Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied on the existence of tourist visa for Israeli people. Previously, Haaretz, media of Israel claimed that Israeli people can propose visa to Indonesia as of May 1st. Spokesperson of the Ministry, Arrmanatha Nasir, when being connected by Republika on Friday (4/5) said that news about visa granting for Israel is not true. He emphasized that this has been communicated by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya and Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna Laoli. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the truth of the news, which was published by Haaretz, has also been denied by Directorate General of Immigration. Head of Public Relations and Public Section of the Directorate General of Immigration, Agung Sampurno said that there is no tourist visa for Israel. Indonesia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel. Thus, Indonesia does not have policy of visa granting for Israeli people.

Acquiescence film directed by Fierrany Halita from Indonesia won the main prize for F-Kids category in International Festival of Sustainable Development Film in Bratislava, Solvakia over the weekend. The award was handed over by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of Republic of Slovakia to Indonesian Ambassador to Slovakia, Adiyatwidi Adiwoso represented by Fierrany Halita. This was stated by Counselor of Socio-Cultural Information of the Indonesian Embassy to Bratislava, Lely Meiliani to Antara News Agency in London on Monday (7/5). The acquiescence film is a short animation one with the theme ‘Environment”. The festival has been held for 44 years and it becomes the biggest film festival in Slovakia. This year, the committee of the festival received 1,300 films from various countries and only 86 films became nomination. The award is the first time for Indonesia to win in the film festival.

Speech and story-telling competition in Indonesian language were held in Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There were 10 finalists; each 5 participants showed their skills in the final speech and story-telling competition in Indonesian language for foreign speakers at Campus of Universiti Malaysia Utara Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia on Sunday (6/5). A student of the university, Nurfarhana binti Mazlan was decided by the judges as the first winner of the speech competition. The second and third place was Addina binti Zamil and Aubaidillah Doloh who are the students of Universiti Islam Antarbangsa Malaysia. Meanwhile, for story-telling in Indonesian language, the first winner was Shakif bin Suhaimi from Universiti Islam Antarbangsa Malaysia, the second place, Nuramelynn Izati binti Hisham from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and the third place was Syed Muh Azmel bin Syed Mahmud from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. The finale was opened by Education and Cultural Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Prof. Ari Purbayanto. In his speech, Ari Purbayanto disclosed that the speech and story-telling competition in Indonesian language is program of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture which is held by all Indonesian Education and Cultural and Cultural House Attaché in 18 accredited countries. The event was also enlivened by dances and songs which were accompanied by Angklung students and teachers of Indonesian school in Kuala Lumpur as well as Indonesian student association of Universiti Utara Malaysia.

