The Indonesian Embassy in Beirut has acknowledged its continued support for trade cooperation improvement between Indonesia and Lebanon. Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon Hajriyanto Y Thohari gave the Primaduta Award to Lebanese businessman and importer, George R Fattouh. The award was given for his service in helping market Indonesian products in Paris from the Middle East. The award was given at a ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, Thursday (11/1)  Fatough, is the owner of George R. Fattouh S.A.L, a business that has been importing Indonesian products since the 1980s. It has a range of products, including: palm oil and its derivatives, oil and fats (including cocoa butter substitute, fat spread, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, and lauric confectionery fats), cardboard, stationary, and school equipment. Some Indonesian products are now even available at famous retail networks, such as Spinney’s and Carrefour. In 2022, the value imported by George R. Fattough S.A.L of Indonesian products, was 981.3 million USD. This was a 149.5 million USD increase when compared to 2021. Fattouh said Indonesian products are known for their quality and are in high demand in Lebanese markets. However, he said, the challenge now is increasing freight costs due to security challenges in the region.

Listeners, a number of delicious dishes were served to the guests of Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta, at the wedding reception of the youngest son of K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, namely B.P.H. Kusumo Kuntonugroho with Laily Annisa Kusumastuti which was held on January 10, 2024.Head of the Customs and Accommodation Division, Dhaup Ageng Pura Pakualaman, KRT Radyo Wisroyo said that the menu served to guests was quite varied. These menus are typical menus prepared by Pakualaman Pura, Indonesian menus and western food menus were also available. All invited guests including VIP and VVIP guests got the same menu. The first menu served to welcome guests, namely two types of welcome drink, namely lime lemongrass and ginger drink with lime. The welcome drink was given when guests sat down and watched the Bedhaya Sidamukti and Bedhaya Kakung Indrawidagda dance performances. Next, they gotsnacks for appetizer such as croquettes and other light snacks. There is a snack that is considered quite special and rare called Garulina. Garulina was the opening snack at the Pahargyan Dhaup Ageng Pakualaman lunch on the first day. Garulina has been around since the era before Indonesian independence. Garulina is actually not a typical Central Javanese food. It looks like the Lapis Legit layered cake, but there is something different, because there is a special layer like vla which is made from fresh milk, eggs and sugar. To get this sweet snack, Pakulaman Temple has to place a special order from the third generation of makers who have been pioneering since the 1950s. In Jogja, Garulina is very difficult to find and is considered rare because it is not sold every day.

Bagimu Negeri Application

Ministry of Communication and Informatics invites digital star-up company in the field of Svara media that launched ‘Bagimu Negeri application’ to shift the existence of applications belonging to foreign country such as Spotify, Youtube and Facebook in Indonesia. According to CEO of Svara, Farid Fadhil Habibi, the application belongs to Indonesia, which later aggregates all positive contents in order to be able to compete globally. The application contains not only positive news but also educative entertainment. In the application, there is also live-chatting which can be conducted by users in making content. The contents are varied such as video, text and audio. For the audio content, there are music, podcast and streaming.

Ministry of Communication and Informatics has invited TVRI and RRI, and also the Ministry’s offices throughout Indonesia to fulfill contents in the application. In addition, the government has also cooperated with National Private Broadcasting Association of Indonesia to collaborate with 585 private radios which join in the Association. About music, Svara has cooperated with National Collective Management Agency to manage royalty, so that music which is played either local or international is not constrained legally. Like in general, music and video streaming application consist of 2 schemes of payment, namely free of charge and paying. Users of the application, who are free of charge, will hear advertisement. The advertisement is such as Public Service Announcement or government program advertisement. Today, the application is still free of charge but its music is playlist form, where its songs which are played, have had license. Playlist from radios in the some regions are regional songs and the music will become different between Bagimu Negeri application and other streaming applications.

