive communication among interfaith figures is important to give enlightenment to the people.

The central government plans to build airport in Purbalingga and Blora regency, Central Java province to increase people’s economy and welfare. Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi after attending topping off of new terminal of Ahmad Yani International Airport, Semarang, said on Sunday that the growth of investment and economy in Central Java province requires more air transportation. Request on airport development has been submitted to the Ministry of Transportation. The Minister explained that airport development in Purbalingga regency which is the expansion from General Soedirman airbase to a commercial airport, is still in the process of land procurement. For the development of the airport in Blora regency, Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said it is still in the design planning. The location of the General Soedirman airport in Central Java in the West is very strategic. In addition to supporting air transportation, the airport in Purbalingga also promotes the regional economy of surrounding areas such as Banyumas, Pemalang, Banjarnegara, Kebumen, and Wonosobo.
To introduce and preserve the beauty of typical archipelagic batik in international event, designer from Surabaya, Lia Afif is interested in the uniqueness and the beauty of Trenggalek batik. Therefore, the designer, who has experience in Muslim fashion, will bring Trenggalek batik in London Fashion Week 2018. Around 15 models of Islamic clothes combination with Trenggalek batik will be brought to the prestigious event which is held starting from February 16 until 20, 2018.
Lia Afif, said on Sunday (11/2) that Trenggalek batik has various kinds of unique motifs namely clove, durian, mangosteen, and also motif of jaranan turangga yakso dance. The 15 models of Islamic clothes are taken from batik craftsmen in Trenggalek. According to Lia, Trenggalek batik is very unique with its natural color. The complicated making process and also natural color, make the designer interested in designing and participating in London Fashion Week 2018. Minister of Freign Affairs, Retno Marsudi along with representatives of neighbor countries held Asian Games 2018 diplomatic walk at Bung Karno stadium complex in Jakarta on Sunday ( 11/2 ). The event was held to see the Indonesian preparedness in holding the biggest sport event in Asia. The minister, diplomats, and also ambassadors from neighbor countries started diplomatic walk from West lobby of Bung Karno GBK and finished 2 rounds in the complex. Minister Retno Marsudi in her speech said that Asian Games is not only a competition of sport, but also a platform to expand relationship. The minister conveyed to the diplomats and the ambassadors that Indonesia hosted the Asian Games in1962 in Jakarta. In 2018, for the first time in history, the Asian Games will be held in two cities, namely Jakarta and Palembang on August 18 to September 2. Minister Retno Marsudi said that Indonesia is ready to hold the 18th Asian Games this year and invited the representatives of neighbor countries to announce the Indonesian readiness to their countries. Chairman of the Indonesian Women Alliance, Atikah Hasan, said the purpose of this alliance is to build Islamic civilization. The brotherhood spirit of the nation becomes the social capital of Indonesian women into a strong and dignified society. Therefore, this Alliance will focus on working on family resilience. The province of Bangka Belitung Islands hosted the first grand Gathering of National Fishermen held on 10 and 11 February, in Pangkalpinang. Director of the Indonesian Marine and Fisheries Affairs, Ayub Faidiban, Saturday (10/2) stated that the National Fishermen gathering in Bangka Belitung was an event to reveal all the problems experienced by Indonesian fishermen from Sabang to Merauke. He also appreciated the Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands who responded quickly to this activity. Detectives of Narcotics and Drug Unit - Purwakarta Police Resort improved the Socialization on Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Drug Distribution. It was conducted at a mosque in Cibatu Subdistrict, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, Saturday (10/2). To make Purwakarta Regency, West Java, free from drug trafficking, the ranks of Drug Detective Unit provide socialization to the people. Head of Purwakarta Police Drug Investigation Unit, AKP Heri Nurcahyo, said, drugs are one of the biggest threats which existence is always ready to damage human life, especially young people as the next generation of the nation. Indonesia-China relations continue to increase, especially in the economic field. However, the cooperation between the two countries should always be mutually beneficial. This statement was delivered by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi during a courtesy visit to Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China Liu Keqiang, in Beijing on Friday (9/2). She encouraged both countries to overcome challenges and take advantage of opportunities. It is important to realize various cooperation agreements in the fields of economy, trade, and investment, as well as infrastructure, including investment in 4 economic corridors. Therefore, Minister Retno hoped that Prime Minister Liu Keqiang can continue to provide full support for the cooperation and partnership between the two countries. the Minister also expressed the need for efforts to promote the rapid and balanced growth of bilateral trade. In the meeting, Prime Minister Liu Keqiang reiterated the importance of Indonesia-China relations. The Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver participated in the Asian Studies Day at Langara College. The event which was attended by 9 Foreign Consulates, namely Philippines, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, China, Thailand and Taipei Cultural Office was used by the Asian Studies Department to encourage students to recognize the potential of Asian countries in tourism, culture and education sectors. President of Langara College, Dr. Lane Trotter, at the opening ceremony in Vancouver on Tuesday (6/2) expressed appreciation for the participation of several foreign consulates. According to him, this activity was very useful for students pursuing the subject of Asia because they could gain more insight into Asia. The Indonesian government is educating 20 Small and Medium Industries (IKMs) to be startup business in 2018, by utilizing a modern manufacturing technology or e-commerce and market opportunity. Director General of IKM at the Industry Ministry, Gati Wibawaningsih in an official statement in Jakarta Wednesday said, the existence of of startup is currently needed to sell the IKMs’ local products. In realizing the target, the Industry Ministry has a strategic program to educate IKM businesspeople in a bid to have capability in marketing their products. They have made digital platform namely e-smart IKM. The program has started since 2017, as an expansion facility of Indonesian IKM market. In the development program, the Ministry has also cooperated with PT Ruang Raya Indonesia (ruangguru.com) on an increasing capacity of human resources in the industry sector, through the utilization of digital information technology such as e-Smart IKM program. The cooperation through the utilization of digital content is expected to improve the effectiveness of industry development program.
Rhode Island University and Maluku provincial govenrment are exploring cooperation to improve human resources quality, especially the state civil apparatuses (ASN).
Maluku Vice Governor, Zeth Sahburua in Ambon on Wednesday (7/2) said, the Rhode Island University wants to cooperate with the provincial government to improve the human resources quality of the state civil apparatuses in Maluku. The Maluku government welcomes the offer and will immediately follow up the cooperation. The offer of cooperation was conveyed by Dean and Director of Rhode Island University, John D Kirby when he met the Vice Governor of Maluku, Zeth Sahburua in Ambon on Tuesday (6/2). The wellknown university in the America has signed the Memmorandum of Understanding –MoU with some ministries namely Marine and Fishery Ministry and the National Development Planning Agency-Bappenas as well as a number of outstanding universities in Indonesia such as Bandung Technology Institute –ITB, Bogor Agrigulture Institute –IPB, and Gajah Mada University -UGM. Vice Governor Zeth Sahburua also said that the Marine and Fishery Office of Maluku has prepared five qualified personnel of ASN to participate in the Strata 2 and Strata 3 education program or short education program at the university. After completing their study, they must return to Maluku and will be placed in accordance with their knowledge and professionalism to build Maluku as a whole.
The Tourism Ship will serve tourists to Teluk Lampung area.
To develop tourism sector in Lampung province, Vice Governor of Lampung, Bachtiar Basri launched the tourism ship “Samudra Krakatau” on Wednesday (7/2). The ship will serve tourists to Pahawang island and other islands in Teluk lampung area. Aaunching of the tourism vessel, he said that the presence of Samudra Krakatau Ship can boost the number of tourists to Lampung. He also hoped the ship can bridge the domestic and foreign tourists to the waters of the tourism destinations in Teluk Lampung. In addition to promoting the tourism sector, the impact can also boost the economy of the local people around the sea tourism object. Vice Governor Bachtiar views that the Lampung government continues to explore tourism destinations that have not been explored. To preserve Indonesia's national dance culture as part of the nation's wealth and to introduce Indonesian culture to the Germans, the Indonesian Consulate General in Frankfurt has opened another Traditional Dance Course for kids and adults in 2018. Since 2016, the Consulate General in Frankfurt has opened Indonesian traditional dance classes followed by German and Indonesian citizens, both adults and kids. The dances taught are like Pendet, Yapong , and Ngarojeng, and Merak dances. In early 2018, the Consulate General in Frankfurt started a West Sumatra dance course, planned to be held for 10 sessions. The courses are conducted every Saturday, and divided into 2 classes, namely kids's class and adults' class, The Indonesian Ambassador in Colombo, I Gusti Ngurah Ardiyasa along with several staff of the Embassy organized Indonesian cultural and tourism promotion activities at Wycherley International School, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The event was opened by a Senior Dance Instructor, Indranie Nallaiah, and attended by Wycherlle Principal, Kingsley Jayasinghe. As reported by the Indonesian Embassy in Colombo, at the event, Ambassador I Gusti Ngurah Ardiyasa told the students about the history of Indonesia-Sri Lankan diplomatic relations, its geography, and culture. In addition, the Indonesian Ambassador expressed his appreciation to Wycherley International School for its active participation in the visit of Indonesia’s KRI Bima Suci Open Ship some time ago at the port of Colombo.The students were attracted by geographical facts, and ethnic, linguistic, cultural and religious diversity of Indonesia. The Mayor of Surabaya in East Java, Tri Rismaharini will be the speaker at the 9th World Urban Forum held in Kota Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 7 to 13 February. The World Urban Forum is a worldwide non-legislative forum which has been organized annually by the United Nations Habitat since 2002. The focus of the forum is on sustainable development and resettlement. Head of Surabaya City Government Foreign Cooperation Sub-Division, Yanuar Hermawan said that the visit of Surabaya Mayor is on behalf of the National Secretariat of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Surabaya is a representative of Indonesia.He explained that Surabaya is one of the cities that has an important role in the formulation of the new urban agenda script, since it has hosted the Preparatory Committee Meeting of the third Habitat Conference which discussed the zero draft of the new urban agenda document. In addition, the model of urban development undertaken by Surabaya and the development innovation being applied, as well as its role in the formulation of a new urban agenda has been recognized worldwide. Yanuar ensured, the World Urban Forum dialogue will explore the experiences of several countries and regions about the innovation that has been done since 2015 to achieve sustainable development goals and new urban agenda. As a world-level forum, this conference is attended by 193 member states of the United Nations, presenting experts from various fields, including national and regional governments, research and education institutions, UN agencies and other international institutions.