Every year since 1948, May 8 has been celebrated as World Red Cross Day to appreciate the services of the founder of the World Red Cross Movement, Henry Dunant, who was also born on the same date. The World Red Cross Day commemoration aims to inspire, facilitate and promote all humanitarian activities undertaken by the International Committee of the Red Cross and members of the participating National Community. In addition, it is also used as an opportunity to appreciate the services of volunteers and staff who are struggling to save the lives of many people.
Last event of Today in History is that on May 8, 1993 was the death of Marsinah, an Indonesian labor activist.
Before her body was found on May 9, 1993 in Jegong Village, Wilangan Nganjuk District, East Java, Marsinah was one of the employees of PT. Catur Putera Surya, who was very active in demanding a more decent wage. Marsinah along with other workers, went on strike to call their demands. Until May 5, 1993, Marsinah was still active with her colleagues in demonstrations and talks. However, on the following days, Marsinah's whereabout was not known by her colleagues until her body was found on May 9, 1993. Marsinah was declared dead on May 8, 1993. Autopsy results conducted by doctors at Nganjuk Regional General Hospital concluded that Marsinah died as a result of persecution. As an activist Marsinah earned the Yap Thiam Hien Award in 1993, for her sevice in upholding human rights.
Indonesia encourages the revitalization of the World's Wasatiyyat (moderate)Islam Axis. The statement was made by President Joko Widodo in his speech at the opening ceremony of High Level Consultation of World Muslim Scholars on Wasatiyyat(moderate) Islam held at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Tuesday (1/5). As adherents of a religion that is a blessing to the whole universe, the President said Muslims should be role models in developing peace and unity, and the driving force of world progress. According to the President, now there has been a lot of progress in Muslim countries. Economic, political as well as science and technology developments in Muslim countries, are growing rapidly and no less than in other parts of the world. On the other hand, there is also a disturbing development in various parts of the world. The rapidly expanding communication technology, the widespread use of social media, have brought significant social implications. Therefore, Indonesia welcomes the strengthening spirit of moderation in the great movement in the Islamic world. According to the President, this high-level consultation forum can be a place to share experiences in tasamuh or developing tolerance. In addition to sharing experiences, the President added, the Islamic Wasatiyyat movement should become a worldwide joint movement that can inspire leaders, ulama, youth and Muslims in general to stay firm on the path of moderation of Islam. The President also said the involvement of the ulama became very important because the scholars are the heirs of the Prophets and the exemplary torch for the ummah. If the clerics unite to immerse moderation of Islam then the President is optimistic that the World's Wasatiyyat (moderate) Islam Axis will become the mainstream that will give hope for the birth of a world that is peaceful, safe, prosperous and just. And it will become an Islamic movement to bring about social justice. At the beginning of his speech, the President introduced Indonesia as a diverse country but still lives in harmony. He said, the diversity is a gift from Allah SWT tht must be maintained. It is the source of power that makes Indonesia a strong nation. The opening ceremony was attended by Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Prof. Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Ath-Thayeb, 100 prominent scholars and Muslim scholars from Indonesia and the world and ambassadors of Islamic countries in Indonesia.Meanwhile, Iranian Vice President for Women and Household Affairs Massoumeh Ebtekar said that her meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Tuesday morning discussed the steps of developing cooperation between Iran and Indonesia. During the meeting, they discussed the development of economic cooperation between the two countries in recent years. Currently, Massoumeh Ebtekar explained, Iran has many opportunities that can be utilized by investors from Indonesia to invest in Iran. Related cooperation in the field of women's development, Massoumeh Ebtekar explained, that Indonesia and Iran have different experiences in that regard. Both countries can share the experience, so that women's development will be directed to socio-economic development.
Asian Games 2018 will be held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2, 2018. The 18th Asian regional multi sport event will be held in two regions: Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra. This is the second time for Indonesia to host the event after the 4th Asian Games held in Jakarta in 1962. At this sporting event, Indonesia will be visited by many visitors from various countries. This provides its own advantages for Indonesia, from the economy and tourism sides. Chairman of the Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (Inasgoc), Erick Thohir said that the event will boost Indonesian tourism sector. To take advantage of the moment, Inasgoc together with the Ministry of Tourism has created a package of tour promotion for foreign tourists during the 2018 Asian Games. The package is in the form of regular promotions for the public and special promotion through the athletes and participating country team officials who will arrive a month earlier than the opening day. According to Erick Thohir, the tour package is aimed at foreign tourists who are interested in sports. After watching the matches they can visit tourist destinations in Indonesia, such as Bali or other places of interest. According to Erick, it is difficult to invite tourists who are already in favorite holiday places like Bali to come to the 2018 Asian Games. At the time of the Asian Games 2018 is taking place, the number of foreign tourists is estimated to reach around 250 thousand people. In addition, Erick is of the opinion that the organizing of the 2018 Asian Games will not be disturbed by the moment of the political year in Indonesia. The announcement of the presidential and vice presidential candidates scheduled in August 2018, is expected not to affect the 2018 Asian Games. Meanwhile, Palembang as one of the cities where the implementation of Asian Games 2018, also continues to clean up and prepare its leading tourist destinations, such as Musi River and several other tributaries in the city of Palembang. Currently normalization of Sekanak river is being done. Acting Palembang Mayor Akhmad Najib explained that the Palembang City Government has prepared a budget of 7.5 billion rupiah for Sekanak river restoration which will be one of the tourist destinations in Palembang. In the near future the program, which has been planned since 2016 by Mayor Harnojoyo, has entered the preparation stage of the work. London is interested to invest in infrastructure in Indonesia. Mayor of London as special region which includes London financial region, Charles Bowman said that his office wants to increase further cooperation in finance, especially infrastructure finance. The World Bank mentioned that Indonesia still lacks of finance amounting to $1.5 trillion dollars for infrastructure development. Mayor Charles Bowman will visit Indonesia and Singapore this week to increase cooperation. He is planned to open trade at Indonesia’s stock exchange before doing a series of meetings with officials of the Indonesian’s finance to promote London as one of financial centers which sales obligation is with rupiah denomination with the name ‘Komodo Bond’. Mayor Charles Bowman also said that there are a lot of infrastructure projects offered by Indonesia such as transportation and energy.
Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang welcomed friendship cooperation with Indonesia and ASEAN. This was stated in his statement in a signing article on Saturday (5/5) entitled “Starting new trip of China-Indonesia” friendship cooperation”, which was published by The Jakarta Post. PM Li said that Beijing will support Indonesia in developing corridor of regional economy, increasing infrastructure and industrial development and making marine relations of the two countries stronger. In addition, China also will cooperate with ASEAN to develop joint vision in a bid to connect Beijing-ASEAN. PM Li Keqiang is also scheduled to meet Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday (7/5) in his state visit to Indonesia on May 6-8, 2018. Prime Minister Li’s visit to Indonesia is his first visit to overseas since he serves as Chinese prime minister.
Indonesia and Senegal explore cooperation in maritime sector after the two countries met on the 24th International Maritime Pilot's Association (IMPA) in Senegal. The existence of the Indonesian delegation in the conference in Dakar, Senegal on April 23-27, 2018 has attracted attention of the authority of Dakar port to establish cooperation in the maritime sector.
The government of Magelang city, Central Java province promoted various local tourism objects through fun bike event which was participated in by around 7 thousand people on Sunday. The event was to celebrate the 1112th anniversary of Magelang city. Head of the committee of the event, Suryantoro said that the participants of fun bike which were local people and outsiders of the region, took distance around 16 kilometer. Fun bike aimed at promoting sport and Magelang tourism. Suryantoro also said that the participants rode through various tourism objects in the city. Besides that, the participants also enjoyed the beauty, neatness, and cleanliness of Magelang city which is also well known as the city of a million flowers. The provincial government of Yoyakarta encouraged all local businessmen of micro, small and medium enterprises to go online in order to be able to compete at global market. Head of micro, small and medium enterprises sector of Cooperative office and micro, small and medium enterprises of Yogyakarta, Agus Mulyono said in Yogyakarta on Sunday that by `go online`, he believed sales trend of the micro, small and medium enterprises will be more easy to increase. Agus also said that "Go Online" campaign will keep being intensified to the businessmen to market the product by "online". Agus valued that market by online is more effective to reach and to attract than the traditional one. The government of Kendari city, in Southeast Sulawesi province held cultural carnival of the archipelago which was participated in by 23 ethnics of the city on Saturday. The carnival was an event to celebrate the 187th Kendari anniversary. Acting mayor of Kendari, Sulkarnain, appreciated the participation of all ethnics and groups in the city. That showed that Kendari is Indonesian miniature. The mayor also said that Kendari is occupied by multi ethnics and hoped that with the anniversary commemoration all people feel comfortable and all representatives of the ethnics introduced their cultures. Sulkarnain was amazed by the ethnics from outside of Southeast Sulawesi province which participated in the event and showed attractions of their regional cultures. The ethnics which performed at the event, were among others the big ethnics in Southeast Sulawesi such as Tolaki, Buton, Muna, Moronene, Wakatobi, and the ethnics from Java, East Nusa Tenggara, Sumatera, Kalimantan, Bali, South Sulawesi and many other ethnics.