 

Bagimu Negeri application has main 3 features: "Home," "Social," and "Library." "Home" becomes home for content providers; one of them is Cosmo radio. Besides live streaming, users can conduct live chatting with presenter. In addition, the application can also broadcast radio visually, as if radio has its own TV-line. In addition, users can also watch musical video of the song which is being played. The video feature is similar with YouTube application which is also able to make the users to switch from song to video by once wipe. Provider of the content can also provide various services, beginning from playlist, until podcast. Bagimu Negeri application can also detect location, so that the users can easily find local radio wherever they are. While,  "Library" feature stores favorite content of the users, namely "Social" feature which is made like social media where the users can share or upload positive content which is made by them. With social feature, hopefully people no longer open Facebook. On social feature, video, photograph, and text can be shared to WhatsApp, such as playlist, But, the users must befriend with each other. Like social media, the users can comment the content and also give "like," and share the content to other users with "+" button. To use Bagimu Negeri application, the users must download at Google Play Store.

TODAY IN HISTORY

Today in History with the event on December 7, 1959 - Aceh was decided to be a Special Region.

Aceh, which was originally named as  Aceh Darussalam, had ever been  subsequently called as the Special Region of Aceh and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam in 2001-2009.  Then, it  becomes the province of Aceh nowadays. Aceh is the westernmost province in Indonesia.  It has its own regulated autonomy, compared with  other provinces in Indonesia, for historical reasons. On 7 December 1959, the Government of Indonesia formally designated Aceh as a special region. At that time, the special status was granted to Aceh in accordance with the Prime Minister's Decree No. 1 / Missi / 1959 whose contents include privileges, religion, worship and education.

Next the Event on December 7, 1995- Galileo's spacecraft arrived in Jupiter.

Galileo is an unmanned spacecraft sent by NASA to study Jupiter and  moon. It was named based on  astronomer and pioneer of  Renaissance, Galileo Galilei; the aircraft was launched on August 18, 1989 by the Atlantis space shuttle with the STS-34 mission. Galileo arrived in Jupiter on December 7, 1995, six years from its launch, with the help of the gravitational trajectories of the Venus and Earth.

Last event  on 7 December 2017 - International Civil Aviation Day.

International Civil Aviation Day refers to the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1996, over the initiative of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which stipulated every 7 December as the day of International Civil Aviation.  Previously, ICAO had established International Civil Aviation Day since 1994, in commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the organization.

The first information is from Switzerland.

Indonesia participated in a charity bazaar organized by the United Nations Women's Guild (UNWG) at the United Nations Building, Geneva, Switzerland on 3 December. A written statement of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia in Geneva on Thursday (5/12) said that the charity bazaar was joined by UN member countries. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to women and children in some countries in need. In this bazaar, there were two types of stands available: handicraft booths and traditional food stands from bazaar participating countries. At the food stand, Indonesia sold fried rice, fried noodles, chicken satay, and rendang. In addition, traditional Indonesian cakes were also sold such as sesame balls, bakwan, rissoles, pastels, rolled pancakes, and panada.

 

The next information is from Malaysia.

A total of 23 travel agents from Aceh and 50 travel agents from Kuala Lumpur held a business meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday, in "Business Matching Aceh - Malaysia Tourism 2019" to sell Aceh's potential in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor State. The activity was organized by the Aceh Culture and Tourism Office in collaboration with the Selangor Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel (MATTA). Head of Tourism and Institutional Business Development Division of the Aceh Culture and Tourism Office, Ismail invited the two travel agents to increase cooperation because they have previously established relations.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in cooperation with the Indonesian Coffee Council (Dekopi) has held a coffee workshop to improve the performance of Indonesian coffee exports to Germany recently. The event is expected to benefit Indonesian coffee entrepreneurs in determining strategies for entering the coffee market in Germany. Indonesian Ambassador in Berlin, as well as the Chair of the Declaration, Anton Apriantono through his written statement on Wednesday (4/12) said that exporting coffee to Europe, especially to Germany has greater complexity compared to other countries. Because consumers in Germany prioritize health. To be able to compete, Indonesian Arabica coffee needs to be further improved when cleaning and packing. In addition, consistency of the level of maturity and quality of seeds must be maintained.

Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia, Kurt Kunz visited Denpasar, Bali, on Friday (6/12) to see directly various urban people’ activities in the region. Based on a press release received in Denpasar on Sunday (8/12), Ambassador Kurt Kunz was admired of various innovation and tourism potential in Denpasar. In addition, the beauty of art, culture and tradition in Denpasar also becomes unique attractions for tourists from Switzerland.