We start from an event on February 8, 1904 about Port Arthur Sea battle.
Port Arthur Sea battle was opening battle between Russia and Japan. The battle was begun with sudden attack at night by the Japanese destroyer squadron on the Russian fleet which was docked in Port Arthur, Manchuria, and continued by great battle in the morning. The battle ended without result and small battle surrounding Port Arthur continued until May 1904. In the war, the Japanese mobilized 15 warships and explorers and escort ships. 90 people were killed. While, Russia deployed 12 warships and explorers. The number of casualties reached 150 people and seven ships were damaged.
The next event is that in 1971, the first electronic stock exchange, NASDAQ was opened in the United States.
NASDAQ or National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations was a stock exchange operated by the National Association of Securities Dealers. When it started trading on February 8, 1971, NASDAQ was the world's first electronic stock exchange. Since 1999, Nasdac was the largest stock exchange in the United States of America. More than half of the companies that traded in the US were recorded here. NASDAQ consisted of NASDAQ National Market and NASDAQ Small Cap Market. Its main exchanges were located in the United States, with branches in Canada and Japan. NASDAQ also had associations with stock exchanges in Hong Kong and Europe. On July 17, 1995, NASDAQ closed at a level above a thousand points for the first time. The peak occurred on March 10, 2000 on which the index reached 5,048. 62 points. On September 11, 2001, the result of the NASDAQ terrorist attack was closed from 11 to 14 September 2001.

Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon at the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on February 8, 2005 announced a ceasefire to end four years of violence in the Middle East. Abbas said that the ceasefire, which began soon, would lead to a "new era of peace and hope". Meanwhile, Sharon vowed to stop military action against Palestinian targets after militants stopped violence. US Secretary of State, Condolezza Rice said that this was the best chance for peace over years. But Sharon and Abbas did not sign a formal ceasefire agreement. Their talks were extensive, including agreements on the release of Palestinian prisoners and the handover of five West Bank cities to Palestinian control. The meeting at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh was a high-level discussion between the two sides since the Palestinian intifada began more than four years earlier.