Indonesian student association in Russia held sport competition among students of ASEAN member countries on Sunday (29/4/2018). The title of the competition was ‘Permira ASEAN Student Games 2018’. The sport competition was participated in by 7 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Kamboja, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar. The games with the theme “let’s play together, build friendship and fair play “ was opened by displaying flags from each country of ASEAN countries and it was accompanied with traditional songs from those countries. At the opening, the participants also performed opening creation dance with the name “Perdamaian” or in English “peace” dance from East Kalimantan. Thus, cutting ‘Nasi Tumpeng’ was done by Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, Wahid Supriyadi as a sign that the event was begun. Tumpeng is a cone-shaped rice dish with side dishes of vegetables and meat. Garin Yudha Primaditya as head of the committee said that the event was hoped to be able to strengthen relations among ASEAN countries, to unite ideas and to strengthen ASEAN young people in the future. There are 3 sports which were competed namely badminton, table tennis and futsal. In addition to the sport games, there was also ASEAN stand bazaar Indonesia. The winners of the event for the first time were single man badminton from Vietnam, single woman table tennis from Vietnam, and futsal was from man group of Malaysia and Indonesia only ranked on the 2nd and 3rd. Around 300 participants and guests who attended the event, were very enthusiastic to hold the sporty event for the first time by Indonesian Student Association in Russia.