The 12th meeting among Transportation Ministers cooperating with Sub-Regional Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) was held in Jakarta on Friday (6/12). The ministers discussed development of cooperation in transportation sector among the countries. In the meeting, Indonesian Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi reported a number of projects which have been achieved. The projects which were under cooperation of the countries are like the completion and launching of Entikong International Freight Terminal, completion of Pontianak – Entikong Transport Link, flight of PT Garuda Indonesia Manado-Davao, Philippines route with frequency twice per week namely Monday and Friday by using ATR-72-600 plane, and completion of development of Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo for expansion of passengers’ terminal and supporting facilities completed in October 2019.

Indonesian embassy in Amman succeeded again in achieving zero shelter which is accommodated at the Indonesian embassy’s  shelter in Amman. With the achievement, the problem which hampered Indonesian citizens in Jordan could be solved. The achievement of zero shelter at the Indonesian embassy’s Shelter in Amman is the second one after two months before, it was empty. Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Kingdom concurrently Palestine, Andy Rachmianto explained in Amman, Jordan on Sunday (8/12) that the Indonesian embassy in Amman has conducted various efforts to ensure the service and protection to problematic Indonesian citizens to run well. Ambassador Andy assessed that the achievement which has been achieved by Task Force of Indonesian Citizen since 2017 until the end of 2019, is quite good. During the time, the Indonesian embassy in Amman has succeeded to assist mediation process and repatriation as many as 682 Indonesian Migrant Workers and 16 kids. The amount of money as the workers’ rights that was successfully solved through litigation and mediation was worth Rp12 billion.

Indonesia and South Korea have opportunity to establish cooperation to develop creative industry which is viewed to be a big leap to trigger the second economic growth of the state. This was stated by Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita through press release in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/12). In 2018, creative industry was able to give significant contribution on national gross domestic product which is expected to reach Rp1,000 trillion. There are 3 sub-sectors which give big contribution on the creative economy. They are culinary reaching 41,69 percent, fashion and handicraft.

Innovation and creativity are foundation of civilization and key for achievement of Indonesia Onward’s vision. That was affirmed by Director General of Multilateral Cooperation at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Febrian Ruddyard, when opening National Workshop entitled ‘Intellectual Wealth Management,  Technological transfer and Innovation’ in Jakarta ,Wednesday (4/12). The workshop is cooperation between Foreign Affairs Ministry and  World Intellectual Property Organization/ WIPO, whose goal is to achieve vision of innovation development  in all sectors through creation and strengthening Indonesian innovation chain, especially from grass-root level such as Small Medium Enterprises.

Indonesia’s four Start-Ups explore Switzerland’s market.

Four start-ups from Indonesia: Botika, Khaira Energy, Gradana, and Svara Inovasi explore Switzerland market to develop business and establish network and find potential investors in Switzerland. Those CEOs and founders of the start-ups are in Switzerland until December 6. Indonesian embassy in Bern in press release received in London on Wednesday (4/11) reported that those start-ups succeed in passing selection at the event of Asia Entrepreneurship Training Program (AETP) which was sponsored by Zurich University of Applied Science di Zürich, Switzerland. The AETP is start-up exchange program between Indonesia and Switzerland, which makes Indonesia’s start-up obtain technical training from the committee of the program, and also to present business model of start-up to companies and potential investors. Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland, Muliaman D. Hadad appreciated cooperation of Indonesia’s start-ups with Switzerland and hoped that the cooperation can improve the ability of Indonesia in developing ecosystem of national start-up development.

Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul, Turkey in cooperating with various Indonesia’s Diaspora communities in Turkey conducted Indonesian Street Food Festival in Istanbul on Thursday (28/11). The event was a culinary festival with special theme “Jajanan Pasar Indonesia” in Istanbul. Consul of Information and Social Culture of Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul, Jepri Edi said that in addition to introducing the taste of archipelagic snacks to Turkey’s people, the event encourages Indonesian Diaspora culinary entrepreneurship. The event was also meant to introduce various Indonesian arts and cultures, beginning from contemporary music, Pencak Silat and traditional dances. More than 700 visitors of Turkey’s people and Indonesian diaspora visited the festival. In addition to culinary, the event also presented booth which sold various handicrafts and Balinese traditional massage.