Director of Dilan 1990, Fajar Bustomi began his career as director in 2013 through a movie entitled “Slank Ga ada Matinya”. Afterwards, Fajar’s career in Indonesian film industry developed as he released various love drama films. Formulating a story into touching visualization is Fajar’s expertise. That expertise gave Fajar an opportunity to direct a touching drama film in 2017 entitled “Surat Kecil Untuk TUHAN”.
“Dilan 1990” is about Dilan and Milea whose story was based on real life. This’s why, the story in “Dilan 1990” feels quite natural and not overdramatic. The teenager issues in 1990 made “Dilan 1990” quite popular. In making the film, Fajar Bustomi cooperated with Pidi Baiq, an author, in adapting the novel into film without discarding core elements of the novel version. In screenwriting, Pidi Baiq was assisted by Titien Wattimena. While the producer of “Dilan 1990” was Ody Mulya Hidayat.
“Dilan 1990” is a love story of two teenagers named Dilan and Milea. The story began from their unusual introduction at a high school in Bandung. They met in 1990 when Milea had just moved from Jakarta to Bandung. The unique introduction made Milea know Dilan further. Dilan is a smart, kind, and romantic boy. He has his own way to approach Milea. Dilan sounds quite awkward, but it made Milea more curious about him. However, their sweet moment must end due to Beni, Milea’s boyfriend who lives in Jakarta. Also, Dilan was apparently involved in brawls and motor gang. Nevertheless, Dilan can make Milea believe that they will be together. But, can Dilan and Milea really be together?
In a press conference held by Falcon Pictures and Max Pictures production houses some time ago in Jakarta, Fajar -the director expressed why they chose Iqbal Ramadhan, former personnel of Coboy Junior boyband, to play Dilan in his film.
“…In casting for Dilan, we spend one year, because his character is different; he is smart. After we discussed with the author, the best choice was Iqbal, because Dilan is purely Indonesian. Also, both Iqbal and Dilan are smart, still in high school, and born in Bandung.” Fajar said.
Casting characters of based-on reality novel is not easy. To strengthen the plot and chemistry, Fajar had his own casting and chose those who were appropriate to the sketches in the novel.
“…In casting Vanessa, Pidi Baiq had told me that Milea and Vanessa are quite similar. Pidi saw Milea in Vanessa. Wati also said that everyone here has similarities with the sketches in the novel.” Fajar added.
“Dilan 1990” film is adapted from a novel that made Pidi Baiq famous. Fajar Bustomi also did not deny that he had a strong connection to the novel, until he finally directed the film.
“…There is something unique between Dilan novel and me. In 2014, I was called by a big production house for a contract to direct 4 films. I asked to direct Dilan first, because its novel had just been released and I felt a connection, but the production house said someone had taken it. Then, I was offered to direct Dilan by Mr. Alfon. How I imagined Dilan now and then is different. I was also introduced with the author. So, I got to know Dilan more deeply. I was going to cast a Caucasian, but I find that Dilan is not a usual teen novel, but about how parents educate their children.” Fajar expressed.
This film is expected to give many life lessons for teenagers, because the meaning of life can be found easier through experience. This also makes audiences crowded every cinema in Indonesia to watch Dilan. It is safe to say that the film was innovation for Indonesian teenagers. As the novel has sequels, “Dilan 1990” will present further story of Dilan and Milea.

Javanese lorises are ready to be released at Mt. Sawal, Ciamis regency, West Java province after rehabilitation process since they were confiscated from animal trade syndicate. Manager Animal Care International Animal Rescue of Indonesia, Prameswari Wendi during the process of habituation of 15 lemurs at the Mt. Sawal Wildlife Reserve in Ciamis, West Java on Tuesday said that all animals underwent long rehabilitation process. The process began from quarantine, medical examination, behavioral observation, feed enrichment until they are declared healthy to be released. Prameswari also explained that the habituation was the last step for the lemurs before being released at the forest as habitat of protected primate animals. The slow lorises that consist of five males and 10 females were secured by the police in Tasikmalaya and Bandung, West Java in 2016.
Director of IAR Program of Indonesia, Karmele L Sanchez added that even after being released, the staff will monitor the animals’ activities by using special tool to observe every development, beginning from behavior, exploring area, sociability and survival from predators. After six-month release, they are monitored. The monitoring process will be helped by radio transmitter. They are equipped with collar radio which will emit signal to receiver radio.
The conservation program of the lorises at Mt. Sawal is cooperation between Central Conservation of Natural Resources, West Java and IAR Indonesia. The program is an effort to support the ongoing ecological processes within the region, as well as to safeguard and increase the population of primates as endemic species that continue to decrease in number.

Technical Faculty of Syiah University in Kuala Banda Aceh will send one unit of urban energy-efficient electric car to International Shell Eco Marathon which will be held in Singapore in March 2018. The urban energy-efficient electric car which is named “Malem Diwa R.2.0” was created by a group of students majoring in mechanical engineering and electronics. Chairman of the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Department, Muhammad Tajudin told the press on Tuesday (6/2/18) that the electric car can run with the distance around 90 kilometers per Kwh, with a blend of power connectivity and highly efficient design. He explained that Usyiah students participated in national competition on energy-efficient electric car in 2015 and won third place. At that time, energy-efficient electric car was able to take the distance 175 kilometers per Kwh. Since 2014, the students have produced solar electric car but it was not for competition. Then in 2015, the car was maintained and competed in the National competition and won third place.

Head of Immigration Division of Regional Office of Law and Human Rights Ministry of North Sulawesi, Dody Karnida explained as quoted by Radio Republik Indonesia on Tuesday (6/2) that for the first step, 4 Filipinos were deported on Thursday, February 1 through Sukarno-Hatta airport to Manila. Meanwhile, 11 Filipinos are scheduled on February 14. Dody added that the deportation has been through procedure, beginning from notification to representatives of the Philippines and to be continued by verification which recognizes their citizenship. Then, they are given travel documents which are completed with ID cards. Dody Karnida made sure that they are in good condition.