Governor of Aceh, Irwandi Yusuf received the visit of Qatar Ambassador to Indonesia, Ahmed Jassim al-Hammar in Aceh on Monday (30/4/2018). In the meeting, he offered investment in Sabang port to Qatar. In addition, the Governor also said that Aceh province wants to open direct flight route between Aceh and Qatar. To Ambassador Ahmed Jassim, Governor Irwandi Yusuf further said that many Acehnese people are currently working at oil companies in Qatar. Ambassador Ahmed Jassim welcomed the investment offered by the government of Aceh. The Ambassador also appreciated good relations which have been established between Qatar and Indonesia so far. The Ambassador also said that he will conduct the official visit in the future in a bid to discuss in detail various kinds of cooperation which are probably explored.

The event was held as integrated promotion event is which combined with trade mission, culture performance and tourism. During 3 days of the implementation of the event starting from April 26-28, 2018, the Indonesia Fair held in Dhaka, Bangladesh was visited by around 10,000 visitors of Bangladeshi people. Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Rina P. Soemarno said that the event succeeded to record transaction worth $279.19 million dollars or more than Rp 3.76 billion, which was received from business meeting and trade exhibition. Ambassador Rina stated in a press release on Tuesday (1/5) that the achievement is a good start to strengthen Indonesia-Bangladesh trade cooperation. Especially, Ambassador Rina gave appreciation to Indonesian businesspeople who participated in Indonesia Fair 2018. She hoped that the national businesspeople could expand their business to see market potential of Bangladesh which is so big. The visitors of the exhibition were entertained with Indonesian traditional dances from 6 provinces namely West Sumatera, Aceh, Kalimantan, Papua, Jakarta, and West Java by the Indonesian embassy’s art team in Dhaka and Dhakabashi. The event also showed short movies, documentary or fiction to introduce social life of Indonesian people. Bangladeshi people and the businesspeople who participated in the exhibition, hoped that the event can become annual event in Bangladesh.