Indonesia which was represented by Jesica Fitriani (24), Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2019, participated in Miss Supranational 2019 which was held at Katowice City, Poland. The announcement of the winner will be conducted on December 6. Jesica is the third winner of National Costume 2019 with concept of "The Precious, Boru ni Raja" defeated her competitors from 77 countries. The clothes which were designed by Intan Ayunda Vira from Jember Fashion Carnaval, presented symbol and concept of Batak woman personality which sticks on life values. The first winner for national costume category was won by participant from Mexico.  

Indonesian people in Gothenburg, Sweden conducted an event to welcome Christmas and end of the year which is known as Julfest or Christmas celebration. This event was held by  Indonesia Föreningen-Gothenburg, on Saturday (30/11). According to press release of Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm, Julfest was attended by around 100 people who consisted of Indonesians and Sweden people. The event was enlivened by candles along with Santa Lucia, and performance of music and Sweden or Indonesian dances. On a separated occasion, the Julfest in the end of 2019 was conducted by Indonesia Kulturföreningen-Gothenburg, led by Wawa Forssen, which attended by dozens of Indonesians and Sweden people. The event was enlivened by performance of music and dances from students in Gothenburg.

Indonesian Ambassador to Poland, Siti Nugraha Mauludiah explained that business people become the front guard in concrete bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Poland. Therefore, for the sake of Indonesian government, she appreciated entrepreneurs  of Poland in Warsaw on Monday. Ambassador  Siti Nugraha Mauludiah explained  it at Year-End Business Gathering with  entrepreneurs of Poland. The performance of Javanese Gamelan group of  Surya Kencana collaborated with foreign artists hypnotized successfully about 400 audiences at  their concert at Trafo theater in Budapest, Hungary. Social and Cultural Information Staff of  Budapest Embassy, in a statement received by Antara in London, England, on Tuesday explained that all members of the Javanese gamelan group, Surya Kencana are all Hungarians under control of  Indonesian Embassy  in Hungary (KBRI). Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Hungary,  AH Dimas Wahab explained that the collaboration performance that was held last weekend was by Pete Smith from Oxford Gamelan Society, England, Dr. Sara Weiss from the United States and German-born British dancers of Germany- born , Andrea Rutkowski and Kis Veronika.

Indonesian Embassy in Bratislava introduced  raw and produced tempe. It got positive welcome. Besides , chicken satay also becomes favorite menu of Indonesian booth at  the 28th Charity Christmas Bazaar 2019 held at Old Market Hall Bratislava, Slovakia last weekend. Social and Cultural Information Staff of Indonesian Embassy in Bratislava, Lely Meiliani  in her statement received by Antara London on Tuesday explained that the bazar 2019, Indonesian booth served various food and Indonesian crafts namely chicken satay , tempe, sempol, bean curd, fried rice and various products made from coconut sugar.

The first information is from China.

Indonesian food and beverage industry products appear at the "Ningbo 8th International Food Exhibition" in Ningbo, China on November 8 to 12 2019. This was held in conjunction with the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2019 in Shanghai, China. Director General of the Ministry of Trade's National Export Development, Dody Edward said in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday that Indonesia would continue to penetrate the Chinese market with brands that already exist in the Chinese market as well as other reliable products. It is hoped that this activity will also contribute to increasing Indonesian exports.

The second information is from South Korea.

The governments of Indonesia and South Korea held the 3rd Indonesia-Korea Consular Consultation in Seoul, South Korea (11/11). The consultation meeting discussed the agenda related to consular affairs, protection of Indonesian citizens and other issues. The Korean delegation as host was led by Byun Chul-hwan, Director General for Overseas Korean and Consular Affairs, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Acting on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia at a consular consultation meeting was Secretary of the Director General of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Winanto Adi. In his opening remarks, Byun Chul-hwan welcomed the continuation of the third Consular Consultation meeting held ahead of the bilateral meetings between the Presidents of the two countries and the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit in Busan 25-26 November 2019.Meanwhile, Winanto Adi said that the implementation of the Consular Consultation is the right platform to resolve various strategic consular issues, which are in the interests of the two countries. The effort was also carried out in order to improve bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea in the fields of economy, politics, defense, research, technology and culture.

Indonesia has initiated United Nations resolutions or decisions on the creative economy at the UN General Assembly Session, which was passed by consensus in New York, USA on November 14, 2019. The resolution entitled "International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, 2021" emphasizes the crucial role of the creative economy sector in promoting sustainable development. Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani, Indonesia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, emphasized that Indonesia has taken various steps to mainstream the creative economy at the UN remembering that Indonesia has contributed to sustainable development in many countries. For the first time, Indonesia initiated a decision at the UN in the form of a creative economic resolution, which had never been done by other countries before. The European Union and a number of delegates expressed high appreciation for Indonesia's initiative.

Indonesia and Colombia agreed to soon start joint fit study in exploring market access expansion of a number of  Indonesian products to Colombia. This was stated byDirector of Bilateral Negotiations of  Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Made Marthini on Thursday (14/11). The agreement  was agreed at the preparation meeting of future trade agreement between Indonesia and Colombia in Bogota. Besides, to do joint the fit study, Indonesia and Colombia also agreed the term of working reference. Both countries target that the study will finish in June 2020.

Indonesian elementary school karate team won five medals consisting of three gold medals, one silver and one bronze at the international karate championship, the 4th Edition of the International Karate Open of Province de Liege 2019 in Herstal, Belgium from 6th to 13th November.  As quoted  by Antara News Agency,  Director of Elementary School Development of the Directorate General of Primary and Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Khamim hoped in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/11) that the achievement of the students can motivate Indonesian children  to be always able to obtain achievement.

An Indonesian scientist, Prof. Bambang Hero Saharjo from Faculty of Forestry at the Bogor Agricultural University was awarded the 2019 Mad Madox Prize. The announcement of the award took place at Wellcome Collection, Euston, London by John Maddox's daughter, Robyn Maddox, with an introduction from a leading scientific magazine editor and Nature. This was attended by more than 100 leading British scientists. It was conveyed by Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in London, E. Aminudin Aziz in a press statement on Wednesday. Robyn Maddox also said that  Prof. Bambang set aside 206 selected candidates from 38 countries.

Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Arrmanatha C. Nasir handed over credentials to Bishop Urgell, Monsignor Joan Enric Vives i Sicília, co-prince Principality of Andorra on Friday (8/11). In the meeting, Ambassador Arrmanatha conveyed strengthening commitment of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Andorra in the future. A number of sectors which are potential to cooperate are finance and banking, creative economy, culture and tourism. One day before, Ambassador Arrmanatha also met Foreign Affairs Minister of  Andorra, Maria Ubach Font, and shared a dialog on bilateral and multilateral cooperation. One of them, which becomes attention, is youth community in participating to preserve democratic values, Human Right protection and peace.

After holding a bilateral meeting of Human Right Dialog with Norway government in Tromsø, the delegation of Indonesian government departed to Brussels, Belgium to hold similar bilateral meeting with delegation of European Union (UE) on Friday (8/11). In the annual meeting which enters the 8th year, the two sides agreed to keep continuing pattern of bilateral dialog which so far has contributed in boosting Indonesian and European Union relations. Director of Human Right and humanitarian of Foreign Affairs Ministry, Achsanul Habib, as Chairman of Indonesian delegation in the meeting, said that Indonesian government is still committed to ensuring advancement and protection of human rights. The Indonesian government does not only fulfill the rights of civil and politic, but also rights of economic, social and cultural aspects.

Chairman of Indonesian Tourism Travel Association of East Nusa Tenggara province, Abed Frans said that sale value of tourism package to East Nusa Tenggara on World Travel Market (WTM) 2019 in London reaches billions of rupiahs. To Antara News Agency, he said on Monday (11/11) that the achievement is related to the participation of the province by having special pavilion in World Travel Market 2019 in London, United Kingdom on November 4-6. Overall, transaction value of tourism travel cooperation to Indonesia with various tourism business-people of foreign countries reached Rp30 - 35 billion.