European Free Trade Association was alternative trade block for European countries which were not ableto join in European Economic Community which becomes European Union –EU now. Its goal is to hold free trade of inter member countries and to encourage free trade as media to achieve growth and prosperity among member countries. The European Free Trade Association was established by Norway and Swiss. Currently, only Island, Norway, Swiss, and Liechtenstein still become members of the association.
The next event was in 1985, Ellyas Pical became the winner of IBF Junior Bantam Class.
Ellyas Pical was born in Ullath, Saparua, Central Maluku, Maluku on March 24, 1960. He was professional boxer from Indonesia who became the first world champion from Indonesia. Ellyas Pical has fallen in love to boxing sport since watching boxing competition on TVRI, especially Muhammad Ali match. His profesional career began in 1983 in Junior Bantam class. Since that time, he achieved series of achievements such as winner of OPBF after defeating Hi-yung Chung from South Korea with score 12 rounds on May 19, 1984 in Seoul, South Korea. Due to his victory, Pical became the first profesional boxer from Indonesia who succeeded to achieve international title overseas. He grabbed IBF title on Junior Bangtam Class from Korean boxer, Chun Ju-do in Jakarta on May3, 1985. Along his career, his records were 20 victories with 11 KOs, 1 draw and 5 defeats.

In 1993, the UN assembly determined May 3 as a day to commemorate the basic principles of press freedom. Since that time, May 3 has been commemorated to defence freedom of media from independence attack and to give honorable to jounalists who died in running their profession. May 3 becomes the day to encourage public initiative to struggle the independence of press. International Freedom Press Dayalso becomes momentum to remind the government to honor its commitment on press freedom.

In his speech, Banda Aceh Mayor, Aminullah Usman said that besides to enlivening the city’s anniversary, the event was also to strengthen bonds of friendship among government’s employees and residents. The Mayor added that his office also has held great Zikir, dalail khairat contest, football, tennis and volleyball tournament and various activities which involved the general public. The commemoration of National Education Day in Surabaya was conducted with different ways. To remember the teaching of master education, Ki Hajar Dewantara, hundreds of students and teachers of Great Crystal School and Course Center wore hats with photographs of Ki Hajar Dewantara on ceremony of education day on May 2. Besides, the students also wore hats with photographs of Dewi Sartika, heroine of education for woman. The two heroes were selected because they became initiators of father and mother of education in Indonesia. at the ceremony, Indyah, former teacher of Gunungsari elementary school had an opportunity to become ceremonial leader. On the same occasion, Indyah also received special award from Great Crystal School and Course Center as woman who has devoted herself as educator for 38 years. The school also held a series of events, such as decorating park competition, coloring contest and Learning Media Innovation Competition for teachers. Mifta Churohman as Deputy Head of School said that the event had a theme ‘Appreciate the services of teachers and work for the education of Indonesia”. To commemorate National Education Day at the border of Atambua, Belu regency, regional government through Education and Culture Office held a number of cultural events. Head of the office, Belu, Marsianus Loe Mau said in Atambua on Wednesday (2/5) that the commemoration with cultural nuance became one of the regional government efforts to educate present generation to more understand their identities. According to Marsianus, the commemoration of National Education Day was colored with cultural events, as an important message, to disenchant and to remind all national stakeholders in a bid to get to know what actually owned as an Indonesian at the border of Belu is. He further said that all parties must not lose identity.

The Aceh Culinary Festival is held for 3 days from 4 - 6 May 2018 at Blangpadang Square, Banda Aceh City. This culinary festival event is one of the efforts and commitments of Aceh Government to support the development of Aceh as Halal Tourism Destination. Aceh Culture and Tourism Office says that more than 100 culinary businesspeople, observers, and community lovers participate in the annual activity to preserve the culinary culture of Aceh. The participants will create innovative menus that combine Aceh's taste with the various culinary elements of the world. A number of famous chefs will show their ability of innovation and creation in cultivating a typical Aceh culinary into a dish that has a more premium appearance with the concept of fine dining. In addition to traditional Acehnese menus, this festival also pays special attention to the fusion food of Aceh with various culinary from all over the world. 36 tenants will offer innovative Aceh menu in the Fusion Food Market zone where it is the largest capacity in Aceh Culinary Festival this year.
